A real shame to have only tried it now. I liked it very much.

I was one of the official judges this year, and now that the results have been made public, and I'm free to do so, here is my score and thoughts on this title:

Overall score: 8

Neat little horror game that leaves a lot more questions than it answers. I wish the candles were easier to find, or had some way of showing they were items like other interactable areas in the game, because a good chunk of my playtime was spent trying to find them. It ended abruptly, and I wasn't even aware it was a demo until it did! Still, not a bad little game and I am eager to see where it leads.

I got this game for round 3 of the IGMC judging. First, congrats on getting to round 3!

Overall I started out not sure what I was doing except having to find her sister. After I found her I had no idea what to do or why. A little guidance would have been nice. I did eventually get to the end though, so was able to stumble to it in the hour I had.

Also for some reason the bookcase puzzle didn't register the first couple of times I selected it, it wouldn't let me try to arrange the books. No idea why that happened, but it did eventually work.

For some reason though this game made me think of the older adventure game Uninvited. Probably just due to your use of a mansion and such too.

I do feel a little more direction and better clues would significantly help this game though. It took forever to find the 6 candles. I'm sure with more time that could be added in though. And again, well done on getting to round 3!

A really charming game, where nothing can possibly be scary and terrifying C:

Really loved and the ambience and all the custom graphics!
Still, searching for the right items is often hard, and I would have surely loved more puzzles! ^_^

+ Beautiful graphic resources and use of colors, many and custom;

+ I like the characterization of enemies especially how they move;

+ Disturbing story that entices you to know how it ends.

- IMHO some items are impossible to find, there are no clues, without having seen other gameplay I would never have found them;

Hope to see this game improved!

Like several others, I struggled with some of the more obtuse puzzle elements in this game and I had a hard time seeing things in the game during the daytime because everything was SO dark (I know it's horror and that's a big part of the genre, but... there's definitely too much of a good thing sometimes). But, the game is beautifully presented and with a little extra polish and attention, I think it could be a nice, successful addition to the RM Horror games we all already know and love. :)

I appreciate the callback to classic rpg maker horror with the aesthetics and the general vibe. I think you did a really good job capturing that! The graphics were nice, although I felt the screen was too small, but that's just my personal opinion. I can definitely see a lot of people liking this!

Delicate hand-made art for a very atmospheric game that perhaps lacks on the side of the interaction, but which still leaves its mark.

I tried this out but it did not do much for me.

It had some neat presentation details and ambience, that was cool. But the rest is very rough and feels unfinished. The entire game suffers from a lack of polish in the eventing, everything that actually "happens" in an event falls very flat: long waits and delays on every action, no sound effect of snappiness on the "kills"...it just doesn't do a very good job on what makes a game like this scary or even interesting.

I had no real curiosity for what was happening, since it was not presented in an engaging way. It really needs a lot more work and care put into exploration and the choreography and audio details to work well, at least for me.

I got bored and stopped after finding the ritual room, but the only reason I got there was because someone in the chat knew the puzzles beforehand and guided me. The game doesn't do a good job of making a coherent sense gameplay-wise. Where am I taking the bunny, was I supposed to know that room? Why would the clock time be related to the doll room? It just doesn't feel intuitive.

Overall, just not enough for me. Good job on the ambience and sound tho! Those were cool aspects and hopefully the problems I had can be solved with more time.

I struggled with the puzzles, but to be fair, I'm not particulary great at puzzles anyway! I did love the art. I wish I could've seen more examples of it because the rooms in the home were really well done with a good use of lighting. Good job, and I hope you continue development with it.

Hey there AliceMisaki, I got your game for judging so here are some of my thoughts. There weren't too many horror games in my group, so as soon as I started the game I knew I was in for some interesting spooks. The art style is lovely, to the point that I wish there had been more areas to explore just so I could see more of the art (I know that wasn't doable with a deadline, but I can still dream). The gameplay was pretty simple but worked well with the story. The shadow enemies weren't difficult to dodge, but did add that extra fear since I wasn't sure exactly when another would appear.

I enjoyed the puzzles, even if they stumped me for a bit (mostly the candle placement one). But once I realized the trick I was pleased with myself and the game, which is what you want with a puzzle. Some of the puzzle controls were a bit clunky, but with more time I'm sure you can polish them up and make it all work better. Finding all the candles was difficult, especially since I didn't check a few tables from the right spot so I would think it was already cleared when in fact I needed to stand on the other side. I can understand wanting it to be a challenge, but I think it would be more fair if you had little candles visible so people don't have to just search every single spot and hope for the best.

Overall, this was a nice little demo that I wish went a bit further since I was enjoying the story. I'm sure that you'll be able to make a great horror game out of this concept now that you don't have to worry about the contest deadline, good luck!

First of all, congratulations on the original graphics and drawings created for this game. You managed to create the right horror atmosphere even if many mysteries still have to be solved as we've only seen the beginning. The gameplay is very simple and it would have been interesting to see a mechanic linked to the protagonist's transformation, consider it as an advice in case you want to continue the work. Keep it up! :)

The atmosphere and the original visual style make this game unique. There's stuff to improve in terms of polish of details, especially plot exposition, items descriptions and clarity of gameplay. Once finished, this game can become a huge deal!

It's too soon to talk about the plot, since the demo shows just the beginning of the story, but I'm curious about what's next! Good luck with the development of this rough gem 💪

Beautiful atmosphere and light play. Fantastic immersion that creates the game

From the moment I laid eyes on the game's thumbnail and screenshots, I was intrigued. It gave me massive Pocket Mirror/Mad Father vibes with its aesthetic, and the protagonist is adorably gothic lolita. The pixel art and scenery are gorgeous, as is the custom art for the puzzles, characters, and pretty much everything. I loved the music and sound effects, too. The puzzles themselves were pretty simple, but still fun, and I'm very much interested in where the game will go from here, seeing as it's a demo.

I will say I noticed a few places where I feel as if the grammar can be cleaned up, but that's a pretty minor issue and it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the game. My biggest critique is likely with the candle finding near the end, though. I'm not sure if there was supposed to be an indicator and it didn't show up for me, but there was no sign or hint as to where I needed to search for the candles. I had to go around the castle and interact with every object I found, and while it wasn't too big of an issue given how short the game is/the size of the play area, I think it would be good to give the player more of a nudge in future versions of the game.

I really liked this game, overall! Like I said, it reminded me of classical RPGMaker Horror Games with its aesthetic, and I can see it going far in its final version. Well done!

Developer

Thank you very much for the comment and for trying my demo!

Other players have pointed out to me that those candles are pretty hard to find, but I couldn't change the game anymore! It's something that I didn't feel while developing the game, in the complete version I will surely rethink this aspect!

I found RpgMaker thanks to Pocker Mirror, it was my "game mentor" in all these years, like a model to reach someday! I'm very happy how the atmosphere came out, dark but pleasing!

Thank you again for the tips and for playing it!
