Very tight experience! Nice art, I loved the super low resolution. I would have really liked remappable keys, though, because I don't know type on a Qwerty keyboard, so it took a bunch of getting used to. It's quite hard too - I did maybe ~10 runs and never made it past level 2 :-) Overall, though, a very solid game! Congrats on your first submission for GWJ!

I liked the game! The only downside is the key choice! It would have been easier to make everything using QAED. The fact that I need two hands to play it just made the experience a little not funny.

Keep it up

Thank you for the feedback! Having the accessibility to play with one hand isn't something that had occurred to us but in hindsight, this would be invaluable. In the future, we'll try and implement multiple key options.

Really fun and enjoyable game! Nice job!

Fun game! The difficulty accelerates quickly. :) I had to read the comments about a double attack, but I still wasn't if/when it was working for me. Music is catchy and I could see this being fleshed out into a bigger game. Great (edit: first!) submission guys.

Developer

Thank you so much Spork! There isn't a double attack in the game. I believe its because we haven't implemented enough indicators, and the attack animation isn't immediate or obvious, so people tend to hit twice to kill

Very original game, I like the controls. I do wish I could easily tell if a monster required one or two hits. Great job!

Cute little game. I’d suggest not having players re-play the tutorial after failing, as that level felt a bit slow after you got the hang of things.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! For sure, the tutorial level definitely needs to become more of a tutorial and less of a really easy level.

I like that the enemies had to come to me :) Good style and the sounds effects go pretty well with the music.

Developer

Thanks for checking it out!

the art is really cute, had a lot of fun playing, the game is really hard so i wish it had a saving system for when you complete a level.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! We planned to implement a revival system which would use up some of your points, but didn’t get around to it during the jam

Hey cute art I liked how the idle of the main character made them quite lively.

I think it would be nice if you could rebind the keys.

I also found that the sfx were maybe a bit to loud and made it harder to hear the music when you had to attack alot on higher levels, which was a shame since I really liked the music.

It was awesome how the enemies were synced up to the beat :)

Developer

We didn't get much time to add proper accessibility features but rebinding keys would definitely be at the top of the list. We'll keep in mind the sfx levels for future game jams. Thank you for your feedback <3

Cute and chill rhythm game! Had lots of fun playing it. The music and visuals contribute to the game's unique relaxing feel, which makes it stand out from the flashy and dynamic games in the genre.

Double hit notes are a nice twist, as they definitely add some "reactive" parts to the gameplay. However, I still feel like it would be better to make them stick out a bit. Also, perhaps the life system could be changed so it clears the screen of notes after you lose a life? Otherwise, it's really easy to panic and immediately lose the game.

Developer (1 edit)

I really like the idea of clearing the screen of any mobs so you have some breathing room to recover. Thank you for the wonderful feedback! ^^ We really enjoyed your puzzle snek game btw. Surprised at how many levels you were able to incorporate

Reminds me old Game&Watch Nintendo. Very satisfying to play, also it really got good rythm.

nice little game! sometimes the enemies would pass through even though i was under the impression i had timed it right, but other than that, it's a solid, and beautiful jam game! congrats! :)

thank you ^^

Love the game. A few areas to improve but the monsters and ideas are so well executed. The music is so calming. Can see this going places! FULL RELEASE!!!

Hit and Miss indicators are sorely needed though.

I like the music and art, it all feels very homey. The controls at times felt a little clunky but as I got used to it it stopped bothering me as much. Solid game, good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot!

Developer(+1)

Thank you <3 I agree about the controls feeling clunky. I think we could've done a better job with tightening them and having more indicators

I really like game (esp. the aesthetics - those colored outlines when they go in bounds are great), but I'm having a problem where it stops responding to my input and I have to reload the page. :( Also, it seems like the skeletons that come from the right always take 2 hits?

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your feedback! I also noticed the input issue, it seems when you go fullscreen it stops responding. It’s quite odd too, I’m not doing anything specific to cause that really… Will try to fix it though :)

In terms of taking two hits for skeletons from the right side, I believe it is generally due to the character animation making the hit look later than it is, will try to fix this too!

The backgrounds were quite breathtaking! :) I enjoyed the designed of the enemies and the background art a lot. The mechanics were quite interesting.  I found hitting L & P a little easier than hitting A & Q. Also, it seemed like sometimes an enemy would take two hits to kill rather than one and that threw me off.

I was able to make it to the victory screen since the score persisted. A nice ending screen. Good job!
