The warp mechanic of the game is brilliant. Nice job!

Using the screen-wrap to dodge felt really good.

Liked the boss designs.

My only complaint is that the first boss is the hardest.

OK. I want to say I hated this game ... until I loved this game!

It wasn't really clear from the tutorial that you could exit the screen and you would re-emerge on the opposite side of it. During the first boss battle I notice I jumped up from the top and ended up through the bottom, but thought that was maybe a glitch. It didn't help that the GUI was drawing correctly when I wasn't in fullscreen mode:

Then I realized I couldn't avoid the enemies raining blood across screen attack no matter what and discovered I had infinite jumps and could exit the left side and enter back in on the right side. Before that I was going to ask for an easy mode!

After I knew more of the mechanics, this was an absolute blast to play. Though I really wish the up arrow was jump.

I think if the third boss had actually been the first boss, players would have picked up on the ability to use the edge to their advantage (very clever use of the requirement by the way!).

Great boss states, nice varied attacks. Good flow and I loved the juice you did put into it. On boss two, I wish destroying his mini-monsters gave more feedback.

Overall though, I'm glad I kept repeating the initial boss fight because this ended up being one of my favorite games so far ... and this is my 70th game played and rated! Great work. Awesome solo dev effort.

This game has something very charming too it, all the art and animations are great.  Very challenging but, I kept trying another run

nice game it would of been better  if you used the up key to jump

Wow, this game is HARD! I had no chance even getting a few hits on the first game. It also starts so fast, I always got hit the very first time without even having a moment to orient myself.   Having jump on x also felt like a weird choice as I kept mixing up the jump and shoot keys. Would have prefered to jump on space or up.

But it is a very polished looking game and I liked the implementation of the themes 👍

One of my favourite games of the jam so far. The gameplay is so solid.

It would be nice if the boss fights ramped up, rather than keeping the same intensity throughout.

The retro music and art felt very appropriate for this kind of game.

Really cool game! Art looks good, music fits quite well. I think the collision boxes were a little too big for the enemies though. Sometimes i hit the boss even though i clearly didn't and i died to that so many times haha

Extremely fun. Really cool!

Loved the art, the music and the sound effects.
I really just wish there were more to it. The bosses were great and offered variety in attacks.

Awesome!

Very well put together game! Extremely difficult haha, but very fun nonetheless.

Nice little battle boss arena style game! I also liked the screen wrapping mechanic. I would enjoyed some tighter controls (basically a less floaty jump), but regardless still fun. I like that you had to use the screen wrapping to avoid certain attacks too!

Super hard, super unique. This game is a nice idea and i love using the edges of the screen to your advantage. Makes the player feel smart and i love to feel smart. ^^ This game might easily expandable. I like it! :)

Decent game, very difficult start, but gradually got better later (maybe other way around?)

Speed of the horizontal and vertical movement felt a little too fast to me, but apart from that it played quite well.

Honestly like the design of your main character sprite a lot ;)

That was  fun, but in my opinion the difficulty is reversed. For me the last boss was the easiest but i really struggled on the first one. Maybe it's just me getting used to the controls. Nice take on the theme , good  job !

I really like this game because there is a real effort in gamedesign. Boss fight with edge of the screen mecanics.  Music volume was too high. Why didn't you make up arrow jumping ? Controls were too clunky. Overall it's a good game, i first tried the 3rd boss, difficulty was weird too but i enjoyed it a lot !

I enjoy the fact that when you fall off the screen, you're then appearing on top, that's kinda fun. My main concern with that entry are the controls: why Z & X ? Why don't you use SPACE for jump for example?

The theme is respected, the gameplay isn't bad and would be fun if the controls were a bit more normal. Not a bad entry!

Thank you for the review! As for the controls, I used Z and X because it’s just the default keybindings I like to use, and honestly I probably should have realized not a lot of people might be used to that setup. I’ll keep that in mind next time!
