Our team made all assets during the jam. I used the Raylib minshell skeleton code for producing a minimum shell for Emscripten

Nice Galaga clone, with a nice rhythm to the bullets - felt more like a shmup at times. I would have liked the enemies to give more damage feedback, and have the enemy types changed a little less since I felt I got into a good rhythm and then they would change (also a good challenge)

Hmm... In November 1969, a ceramic plate was left on the Apollo 12 lunar lander. Some artists of those years painted different images on it. So, one of them was Andy Warhol. He just drew a penis. So here's the question. The main character of the game is Andy Warhol?

Developer(+1)

No, you're actually playing as our original character Randy Warhol. He looks and sounds just like you.

Oh. Okay :D

We love pixels too. Nice galaga sort of. Rather hard to play even with the upgrades. Best title ever. Suggetions for improvement: enemy ships should explode when they hit you, less hits on enemy ships to destroy them. But generally a good job done.

Developer

Thanks for feedback!

Solid shmup! It's a bit hard to see the bullets and the enemies are a bit too strong in the beginning. I think the player hitbox could use some tweaking, bc I would suddenly be dead when I didn't even think I'd been hit yet. Some feedback about being hit would be good too.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. All this and more will be cured after the jam :)

game is a nice lil bullethell type of game and its really well polished! pixel art is really nice as well as the sound effects! but the best part is the title of the game lmao

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Glad you liked the sound effects :)

"This will happen in America tomorrow." 8-0

I like the graphics. If you add a fullscreen mode button in the itch webgame upload page, the game might be a little more accessible. Idk how it would affect gameplay, though.

Developer(+1)

Be prepared tomorrow ;)

There was originally a fullscreen button but it vanished of the face of the earth when i submitted the final build. Just jam stuff.

loooooved it! nice historical background for a shooting game heheh also the soudtrack was so juicy and imersive, i kept playing for a while just to enjoy the soundtrack. the patern of the bullets were very pretty too. the scrolling-thing was indeed kind of a bummer, i couldnt move the spaceship as much as i wanted without messing up my sight of the enemys. anyway, thanks for the cool game!

Developer(+1)

Glad you loved it! Some browsers like Firefox don't have the scrolling issue if u want to play with your full potential ;)

My first time playing a bullet hell, gameplay and graphics look solid!

Developer

Thanks! Check out Juice Jam Shooter if you're thirsty for more juice :)

At the beginning, I think enemies was invincible but when I understand I have the power it's was good to play. Good shoot th'em up ! And I love the music of the end game !

Developer(+1)

Glad you had fun and enjoyed the music :)

Nice job. Unfortunately, I can't think of anything to add to the comments below, they seemed to cover it all.

Developer(+1)

That's alright, as long as you had fun :)

Oh shoot I stink at this game a lot

Its a pretty nice and simple shmup game, I like the art but it does become a bit too difficult to see the enemy bullets, especially when I see them get mixed with the red stars in the background a bit. I also ran into a bug where if you hug a wall the game will refuse to accept any other kind of inputs. (Example: if I press left and hug the left side of the screen, I will be unable to move upwards or downwards)

The humor is pretty great, even got a good chuckle just from reading the title and the 'lets go shopping' text,  I also like how you still get tossed into the game when clicking the settings/credits button in the menu (Idk if that was intentional but I kinda laughed at that)

overall I think its a solid game that just needs some tweaks to iron out some of the minor issues I had, nice job!

Developer

Thank you! Don't worry about stinking at the game, I think I designed the levels too hard anyway :)

We never noticed that softlock bug before, good job finding it!

Developer

That bug was bound to happen considering i added that collision hours before the end of the jam and it literally just checks "if(solve_move() == out_of_bounds()) do_not_move()" xD . The menu buttons throwing u ingame is intentional, i didnt have the time to add new pages considering my UI library was wacky so i just "solved" it like that x).

The game looks good, it is hard but enjoyable.

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it :)

Nice little game but when you start the game you are a little too weak/slow compared to enemie (our fire pace made me go brrrrrr against my keyboard, trying to smash the space key).

Of course, a deep and amazing name choice.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! If you ever want to play again, you an hold the spacebar to continuously fire (I'll edit the game page to mention that now)

Great work

I pretty much made the same game, I just had a lack of time to do the shop part

Developer

Thank you! We barely made the shop in time anyway :)

I'll give your shmup a go now.

Nice Effects. And also, I like pixel art :D (But im bad at making it lol).

Funny theme!  I love the humor injected into the game.   Plus, when I found out there was a shop I really wanted to play it more.

However, the enemies take too many hits too kill and the hurt box on the player is too big.  The other issue I ran into was pressing up or down on the arrow keys has a tendency to scroll the page, even after clicking in the game window.   (i read more comments, so sorry for beating the proverbial dead horse on those issues).

As someone else mentioned, the patterns are spot on.  Really feels like an old school sh'mup.

Beautiful pixel art (coming from another pixel artist).  I tend to go for a more chunky retro style, and the sub pixel shading and color choices were spot on for you guys!   Great parallax scrolling.

btw, im curious.....

How do the aliens know what a penis is, and why are they finding that offensive?  The 70s were a trip man, too bad I wasn't born to experience it.  ;)

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback and I’m happy you found our game fun and funny!

To answer your question, the phrase 8===D is a common alien threat.

Submitted(+1)

I guess the title explains the theme connection.

Submitted(+1)

Beautiful art. The title made me delay playing because I was with my 8 year old initially.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you! and you’re right, your eight year old shouldn’t learn about the voyager golden disc until they’re older ;)

Haha! 10/10 reply

The visuals are great. Funny writing. Good to see Raylib usage!

Developer

Thank you very much!

I love the game, the story is just well, amazing, and everything looks so polished. My only complaint is that some of the bullets are a little hard to see against the stars, but other than that I love it!

Developer

Bullets are indeed very small, we might change that when voting is over.
