Love the theme and music  - concept is very cool too.  I just found I had too little control to ever have fun.  I realise you have very little control in an actual pinball game, so that might sound like a strange complaint, but I tried for a long time to get good at it, just so I could listen to the music for a bit longer, and never really got the hang of it.

I really wanted to like this as the concept is really great, but the ball bounces so far away from anything it touches that it's difficult to really have any control over what is going on. This is especially frustrating when you have to go back to the first room after dying, which I found I couldn't reliably get through.

Love the concept, art, and sound. The execution is mostly solid, but it is insanely difficult to control. I spent forever trying to get out of the golden ball room because I would always run out of stamina before I could get to the door and the right click doesn't seem super useful. I think with more levels and more polish on the controls, you could have a really great game on your hands.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for saying. We really think so too, that with polish we can really make something special out of this. Unfortunately the pull ability assigned to the right mouse button is very weak in this build: it drains stamina faster than the LMB for very little reward. Now that we've had more time to playtest, and have gotten more feedback in general, we're really starting to iron these kinks out and are excited to have a more finished game to share soon.

I really liked the concept once I figured it out, but the layout of the board made it too difficult to enjoy.

Developer

Thanks for your feedback. Board layout is something we plan to be more careful with as we continue work on this game, in particular we're replacing the fast moving bumpers with something more sensible and giving the player a bit more control over the ball.

Really hard to control, but I kind of feel like that's what you were trying to do

Developer

Yep, thanks for playing our game! Protip: the right click can be used for finetuned movement and slowing down if you're going too fast.

The 3rd pinball game I play so far, I've never seen so much pinball game in a single jam haha
The idea is clever and the gameplay, once you have undestand how to control the beetle, is fun too play. Great job !

Developer

I haven't seen this many pinball games either in a jam, I'm glad to see there are some pinball wizards in our midst. I'm glad you liked the game, the learning curve takes some getting used to. We're adding some gameplay modes that I'm sure you'll enjoy.

That was a great idea. It's fun to play, however there is an aspect that could change in future releases. The rotation of the ball could be fixed, so the player could have more control over the ball (of course it would change that cool level design, however a balance between them would increase gameplay quality).

Very nice entry!

Developer

The bugs rotation is purely visual until you click then the bug moves to the appropriate spot and the ball reacts accordingly instantaneously while the bug may look like it's catching up. I do agree that the abilities could use some adjusting, we're working on that for a future update after the voting period ends.

Very interesting idea and it was fun to play through. I can see potential in this, with a couple of quality of life changes it could make for a compelling game. Good job.

Developer

Thanks! I agree we've been fine tuning some of the mechanics since release, they'll be pushed after voting ends.

The graphics are quite hit-or-miss, but the animations (like the pharaoh kitten) are top-notch. I really like the main mechanic, mission structure and music (well, it's RushJet of course), but the environments feel a little bit off. Also, we did the same theme of pinball w/o flippers - nice!

Developer(+1)

Understandable, we were going for the obstacles really standing out so that you could avoid them better, but due to time restraints we couldn't get as much done as we wanted. We'll be updating the game after the voting period ends so look forward to it!

Really neat concept!

Developer

Thanks! Glad to hear you liked it.

Ended with a final score of 0 (I fell into a pit with the golden ball and I guess it must have spawned me back at the start with the gold ball xD). The game is real charming and does a great job of feeling like a pinball game even tho you're not using the flippers. There's still a lack of control with the ball which is great and the physics are absolute crazy, leading to much hilarity. The art style does real well with the theme as well. A few bugs (no pun intended) here and there but otherwise a solid entry to the jam! =D

Developer

Yeah, a few of us got high scores of 0 as well. Also yes that's exactly what we were going for, unfortunately we have heard about some out of bounds bugs probably because of bumper funny business. Thank you for playing our game!
