Excellent work here! I really loved the visuals It's a really nice game to look at. And I found this really addicting to play as well. I felt the drive to keep getting bigger although I do agree with another who said it was really rage-inducing that you could only get hit once. It hurt every time after a long run just to reset from zero. Also, I'd suggest placing the score you received on the death screen. Good game though! Definitely one of my faves from the jam.

Super cool story set up and the pixel art animation looks great!

Love the art,the music

Wow, I was blown away by this. I did not expect to play it for a straight hour. At first, I thought the game ended when I absorbed the asteroid field, but then there were stars and planets!!! My one concern is that each time I died it was so rage-inducing that I'm sure the people in the next room were slightly concerned... Maybe add in health so a hit isn't an instant kill? Or make the other black holes move a tad slower.

My game is similar in concept to yours, you should check it out!

I am very curious to know how much bigger the black hole will get - but those others always get me. it feels a bit like katamari damacy on a cosmic scale, which is a great concept!

The concept is really, really cool.

It took me a moment to understand what my job was. Perhaps this could be explained shortly at the beginning. But great work, i like it.

The mouse controls are a little weird but this is a fun game.

Fun game to play. I liked how as you get larger you can absorb bigger objects and the view zooms out.

I have no idea how high I scored, but it was a fun time.

As an improvement suggestion: Make the movement speed proportional to the distance from the center of the screen. So if the player sticks to the center of the screen, the movement is slow and controlled (for consuming matter) and by moving further away you move faster to top speed (for avoiding getting killed).

Also, when I pressed on Credits there was no button to return to the main screen. Just a heads up to maybe add that to the game.

Good game!

This was a fun to play! The art is so cool. It would be cool to see your score on the final screen, I was always paying attention to not getting killed, it was hard to keep track of.

Always have enjoyed these types of games. Only issue I have is at the very large size it would appear that the other blackholes can never reach you. They appear to disappear right at the edge of the player’s quasar.

Always a satisfying mechanic, well done.

One note of feedback: I found the mouse control to be a bit sensitive as you grow larger, but maybe that's by design

Simple mechanis but good realisation!
I really liked:

VIsual style - things are drawn good, also lighting makes everything look grate!

Gameplay - challenging yet satisfying when you are able grow :D

The only suggestion I have is to make black holes smaller mayber: they  appear suddenly, move fast, and take up a lot of space, so sometimes I barely have time to react - and the result is really punishing, you need to replay:( But maybe its my problem and it was made intensionally.

Ah, I should set the game to full screen, than size of objects appears correctly

Great Game!. I would love to see some abilities like a Binary Star system where you can eat a particular star and it gives you a shield that rotates around the player. Or maybe the ability to consume the other black holes

Developer

The binary star system is an amazing idea! Thank you!

An enjoyable game at the start, however once you have gobbled up enough to become larger than stars, the other black holes will begin disappearing before they reach the centre of the screen, and are therefore no longer a threat to you.

However it was fun and relaxing to play, and I did like seeing my black hole get bigger and bigger, especially at the start when gobbling up all of the dust and asteroids.

I carried on until my score reached 16,707. At that point the planets were so spaced out that it took too long to find, and I suspect the game will never end anyway.

I do like your idea on the theme though, good work.

Also I found myself stuck on the credits screen before starting the game, maybe it's just me but I couldn't find a way off it.

Wow, you beat my highscore! :D

You can leave the credits screen with the escape key. I think I will make a button there.

Thanks, I thought I tried Esc, maybe I had lost focus on the window when I did, but yes it works.

Great work.

I like how it adds a nice twist on the jam theme. Good work!

Submitted(+1)

it's fun because the first day I was thinking for a concept similar to this one!

Great work and I like the idea!

Fun and relaxing. It reminds me of the cell stage from SPORE.

This was, frankly, a delight to play! The bg being static on the player was a little disorienting (though cool) but I really loved the color pallet and overall feel. Gotta nom those asteroids, YAY! (Definitely a game that was fun to repeatedly play.)

This was super fun! Took me a second to figure out that the controls were mouse pointer based and the scale increases are a bit jerky/abrupt but overall it's a neat little game with a really cool concept and aesthetic!
