Loved it! each of the formations gives a different moveset and introduces its own challenge. Felt harder when rotations got uncontrollable, but it really spiced the gameplay up!

Absolutely phenomenal! The "gimmick", controls, level design, everything really comes together and polished to bits. Good job!

wow, this entry is super underrated. an interesting and well-implemented idea, I enjoyed it a lot. it seems really polished from the level design standpoint, and more people should see it and play. there's a couple of technical issues though, maybe that's the reason for it going under the radar. the game didn't run on one of my laptops (music was playing but it stayed on the Godot screen for too long), and the other is FPS drop I experienced after getting hit, and it was getting worse until I got healed. something to do with shaders maybe?

anyway, if you can run it on your PC you absolutely should. great job!

Developer(+1)

Sorry there were technical issues! It should just be a standard Godot project without any special extra components, so I'm not sure what the cause was. Thanks for playing regardless!

no need to be sorry, I just felt you may find this intel useful :)

This is really clever game mechanics, well done!
Super cool design with the wizard as well, and I liked that it was not instant so you had some room to prepare the blast knockback.

Superb !!! The mechanism is really a thing and super fun. I really do like how the movement-related abilities are also linked to this concept.

Also nice polished with nice audio and art, Congrats !

Really cool game, I love the joined together theme, and the difficulty curve was spot on.  Extra points for dual-purpose use of the wizard as an attack and a dash.  If the player could swap in new characters with different abilities to build a team, you could really push the concept further, great job!

Developer (1 edit)

Swapping in different characters to customize your team is a great concept, especially if it were more action oriented. Thanks!

It feels complete,  with a lot of nice little details. I would have prefer to be able to rotate the party a little bit more freely.  Kudos!

Great concept and execution, by far the best level design I've seen in the jam so far. Great stuff here.

Very interesting with attractive graphics, sound and simple operability. I just played until I cleared it. How to use Wizard is the key. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to use the abilities of the character that was damaged and darkened. I like this game!

lol

Very cool game idea. I love the characters. Did you play with the idea of letting the player control the party rotation with a keypress? It would have totally changed how the levels need to be designed. There's def a lot of potential here!

Developer

Thanks! I actually planned to have a section where you unlock the ability to rotate at will - it would definitely have made some very different and hopefully fun levels. Unfortunately I had to cut it for scope and pacing.

Sound effects would take this to the next level! I love the visual of a party of heroes all in a grid together standing on each other's heads! Well done with this jam!

Developer

Thank you! It does have sound effects, but I stupidly put the keybind for toggling sound as 'S', right in the middle of WASD. : ( Thankfully there's no "down" command in gameplay, but it's still too easy to press by accident. I guess that's what happens when you add volume controls at the last second.

Clean concept! It really adds to a fun little party of wacky fantasy characters. Also, clever healthbar design!

Developer

Thanks! I'm glad the healthbar concept came through. : )
