This game is wonderful! The graphics, sounds and effects are amazing! Easy to understand. The dialogues between the characters remind me of the dialogues from banjo kazooie. Well done!

Nothing much to say, it was a very good game! Beautifully done, with interesting characters, turn-based mechanics were on point Well done!

Absolutely beautiful character design :) The conversations were funny and I was curious to see what monsters the other characters had made!

Really funny dialogue! The ice dice was a bit overpowered

I love the characters and all the visuals! I would love to see this game expanded on

A very fun little game. I think it should be made clearer (or have a tutorial for) how the dice take energy, and how the D20 takes two energy to use. I would suggest is a way to be able to choose what enemy to target (or if that exists, make it clearer how to do it, because I never found it). I also ran into the issue where all my rolls with the snakes were 1's, which made it the only fight I lost. The game also seemed to end suddenly after the fights with the minions, which I assume was because you ran out of time developing a final fight, but if it was a bug let me know so I can try it again. Overall, I had a lot of fun with it, and the issues were largely minor ones.

Developer

Art director here! Thank you for playing, and I'm glad you enjoyed our game.

That was a bug you ran into! The game is complete in its first form, with a post game skit and final boss fight. We will look into the issue for future post-jam builds.

As for the snakes -- they use ice die, which give you a negative multiplier on your rolls. Try using poison or fire damage to whittle them down when you can't use big rolls.

Ok, I gave the game a second chance. I actually ran into the bug again, but it made it clear what the issue was. It was actually losing the fight against the snakes that caused the issue. If you lose a fight, retry from the main menu (which places you back at the same fight) and continue on, then the final boss doesn't properly appear (instead going to the credits). Weird issue, but once I figured that out, I just had to get good and not lose to the snakes.

It's a really good game. I was very happy to actually see the story wrapped up. The balancing seems a little off, with luck being often the single deciding factor to a fight. Also, I feel like the fire dice are really under-powered, since every other dice gives better effects while also allowing for larger rolls. If the fire die only used one energy block total instead of one energy per rolled dice, maybe it would be more effective.

Either way, I'm glad I gave it a second chance. I updated my rating based on my most recent pass through the game.

I loved the art and the simple and intuitive gameplay. I could really see this becoming a full game with a bit more work, especially on some UI elements like text. Amazing achievement for a 48-hour jam!

This game was awesome and I’d love to see a more polished post-jam version. The concept is neat, but the execution falls flat at times, probably because of the time constraints of the jam.

Enjoyment: 4/5 (Ice snakes were annoying, and the die rolls often didn’t line up with that was shown (not counting explainable discrepancies like having more Luck), leading me to ask “why are the animations here?”)
Creativity: 5/5 (Very creative concept)
Presentation: 3/5 (Some parts of the UI were hard to read and descriptions all around could be better)

My full notes from playing are here. Really enjoyed this one!

Thanks for the excellent feedback,  the dice roll sides were set up before we had the art, and didn't have time to fix every dice, and the bugs you mentioned were because of time limitations.

Bloody Amazing entry! Seriously.

Big teams are always a risk but yall pull together a very talented group and did amazing.

Some things I would like to note personally (note given the time frame its 100% understandable these where considered/brought up):

The font was kind of hard to read, the outline didn't help that much. Just wish it was all bolded tbh. Would have added to the more cartoony vibe too.

I wish there was more movement in the characters, game feels very static in places. Since animating would have taken way to much time, a simple, idle pulsating would have been nice. And the Animations that were it were SUPER fast, would have been okay in my mind if they shook around a bit more. If you were using do tween or some other tweening engine, you can use DoComplete to not have the tweens overlap and cause weird movement.

Energy costs weren't displayed for me so I kind of had to intuit costs initially.

Those minor nitpicks aside amazing work on everything, gameplay was fun and interesting, art was stunning, audio was great, music also just great, and the take on the limitation for me is fantastic as you used more than a D6. Having the type of dice being a key aspect what dice did is amazing!

Fantastic work all of you!

Developer(+1)

I agree with the font, we had some trouble on the Unity side, where the font was bleeding when it was bold, so we had to make it less readable due to lack of time.  Energy costs display and more polish on the animations, and more animations didn't happen due to time limitations sadly.

Amazing graphics and design. All around superb. Great job!

damn i really liked the art in this game, super polished and clean as well, though the gameplay did feel slightly repetitive but for 48 hours this is great!

Submitted(+2)

Wow, this game is incredibly polished and nice looking!  The combat was fun, but I did often found myself using the same dice repeatedly.  The story was humorous, and you guys did an amazing job!

Such a good job for 48 hours. Good job!

This concept is soooo awesome!

It's incredible how much you did as a team in only 48-50h, good job :D

Wow, really appreciate that! One of our big goals was to create a polished product on a smaller scale with cohesive art, gameplay and story. I love that it translated well!
