The little frog is so cute, especially the way he lands after stomping on the button. Yours is the first game I played all the way through!
I really liked the sprite work and animations. They were really cute. The sounds and music were really nice as well. I like the track used in the tutorial section.
As for gameplay, the charged jump and ground-pound add an interesting twist on what would be otherwise a pretty straightforward 2D platformer had a conventional jump been used. The ground-pound was a really satisfying move to use and also had some pretty cute animations. Also the use of the loop theme was a clever way to get multiple uses out of the same level.
Very nice job!
Super jeu, j'ai vraiment aimé le design de la grenouille. Facile à manipuler, les commandes sont simple. Très bon jeu.
Nice platform puzzler. The green is a good idea too, reminds me of old commodore computers. Hats are funny and the game mechs are smooth. I enjoyed playing.
Thanks for playing. Let tell you about this game, i had this idea of this game where you control a frog to destroy robots for some time, i was hoping to make a game using that concept for the console "Meowbit" but i kept procrastinating, soo i entered this jam to try to make any game using the engine of "Meowbit" but i gave a shot and joined a team as an artist. It was a team of 3 people (counting me) that ive never met before, i told them about this idea of the frog vs robots game and the programmer liked and they just did the mechanics soo well, much much better from what i was imagining. Im not a game developer, i dont have any expirience coding games, but i really like games and after i participate on my first jam (Buddy Up Jam winter 2022) i really saw how great is to be part of making a game. And for me its crazy to see how many talented people are on the world that are learning and making some really neat games and projects on jams.
That one frog looks like Charles de Gaulle and I'm here for it.
I laughed so often, what a joy to play through. The perfect length for a jam game, in my opinion. Funny how there are several games out there where you fight the same boss at different points in the story, but this shining a light on that and poking fun at it is wonderful. Great execution and concept.
What I liked:
- Arc-based jumping with a clear indicator. The added fact that you couldn't adjust your jump direction midair, you had to remember to use the stomp, made it even cooler.
- I really liked the colors you chose. I think they really work well together.
- The gradual increase in difficulty was perfect. I didn't feel like it went from easy to unreasonably hard.
- I'm a fan of breaking the fourth wall. Perfect spot to put it.
I usually try to provide some constructive criticism in my reviews, but none come to mind. I felt like it was a solid game for a jam. It felt balanced, you kept it small, but polished. Did you happen to make this in Godot as well?
No problem! And yeah, I was asking because I noticed in the tutorial the character sliding on the slope. This gave me some flashbacks of trying to deal with slopes a while back. The stop_on_slope parameter in move_and_slide() doesn't work like its supposed to in 3.x, but in 4.0, it does work and is also exposed in the inspector.
Really adorable! The character controller feels very well polished. I would love to see this get made into a larger game.
Really cute frog game, loved the randomly generated hat addition!
