I liked it! The checkpoints are a good idea :)

Developer

Thanks for trying out our game!

I'm glad that I added the checkpoints, even though it was a rushed feature

congrats, nice platformer

Developer

Thank you for trying out our game! We really appreciate it!

Great game! The level design was excellent, challenging, and very fun. The music was nice too, although maybe a bit repetitive. I did notice some issues, like the sound effects only played in my left ear. I'm guessing it was set to mono? But no major issues of note.

Overall, really good submission! Especially for your first game jam!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for trying out our game!

The sound issue is something I kinda got confused as well until I realized that it became something like a "directional" sound since its not being played globally rather from where the object was, so sometimes it only plays on one side. I'm still not sure how to fix it, maybe a different way to play audio, but never had the time to properly research how to do it so I had to submit it this way.

Still, thank you for this! We're glad that you found it nice and fun!

This was a really well designed platformer! Lots of depth and a variety of challenges, great job!

Thanks for trying out our game! We're glad that you liked the design! :D

Really enjoyed your game, even though I did have a bit of trouble on some parts.

Great job

Developer

Thanks for trying out our game! We're glad that you were able to enjoy the game despite the bit of trouble.

If you want to, you can share what you had trouble with so I can learn from it and improve for future games that I'll be making :)

Thank you again!

Submitted

Oh no I didn't mean bugs, just kept dying on certain parts haha

I'm not sure if its in there, but adding"coyote time" and jump buffering would make these game feel even better :)

Loved the visual, the music was a tad loud, but it set the mood well.

Great job on this, had a lot of fun.

Another person has commented about these features but sadly I wasn't knowledgeable enough to know how to apply this. I'll definitely study this and see if I can add this in the game soon.

I'll try adding some options in the game soon and I'll see how I'll be able to implement the volume slider easily. Thanks for that.

We're glad that you enjoyed playing the game. Thank you!

That's the beauty of game jams eh? Learn things you didn't know ARE things.

Nice, thats a difficult one!

Difficult game! Well done!

Developer

Thank you! We're glad that you tried out our game!

I dig the concept here! I hope you can expand the added difficulty later to some more handcrafted alterations to the levels. Also enjoyed the tone of the tutorial texts. In addition to being a tutorial, they add to the atmosphere too. Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for trying out the game!

We have been thinking of when we may update the game (besides fixing some easy bugs) but after more studying we can probably update it to be better and fix some known bugs that are present in the game.

We're glad that you enjoyed playing it! Thank you!

I like the overall aesthetic, and some of the clever mechanics.
I dislike the music (sorry) it feels too jarring.

Please please use the Full Screen option under Edit Page in itch, I want to play your game in full screen.

Some of the jumps felt a little wrong, I would hope to jump at the last second and I couldn't sometimes.
Overall a good game but needs a little polish (and full screen!).

Developer

Thanks for trying out the game!

I understand that the music can be something that other people may not like, but that was the best one I could find at the time I was searching for one. No worries.

I could use the Full Screen option but the game isn't really set up to be played on full screen so you'll only see the game window on 800x600 and everything else around it is empty. I had trouble with setting it up to be in 1920x1080 so I had to upload it on a lower resolution. I'm sorry about this. I'll see if I can fix this but I don't know when I'll be able to.

And yeah, I did know that sometimes the jump doesn't work properly but I never knew how to fix it so I added on the game's description that there are known bugs. I'll try to look into how to fix it but it may take a while.

Still, thank you for trying out the game and we're glad that you still enjoyed the game despite the flaws.

Submitted(+1)

You did a really good job, I'm just hoping to help a little for the future :)

Great music, great mechanics and great design, have really enjoyed the game but if you could have the check point will be more cool and by the way I like the failing guys they didn't had mercy on me....

Developer(+1)

Thanks for trying out our game!

There should be a checkpoint in the game (Red Chest) but I understand that in some levels, it's hard to even reach the checkpoint as I did have a hard time when playing the game as well.

Still, we're glad that you enjoyed the game! Thank you!

Submitted(+1)

wonderful art. I know the theme is such and it is actually good but I don't like to start again from the beginning: ( Maybe we could be in the same or near position but in a world with more buffed traps.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for trying out the game!

There should be a checkpoint in the game (Red Chest) but it may not be enough. I just added it impulsively so I didn't have enough time to research for multiple checkpoint mechanic.

Still, we're glad that you liked some part of the game. Thank you!

What a charming style to it. The platforming was pristine and fun. Nicely done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for trying out our game!

I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the games and some of the minor details that we added in it. It's our first submission so we were nervous how other people would feel about the game. Thank you again!

Really cool game, I saw a few games that buff you when you die, but I haven't really seen that make things harder when you die. It is a really nice game. I am terrible at platformers, so thanks for giving the option to look at all the levels. I really like how the music had variations depending on the level that you were on. I did notice the comments below, I had a scale issue on my game before I tried submitting it. What helped me was going into the unity build settings, and setting the resolution to 1920 by 1080 (or whatever your game was supposed to be for your game). Then I had set it to fullscreen in the itch.io submission page.

Developer

Thanks for trying out the game! We really appreciate it~

I had quite a number of canvases used so while it's not that hard to fix, I'd have to fix all of the UI elements as well and since it was 2 hours before the deadline, I was panicking so I decided to just downscale it. It did make things look better for the page. I also updated the zoom of the camera earlier so I hope that it's not too zoomed in anymore. I'll have to take note of setting up all the canvas resolution I'll be using in the future before making any UI elements. Thank you!

Submitted(+1)

Just Stunning! I see that you used an asset pack I hadn't found on the asset store, so thank you for that. So simple but so effective.
Character movement was nice and zippy. I did struggle with it getting harder each time you died so I used my coins thinking it would take me back to the last "save point" but with reset difficulty but it took me back to the beginning of the level which was frustrating.
Agree with another commenter that the camera could stand to be zoomed out a bit.

Developer

Thanks for trying out the game!

That kind of Reset mechanic sounds really nice, but for the small game that it is currently, I had to make the player go back to the starting point of the level since the levels are really short once the player has memorized the locations of the enemies and traps. Though if we had more time to make bigger levels and I was able to figure out how to make multiple checkpoints (I just experimented on it on the fly instead of researching) that mechanic can be possible.

And as I mentioned on previous comments, the game's resolution was incorrect because I had trouble with uploading it so I had to adjust it, causing it to mess up with the originally planned player's vision. I may have thought of a solution just now but I would still like to say that there are some intended hidden from vision traps of some sort since the world is supposed to be a "deceptive" world. Makes the player try and try again and remember all the traps so they can complete the levels with as little deaths as possible, kinda like the Super Meatboy game in the repeating aspect, just with more twist. Still, I may upload an update with a little bit of zoomed-out camera soon.

Still, we're glad that you really enjoyed the game! Thank you so much!

Submitted(+1)

Great submission! The art and music went really well with each other. My only feedback might be zooming out the camera a bit because it was sometimes hard to see obstacles below. Otherwise a very great game!

No problem! Wasn't a big deal and did add a bit of challenge to it for sure. Still a great job

it got the potential to be a mobile game based on the level and everything and it is so fun

Developer

Interesting game. Love the idea of things getting harder the more you die, though that ended up killing me even quicker. One issue I had was not seeing the obstacles due to the camera.  Maybe zooming out and showing more of the level might have helped.

Developer

Thanks for trying out our game!

Regarding the camera, the game was supposed to be for a 1920x1080 resolution but I encountered issues when uploading it here so I had to downscale it to 800x600, resulting in making it harder than it already is due to the smaller area of vision. I'm still trying to figure out how to make it better without making it look weird in itch because if I set the canvas to 1920x1080 it looks weird on itch's page (at least for me it does) and the Fullscreen button felt weird and were cutting some of the corners of the game UI.

There were also intended hidden enemies especially on the last level so it would feel like the "last, hardest level", but I guess it became too hard due to the resolution issue since even I took quite a time before I finished some of the levels after uploading.

Still, thank you for trying the game and for your feedback! We're glad that you found the game interesting.
