Nice entry. I enjoyed the eerie feel, and definitely did the trick in disorienting me. Nice choices of sound effects and controls were not too sensitive. Maybe a mini-map with "fog-of-war" that's revealed when you cover it on foot?

I wasn't able to finish the game, because unfortunately I'm terrible at maze games. ;) From what I saw though, I think you did a great job! The audio creates a really ominous, creepy vibe. The ticking of the clock really started to piss me off in a good way! ;-) This is really helped by the camera effect that happens when you're close to dying. It maybe would help if there were a bit more points of recognition though, but again that might just because I suck at these type of games. :)

Wasn't much to do, but walk around. I think it'd be pretty cool have some kind of breadcrumb system.  Maybe use light as a breadcrumb. The more you use the easier it is to find but easier for the darkness to get you. I don't know. Anyway I love the feeling and the quake feel to it. The sounds and tension were really enjoyable.

A prototype, as the developer says, but surprisingly atmospheric. The clock tick is simultaneously quite unsettling, after a while, and a sign that you've ended up back in that room again. I should really make a map. Nicely implemented, and the graphics are excellent; you'd hardly know that it's only 64px square, although this is helped a bit by the "saminess" of them all; walls and floor and that's about it :) If this can be made into a small game and keep the atmosphere, it'll be good, I think!

Thank you for playing and for the feedback!  I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Got a definite Quake feeling from this one. I like the simplicity and the chillness of the audio.

I feel like the big central rooms could use more to distinguish themselves. I know that's what you've done a bit by altering placement of waterfalls and clocks, but I kept wondering if I had just walked in a circle back to where I started...

Thanks for playing and for the feedback!  I'm glad you liked the audio.  Quake is one of my favorite games, so it's definitely an inspiration.  I agree on the room design; I also found myself going in circles during testing, but didn't have enough time to add more variation.

Works a lot better at 64x64 than the "Low Rez Edition" made out - went in expecting a game clearly just designed bigger then exported smaller, found myself in a game that, for its simplicity, was absolutely superb at generating an eerie, unsettling atmosphere with its aesthetic and its sound design. Definitely feel like this deserves expansion - there's not a lot to it as is, but a game of this style and this atmosphere has masses of potential.

One thing though, that I couldn't work out if it was a technical issue or just a confusing feature - every now and then (long before the game fades to red) I would get teleported around the map, and it threw my bearings off a lot.

Developer

Thank you much!  I'm glad you enjoyed it.  I definitely built this with 64x64 in mind from the start, but I added "Low Rez Edition" in case I end up developing it further (maybe a VR version).  Huh, I've never encountered the teleporting bug, it shouldn't happen but I'll keep an eye out for it.

Nice entry. I like the ambient, the mystery and the soundtrack, pretty cool. I'm giving this a high rate. Well done.

I couldn't figure out what to do, I collected a few of those white box things but then wandered around for a while and had to give up because the brick texture was doing funny things to my eyes. I liked the atmosphere though.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you liked the atmosphere!  Sorry about your eyes.  I admit the game is not too clear on what needs to be done, but to beat it: collect four of those white box things, and then find the exit.
