I love metroidvania-style games! This was super polished! :)
I liked the visuals and the animations. Also, I think this is a really nice take on the theme of the jam :) Great job!

It's a very cool, well-polished game. The opening is a little slow (you maybe could have shown the player trying to collect berries for the dragon so there'd be a bit more interesting going on?) but it really opens up once you get the glide.

I think the animations could be improved - for instance, I think pressing down + attack is supposed to be kind of like a Zelda 2/Ducktales/Shovel Knight pogo move, but it uses the same animation as regular attack? So i couldn't tell whether I'd done it right until I hit the spikes.

The random freezes were also annoying, but I understand there's not much you could have done about them.

I enjoyed the mood of the game, it's graphics especially, but I found the mechanics related to jump hard to handle. Also : ennemies kept attacking while dialog boxes were displayed (e.g : after collecting a scale) and sometimes the game appeared to pause or freeze for a fraction of second, which was weird. It was still nice to play, and the atmosphere of the game works well. Good job !

Starting controls were good and story was very interesting.  With little to no backtracking it was a good metrovania and thanks to the map I did not got lost.

Game was very bad about telling itself. I did not understand healing at first or the purpose of waiting. I think this skill also needs a lot of good level design to shine. I would accelerate the charge time the more player is charging for sure.

Air jump mechanics was hard to understand and even harder to execute.

Enemies were too small and was blending too much too the game art an outline would be good. Flying enemies were very hard to kill.

I got to the ending fight without collecting 3 scales? Was that a bug? I had recently got vines ability and was going up with it. Boos attack fireball also was not moving past platforms and by going under them I easily killed the red dragon. Thankfully game let me start from the last checkpoint and I can show you how I got there.

I enjoyed the game with some polish it could be a very good metrovania.

Hi Xentios, there were definitely some areas which could have had some more polish but we had ran out of time. The ending room and last boss fight is designed to be reached through the last scale but it wasn't a big concern for us if player's managed to find a skip. Thanks again for taking the time to play and providing feedback!

The atmosphere and the game's aesthetics, with that pixel art, are incredible. I find the game very entertaining, and the controls feel good. I would suggest adding a more noticeable damage-receiving animation because I've fallen on several spikes without realizing I was losing life. Apart from that, the game is wonderful. Great job ^^

probably one of the best feeling platformers i've tried this jam! i ended up getting stuck and not being able to get out (likely due to my terrible platforming skills), but what i played was really fun!

I really liked the movement in the game, as well as the pixel art. It was really fun to play. But the soundtrack in the background was a little strange, I mean it gave me some strange feelings, feelings of anxiety, probably. I don’t want to say that it’s somehow bad, it’s just not clear to me. Overall great job, keep it up.

Lovely game, unfortunately I got stuck early on with a high jump I had to make to the right over some spikes. I was almost able to make it but the ledge is like 3 pixels too high.

The graphics and music are gorgeous though.

Thanks for your comment! You seem to be stuck on a mechanic called "pogo", the tutorial explaining it might be a bit unclear, sorry for that. It works by attacking, while you're over spikes or enemies, which gives you a big vertical boost, and helps clear ledges, that would normally be too high. We hope you would like to try the game again with this knowledge!

Thank you, I've now completed the game. Well done! Unfortunately I had the same issue as Xentios where the final boss fight occurred and the game ended before I managed to find the 3rd scale.

A very impressive amount of work done in a month! The graphics were especially great, and I enjoyed Phlox’s design especially. The gliding and the grappling vine felt great, and navigating around all the obstacles was enjoyable. I think combat could be improved, it was difficult to not get hurt while attacking moving enemies - I think something as simple as adding knockback would be enough. Great job team!

I really liked the controls and the gliding mechanic. And it looks stunning!

I had some lag spikes when performing certain actions (like opening a door or picking up items) but this could be an issue on my machine though.
