This is a great couch game! I could totally see this in Mario Party if Mario Party had cooler mini-games.
Hey finally got to play it and get a rating in and honestly wow! You have managed to get so many cool things that seem ridiculous to even attempt in a game jam. There are small touches in the bars depleting on the character, multiple bomb types, decent AI pathing, local co-op (unfortunately could not test), a character creator, and what was an even extra touch that it remembers my character from last play session when I reopen the game! So yeah awesome entry and super impressed!
This was my character :D
good game! I liked the movement system, however, I prefer the up arrow to move forward :) the music was cool and the gameplay was catchy. well done!
I absolutely love this character creator! Such a simple way of making something unique with just 3 buttons. I'm a sucker when it comes to personalisation so i spent way too long just making sure my robot looks just right.
The gameplay was nice too, i imagine it's best experienced by playing with other people, sadly it's just me in here at the moment. The controlls were clean and the game played well, but the bots could be just a bit more aggresive. It would be really fun with online multiplayer, but i understand that might be difficult to set up for a game jam.
Overall, a nice game with an amazing character creator.
Fun and easy to pick up is my takeaway from this!
It's sumo wrestlingxbumper cards, so really what's not to like?
The shape randomizing part of the character customization was a cool addition.
The AI seemed to do a good job, reminded me a little of the faux-multiplayer on some .io games. It killed me a few times when I got too greedy.
Could totally see this working commercially with a little bit of expansion.
Cool entry, nice job!
As expected from you, the technical accomplishment in this entry is astounding, considering that you do everything by yourself! Bravo! The idea is nice, and handling the split screen and the second player is the nice touch! To be honest, though, the various power up functions are unclear, and having a second bar under the boost bar (which I deduce stands for the health) and with the same color is confusing at best. Anyway, great job!
The energy bar is a fair point. I had orginally designed it with a total of 4 players and all the health bars on screen. when I doubled it to 8 the screen space for the other bars was too much. I always knew it was going to be ultra simple as I scoped that part as a 'it will just have to do' part of my to do list. I was having to be really disiplined as I knew I had a lot less time and energy than usual. Still plenty to add in the future I guess. Thanks for the nice words. I really enjoyed yours too. Lots of juice!
good game. After I read the guide, the goal was clearer. the controls were a little bit hard to get used to but I think it contributed a bit to the challenge. adding 2 player here was brilliant and a feat for 7 days.
Very good game, the controls as others have said take a bit of getting used too but after I got used to them this game was very fun, the AI is very well made and very good ideas for the powerups and good design of the arena, good job!
I think it closes tonight at midnight. I decided to leave it as is. Part of it being that way was to do with the theme anyway. The boost is behind and thus the control points backwards. Subtle and not really that significant but that was my contribution to the theme, exploring all the bits I could with leaving behind.
Good game. The only issue I had was that key layout is a bit unnatural. Putting the thrust on 'W' and '↑' would help a lot.
This was amazing! I love the randomness between each round as well, I started with a really small arena on the first go around (and may have flown off the edge!), but my second time I started with a 100 size 0.0
The AI was really fun and aggressive at times! and I love the create your own character section :)
Also the art for the floor tiles was amazing ♥
Great game; I was really impressed with the enemy AI, they felt organic like I was battling other players. Really solid arena layout with some cool powerups to use too. I enjoyed the physics, skidding around the arena was a blast and very satisfying, knocking enemies off the platform. Another smart game.
Thanks dude. I was really not sure i'd be able to take part in this one, but I managed to make this with a lot less time than I normally would. I have never been so disciplined with feature creep in my life! I even submitted it way ahead of the deadline. I've changed! I am pleased with how it turned out. Sometimes keeping it simple is the best way to go.
This is a really cool game. Reminds me of the sumo bots that we have in college hahahaha. The 2 player mode is also cool which then reminds me of good ol' multiplayer game with friends/siblings. Didn't expect that AI for a game jam but it is really cool. I also like the shrinking arena which makes it more challenging. Well done!
And I rated the game don't worry hahahaha
Pretty cool submission! Really awesome that you were able to integrate a 2 player mode into your game! That's a very ambitious feature! It's a pretty fun battle royale style game akin to something like Bomberman, really neat concept! The AI was surprisingly pretty good for a game jam made in 2 weeks. The music and sound effects sounded pretty 80s sci-fi, I do think the song got a little repetitive fast. Pretty solid gameplay though, the controls were simply but hard to get good with. I do love challenging games though! Great creation for just being made by 1 person in just 1 week. :)
Graphically, super unique.
I respect the simplicity of mechanics that make it easy to play and enjoy.
Fun game! I notice a similarity in the music between this and Six Sided Solids: you definitely have a style! I had fun learning the mechanics, which were pretty intuitive, while failing to win at first. Watching the match resolve between AIs helped with this learning, and I was able to win on the third or fourth game, I think. I imagine that the two player mode would be even better, and do plan to check it out.
A brilliant submission, especially considering that you've been unwell. Thanks for sharing!
