In what way does your game fit the theme?
The main character (Kevin) is being experimented on due to his mysterious time-manipulation powers. He uses these to get through the day unharmed.

Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
We made almost all of the code and assets ourselves, some from this jam and some from past jams. Music and most of the SFX were not created from scratch and are credited in the description :)

Nice game, i liked the art style. The music however is horrible sorry xD Was a bit confused on how to interact with things to use the IP. I didn't understand how to exit the dialogue windows, and pressing escape made the WebGL build crash, probably something in the code that can't be executed in WebGL.

Overall nice looking art, but the gameplay needs to be more clear & the music changed in my opinion. Good job for this game!

Would appreciate if you try and rate our game too: https://hadilepanda.itch.io/corewind

Developer

Oops, I guess you're right ๐Ÿ˜… I must've forgotten to put that in the tutorial. Thank you for the compliment though, I made the GIF ;)

Good job on completing the game Jam! Not many games here have a story. well done

Developer

Thank you! A story game was new for me, and our team worked really hard to give the game a little bit of lore ;)

Nice job! Some really fun world building/story telling going on here :D

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it, we had fun writing the story :)

Fun game! Although it would be cool if items you picked up in later hours could come back with you. That would have been pretty cool. But I liked the game, nice work!

Developer

Yeah, I think our main issue is that we didn't include the theme all that much. If we end up expanding this we would definitely make the rewind feature more interesting though!

Submitted(+1)

Well done.  I'm enjoying this still.

Developer

Thanks so much for playing! :)

I dont usally ask this, but can you please also play my game? Im really short on ratings for my game. You dont have to of course.

Developer(+1)

Oh for sure! It may be a few days before I'm able to but I'm sure the other devs and I can :) We usually play the games of those who rate us too anyway!

Ah alright. Thank you :D

Wonderful puzzle game. Fairly simple without too much guesswork. Well done!

This game was so awesome! I liked the challenge level and how it was usually fairly easy to figure out what to do, but still you had to decide how to use the limited IP. The part where the guards argue about the cake is hillarious! The only complaint I have is that the sound is very overwhelming with lots of different noises. Other than that, it was a great game!

If you get a chance, please try out and rate my game. I hope you like it! Thanks :) https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/722658

Good thing we added pause menu with P! You can turn down the volume!

Really cool game and I liked the art-style! Took me a while to figure out that space ends the dialogue (my fault for not fully reading the text at the start, I'm more of a skimmer). I really enjoyed trying to figure each room out.

Developer

Thanks for playing through it fully! I actually got feature creep halfway in!

I like the style. I appreciate that the game has some sort of story to it, which I think is rare in game jams.

The idea of rewinding isn't used in the game-play, which I would have liked. It's just resetting the level when you did something wrong: basically all games have that. But the theme works because it's a part of the story  (characters know Kevin can rewind time). I was expecting and hoping for a mechanic where you get stuff from future hours and have to go back in time to do stuff. It would be more of a puzzle that way. For example, the cake could appear at the last hour. Then you go back in time to the 2nd hour where the guard says he likes cake and that's when he lets you out. You could also do something like that with the cauldron. In a future level a scientist explains why it's relevant, so you can go back and interact with it.

I think I like your game idea better than our actual game ๐Ÿ˜‚ But seriously, thanks you so much for playing and giving such great feedback! :)

Very enjoyable

Developer

Glad you liked it! We are pretty proud of how it turned out :)

The art was great, but I couldn't stand the audio very much. Mainly the screeching portions.

I also couldn't actually figure out what to do on hour 2.. I know it has something to do with cake and a keycard, but I couldn't find a filing cabinet or cake... The couldron, sink and vials didn't progress anything if they were supposed to unless there's an order to it?

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I agree that the audio is a little annoying at times ๐Ÿ˜…. Also, on hour 2 you have 2 interaction points, so you are simply spending them by talking to two of the three people in that room (and gaining information for later). None of the other objects in the room are significant to the story, so they do not affect your IP. Who you need to talk to in order to continue is up to you to figure out though ;) I do hope you give it another try, but if not I still understand. Sorry that it wasn't super clear!

Submitted(+1)

Maybe I just didn't talk to the right combination of 2?
I did notice though that hour 1 had a mission notice at the top while hour 2 did not. So I was just a bit lost ๐Ÿ˜…

Developer

Yeah sorry about that. The mission thing was part of the plan originally, then we decided against it, but then put it back at the very end haha. I was afraid it might give the wrong message though ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

This was a neat little puzzle game! It took me a few tries because I kept making the wrong choices lol. Good game :)
