Visually, the game is really nice. I wish that maybe the map wasn't so empty but, it is a game jam game after all. The music is I would say interesting. Sounds are ok but could be improved. It is on topic. The controls are ruining the fun for me since zombies are really small compared to a car and especially within the walls of a tower it was not very easy to hit them. Also not sure if is it just me, but even though there were many zombies on one tower, the hp bar stayed completely green. But overall a nice game that could be improved with more polish.

Tried the game, it’s unusual to see a driving game in this jam! I had fun in this entry even if the controls and camera weren’t the best. The music starts too slowly, I would have preferred something more dynamic and upbeat. The map doesn’t need to be this big either! The visuals are great though, this and the game in general was hard to tell it was made in 72 hours, so…it’s 100% WOWIE!

Great idea for the jam, definitely original! Unfortunately the execution leaves a bit to be desired, probably due to the time constraints of the jam.

While the visuals are incredibly good and polished, the music is a bit repetitive but fitting and driving into zombies with the chainsaw feels amazing, the game appears overwhelmingly challenging at first because of the 5 towers to defend; that is until you realize that the zombies don’t seem to do any damage, at which point the fun part of driving over zombies starts to feel useless. That’s a real bummer! :(

Also, it definitely feels like there are really few zombies! That’s probably because they are split among the five towers: if you reduce the number of towers (maybe 3 or even only one) and increase the number of zombies there will probably be more hordes of zombies to annihilate, and I assure you it will feel so good!

Another thing I’ll say is the Ai companion feels a bit dumb, tending to get stuck on walls: while that’s definitely funny the first time, it can get annoying very fast. As somebody already pointed out, it should also probably be near the player for most of the time: you can easily lose it and never see it again because of the largeness of the map.

Overall your game is a rough gem ruined by some game-breaking issues, but it is a nice start that, if improved, can become something really fun: keep it up! ^-^

Agreed, but couldn't really do much due to time constraints. I will be fixing these issues once the jam is over, and who knows I might release it as a co-op game

good visuals, love the game <3

I like the concept and I like the visuals. I think the sensitivity should be turned up, also my ai partner is a bit stupid.

Thanks for the feedback 😊

I really like the concept and visuals and gameplay. Well Done!

I got a similar concept ! haha nice one ;) I made it 2d. Your concept is cool but controlling the car from laptop was kind hard ( pad and arrows ) but overall cool concept, you should push it forward

Thanks for the feedback :-)

What do u think of the camera angle, should it be top down or is this fine according to you?

I checked out your game it's fun.

Nice idea! prety cool. but:

  • car controls were a bit to slippery for me, I didn’t really end up recklessly running over zombies, but rather carefully aiming at them and then going straight at them. For me the car reacts too late and then to strong…
  • add an indicator for what towers are being attacked / where zombies are left, that would help as well

Well, great game! The car movement felt great, bumping into zombies with chainsaw was fun.. I had fun :D

I will critize some parts a little bit, i realise this was a game jam with time pressure and i must say, you did a great job of compleating a fun game under such circumstances. I am just critizing the game like it was a long project..

1- The ai is really not useful. It dissapeared into thin air and when i finally found it, it was stuck on a wall. Now, even if the ai was better, considering this is a themed game jam, it should be close to the player, so player can actually see the ai killing zombies. You know, it can kill zombies on the other side of the map. But how could player know that?

2- Tower hp problem.  :(

3-  5 towers is a lot to defend. Maybe you could make the map a bit smaller with fewer towers but with a lot more zombies to balance the difficulty?

4- Okay i am nitpicking rn. The graphics is obviusly 5/5, i will rate it that way. But i just want to add this.. The ground textures tiling is very obvius. Main ground textures should lack details which make it obvius to detect. Like colors should be extremely similar. But, since we still want some detail on the ground, you can make few textures which are very detailed and one main undetailed texture. Since you obviusly used unity terrain system, you can actually paint textures on it. You should paint detailed textures on top of the main one in a way which does not make it look like it was tiled. Also you can change the tiling and offset of the textures, that can be useful on some occasions. Ofc spending time on this would be a waste of precious time. I am just adding this because i think you cared about graphics while making this one.  In case you wanted to make it's graphics even better you can try to implement this.

Cool game, driving into zombies feels fun and satisfying and the car controls feels pretty good. I think the AI car could use some work, because for me it spent the entire time driving into a wall instead of helping. Also the towers didn't seem to be losing health even when there were zombies attacking them. Overall I like this entry!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Ya, I think towers not losing health is a bug, unfortunately I was not able to completely finish the game in time, other wise the A.I could have been better.

Hitting zombies with chainsaws always feels good

This has a good base idea, and looks good for a game jam, but I wish it was a bit more focused with a smaller map. Five towers was too much, especially since they looked the same. I couldn't observe my AI friend because it was at a completely different place. Zombies could run in packs, it was hard to hit them one by one.

Good protype,Controls is fine for me,fun to drive and kill zombies. Also i like visuals and idea itself.

But...

AI is bassicaly braindead so no coop. You play by youself or just try to move AI around so he can kill zombies))

I suggest to remove walls from towers so AI can easily charge zombies, walls pointless btw.

Maybe add ability to point AI in direction, like follow me or go to kill zombies in this spot,Maybe add more AI,like 3-4 more cars so gameplay can be more chaotic? Or add ability to like shoot chainsaw, bullets. This will help AI too,cuz it can kill zombies more easily from distance?

Feel free to use any ideas i gave you.Hope this helps, good luck!

Developer

thanks for the suggestions....I know the A.I is not very good cause I didn't spend much time on it ...I will try to improve the A.I if i continue on this project.

Controls felt a little too slippy in my opinion, and the post-processing felt a bit much but I like the game idea!

Thanks for the feedback....

I do really think the idea has allot of potential though, would love to see an updated version :)

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Ya a lot of people suggesting me to make it like a co-op game, would that be a good idea?

Submitted

I think that could be quite fun, yeah!

Submitted

Wow this is really something!  Unfortunately my toasted sandwich maker couldn't run it very well but from what I did get I can see a lot of promise :)  you should definitely make it co-op - seems very Rocket League-esque!

Developer(+1)

Ya it is partially my fault as well, didn't get time to optimise things.... Thanks for the feedback :-)

Submitted

No worries! My old laptop really is pretty rubbish so I wouldn't be surprised if it's just that :P

Submitted

I know the whole point of this jam was AI collaboration, but oh my goodness killing zombies in buzzsaw trucks would make an  amazing co-op game.  xD  Its definitely a neat prototype you have here, with a bit of touch-ups and polishes it would shine.

Submitted(+2)

Unfortunate it couldn't get finished; I was practically playing alone. But it was fun even in this state; although the map was too big to reliably see what was happening anywhere.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, may be i over scoped a little and was not able to finish in time, so I submitted whatever was complete.

Submitted

It is satisfying to kill the zombies xD But it really needs more work... My AI friend was stuck trying to go through a wall. I think the map was too big as well. Maybe if it was just one tower and we had to protect the area around it would be better. The controls also felt a little slippery, specially when changing directions. But good job on finishing the game in time! Keep up the good work ^^

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback, I couldn't really polish the game because of the time constraints.
