This is such a neat game! I love how relaxing it is, and the interface is really nice. The animations and art style are very unique and really draw you in. I did feel like the pace of events was a bit too fast - but once I realized how to queue up actions it wasn't too bad. I was always just worried I was missing a thought process! Great job on this, it was such a unique experience!

My first time playing this sort of idle game, very cool!

Really nice and beautiful game. I liked it a lot. I was not able to see the end since the game crashed with a white screen. I found the text a bit hard to read as I’m not a native English speaker. Very relaxing and entertaining experience!

Developer (1 edit)

Oh no! So sorry about the crash (and the speed being too fast for non-native speaker) D:

Can you let me know what version you were using (web/windows/mac/linux)?

(+1)

I was using the web version

That was a nice game!

You know how I complained about it playing itself and all on the game page? Well apparently my dumb butt did not know what idle games are until this game hahahahhahahaa! I really should read game descriptions more thoroughly.

The graphics were amazing and I liked the vibe it gave. It was pretty relaxing just watching the astronauts stream of thoughts while doing stuff.

And the alien at the ending caught me off guard, and that cracked me off lol!

I guess the only thing I'd point out is maybe the flow of the text could've been a wee bit slower because there were times that I couldn't keep up with the text of the notes, or maybe just add a pause feature just like what the bottom comment mentioned.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Haha, no worries! Glad you commented, gave it a second chance, and enjoyed it, especially the ending!

Also thanks for the additional feedback on the speed of text -- helps confirm it's the sort of thing I should pay more attention to in the future.  :)

what an amazing game! I love the idea of being a person's conciseness. You should totally expand of it!

I'm enjoying this. It's fun how it will play itself if you're not too sure what to do. Some fun dialogue options too: "what does it look like I'm doing now?" It's a good way of telling a story and the art looks incredible. My only complaint is that it's a bit difficult to tell what to do past the third letter. I got stuck for a while, didn't realize you could just type 'note' haha. A pause option may have been nice so I could read back through the dialogue (not that it's really necessary to do so). I think every time a new message is printed it scrolls to present immediately. great game!

The art is just amazing I really like all the effect and design on this game.

Took me a while to figure out what to do, I didn't read the description. :p

My first idea was to try to move the character with the usual controls "arrows"  / "awsd" or click and point, however once I realized I needed to type keywords on the terminal it was a surprisingly fun and interesting gameplay.

Now I understand the struggle of my brain to make me stop watching tv and do something productive :D

Overall looks like a very complex and polished concept considering the short period time of the jam.

This is a rare concept. A bit like having Animal crossing play it self and only interrupting when appropriate. The music is relaxing ant the pixel art pretty.

What I'd like to see if you extend on this is a twice as large font in the console. Turning the game play speed down notch, or having a speed guage (like in 'The Sims') would also be appreciated; it'd keep me from constantly ordering the poor astronaut to do things they just did while I was focused on typing.

Developer(+1)

Oh, good ideas! I was worried about the text size being too small but never got around to modifying that...

Speed options would actually be a pretty simple change too with the code as is as well!

Thanks for playing and giving feedback 😄

Brb I have a sudden urge to make a life full of potatoes and TV...

In seriousness though, I love the concept and it's a very endearing world you've created!

His thoughts are a little hard to keep track of, but I really like that it gives that feeling that you're feeding into his mind, and just like a real brain, his mind really races and you gotta focus on the keypoints to prompt him from procrastinating.

Rather therapeutic to watch him go about his business!

I think it's the first time I play a concept like this one, to be honest. It's super original and that mix between text adventure and sim impressed me a lot!

Music is also really good and graphics really beautiful.

Good job with your game!

really interesting concept! I managed to find all of the notes and I think I reached the ending (I got a success status and the input box stopped accepting inputs). I did have a tough time feeling like I was directing things, but I think that was part of the experience.  I definitely agree that the scope seemed pretty ambitious, but I think you pulled it off pretty well to deliver a really compelling experience. The music fit the tone really well and by the end I was definitely feeling sympathy for the astronaut, which is a difficult thing to do for a gamejam game I think.

really solid entry. nice job :)

Developer(+1)

That was indeed the ending! 😄

Aww, glad to hear you felt for the astronaut. They've had a tough life *nods*

Cool concept and nice atmosphere!
I couldn't get it to do anything tho, it always told me that he was busy hahaha. Also, I tried to read the previous texts to see if I miss something, but the new texts brought me down each time :(

Developer(+1)

Oh, that's good feedback! Didn't think about the new text dragging the whole thing down...

From the sound of you getting the "I'm busy" feedback, I think you might have been influencing the character, but he just hadn't gotten to it on the queue yet. Still annoying! A stretch goal I had was to make additional suggestions to do an action move that action up in the queue, or otherwise have more immediate action taken by the character, which I think would have made it feel better.

Thanks for playing!

Submitted (1 edit)

I agree. Also, probably a way of visualizing the queue more clearly would make it less troublesome!

Nice concept but a little confusing on which commands to use.  This is a big project for a 1 week jam so I'm seeing this continue further out of the jam.  Or at least I hope so.

Developer

Yeah, I think to really make the game feel responsive, there'd have to be some natural language processing, branching dialogue, and a much more complex prioritization system (that's maybe even visualized) 😅

Thanks for playing and the feedback!

A very nice story, and an unexpected spin on the theme. I loved the visuals and sfx!

Submitted(+2)

Reminds of The Sims series where the character just behave on their own say unless you command them to do something. Overall, very unique game, with pretty visuals. I like it.

I really like the terminal/text base controls and trying to figure out what you can get the astronaut to do. I don't know if I'm misunderstanding, but it seemed like the only necessary command to find and use in order to complete the game was "page" or the equivalent(s). Most of the rest seemed superfluous, not that that's necessarily a bad thing. It was fun to see all the things you can suggest the astronaut to do and then watch them carry them out. Very peaceful atmosphere, good stuff.

Developer(+1)

Haha, you are not missing anything. Continuously typing "page" will definitely get you to the end screen. We were a bit ambitious with this project and initially planned for some more interactions and needing to do something like influence the character's mood in a positive way for them to do anything beyond eat/sleep/tv/toilet, but game jam crunch time  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks for playing and giving feedback!
