In what way does your game fit the theme?
In every way, a cassette rewind and shotting film to get to a reminder and record another level :D

Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I did! :D

Fun game! I really like your character's design too!

This is a very cute little game! I love the swinging mechanic and your main menu layout is great. You've done a really good job with this! Well done :)

A fun platformer for certain- definitely didn't expect this sort of usage for tape! Good work~

The tutorial is really good and explains the mechanics of the game pretty well. It was sometimes a bit hard to see the platforms with the background though, and clicking the orbs mid-jump was also pretty challenging, although that may intended. Some more sound effects, e.g. for jumping and swinging, would improve the game a lot!

Really well put together game, the background got a bit awkward to look at over time but solid game!

I like the little details like the choice of skin, the tutorial, the sound effects. Think you did a great job at trying to visualize your game concept which looks pretty tough to achieve imo.

But i did feel like the background started to become very (physically) displeasing after a while (maybe a slower animation would be better).

Anyways good job :) Feel free to test out my game too ^^

Lets break this down…

The background animation kinda makes it hard to see the level.

The film mechanic is quite fun but I wish there was a pull up and down feature. The film grapple mechanic could use some more work as you have to predict where the orb will be after you jump to catch it.

The level designs were pretty weel thought althoguh difficult.

All in all I enjoyed the game…

Do check out my game.

All the best.

Hi, i've played and rated your game. It's a good jump n run and it's really fun to play. Well done!

Challenging platformer with great artwork. Even though the art was very nice, it was a bit distracting sometimes.

Good game! Was fun to play, and I like the cassette take on the theme.

Felt a bit ehhhh about the graphical style though. The cassette character looked good, but I found the overlay in the foreground a bit too much (might've been better on a lower opacity).

Swinging around using the tape is fun, although it did have its problems; the momentum when swinging felt a bit off at times, and the click detection on the light bulb felt kinda unforgiving.

Other than that though, really liked it. Good job!

I had a lot of fun playing your game. At first, I didn´t really understand how to play the game and played it by using a bug (pressing w and space together let´s you jump higher). Then I understood that you can click on the lights to get a grappling hook. After that discovery it was much more fun. Thanks for creating this game.

I´ve submitted a local multiplayer game: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-4/rate/722755. I would be happy to get your feedback on it. :-D

Developer

yeah, someone missed the tutorial button xD, thanks for the heads up in the bug!

Enjoyed this one but your levels were possible without collecting the extra obstacles. Don't know if this was intended or not. Artstyle was nice.

I liked the idea and the graphics are well done.

What I didn't like is the aggressiveness of the "old TV effects" and some of the game designs. Like how am I supposed to know I need to jump into the void... In the opposite direction?

I love the visuals! The main menu itself is a masterpiece!
Unfortunately I got stuck in lvl 2 - couldn't make the jump, even tried blindly jumping in other directions but haven't found any platform to land on - I'm sure it must be just my lack of skill though ;)
Good job overall!

Congrats on the submission, making a game is not easy and specially with the constraints of time and theme.

Nice simple platformers with rewind and swing mechanic. I would say that the swing needs a bit of tweaking, maybe focus on only one mechanic at a time for the next jam. I didnt use the rewind too much since the level design feels more on the swing side.

I would say platforms are always tought to make and to get the feel right, this one needs a bit more of tweaking to make the character feel less floaty and the aiming mechanic for shooting the film was a bit difficult for me as well.

The graphics are a bit hard on the eyes, I understand the feel of old movie but at first I thought i was going to get a jump scare since the film background gave me that vibe.

Good work overall and hope to see you in more jams.

I think the post processing effects are a bit aggressive and collision could be sharper but the game play is good otherwise.

Love the art and the music. It's a challenging but fun platformer. And maybe sometimes even rage inducing.

That's the best description yet!

The music and the art style is pretty cool!
