I really like this game! It's a simple concept that is well executed. I enjoy the puzzles and how you have to break them to progress.

I enjoyed how things started to switch around and a deeper story would become uncovered. This game has tons of potential and it's kinda a shame it has little recognition.

Overall fun project! I hope you continue to build on it and good luck with you future game dev!

Developer

thanks for playing it and i hope you anticipate the next game i release.

Submitted

This game is weird in an interesting way. I kinda like that it "breaks" if you don't adhere to "proper" puzzles. I like that one impossible to do "properly" level.

I think that graphics and storytelling could use a bit more work, but it's a good first try. Great job!

Developer

yeah i didnt have much time to work on sprites, and i agree that the dialogue could be a bit better, thanks for playing it, and i hope you anticipate the next game i release as it will be very different from this one but better in every way.

Once it's more clear what your goals are, I think it's a cool idea to have the levels change around once you're part way through them! Definitely has a mysterious vibe where you're trying to figure out how everything works, but by the time I'd beaten it I'm still not sure I know.

Developer

yeah it certainly became confusing as time to fully create, thanks for playing through it entirely.

After finishing the main ending i want people to use this comment to try and explain their interpretations of what was going on with replies.

also i will be going into detail about what my main game in development is soon so if you are interested i will be uploading details about it in another page.

I'm... not sure of what i just experienced...
but i reached the end.
I understood nothing XD
honestly, the only bad thing that i'm sure it's bad, it's in a lvl, there's a yellow square that makes you go 2 lvls back.
If it's your first project, it's pretty good

Developer

yeah dont worry im gonna patch that "one room forward 2 rooms back" part, and yeah that was my first project, but it was made in preparation for a full on game im making that should get a demo released within 10 weeks.

Ok, if t's a real project, i'll get further into my feedback
- i had trouble understanding the color code, if i remember correctly, it was written that green was heal but some green things reset the lvl
- maybe use more differents shapes than squares. Like, a flag for the goal, to always know what is what.
- both the dialogs and the goal get you to the next lvl i think so i don't see the point having both in a lvl (but you told there were different endings so maybe it's for that)
- during the dialogs please go to the line each time someone has finished to speak. It'll be more pleasant for the eyes.
- for the life bar, write it's the life bar, or else we just see another square on the screen.
- i didn't understand the mechanic that make things move everywhere. Like, you go out of the path and then it moves ? That's strange.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback however, all of the green resets you actually, it just depends on if you are at full health or not, being at full health and attempting to immediately gain health will just reset the player as does death.
Also the press space is the object that would send the player to the next room, not including these in every room may also give the impression that there was nothing after that room.
Yeah i completely agree with the dialogue being on different lines however i was using the same canvas for the dialogue in a sprite maker so i would need to resize it which may make it stretch strangely.
yeah the life bar did look a little off after finishing it but if you were able to recognise its a life bar after taking damage then it does its job.I will get to fixing it though.
Hitting the edge of the screen is actually the trigger for making everything start to move. It allows the player to not only get hit by the blue at almost any time but also gives them access to the yellow in some rooms.

One more thing in your last message you said there was a room that sends you back to a certain level, can you be more specific about that? i'm going through testing the game now and cant seem to find it, but you are not the only person who has complained about it so i want to fix it.

Submitted

ok, then you need a better tutorial to explain the mechanics that are not obvious.

So if i remember correctly. There's 2 rooms with the same walls. In the second one, there's 4-5 blue squares preventing the player to get to the goal. It's this room.

Developer

do you mean the room you are up to before you go back or the room you get sent back too? because i need the room you get sent from

Submitted

from ? Yeah that's the room i described. In this room, the yellow square get you back 2 rooms before

Developer

alright, thanks, ill get to work fixing that soon

This was really impressive for a first project! I think you have some good ideas, and it's also impressive that you're including a story right off the bat! I did have some trouble figuring out what was going on, but it was definitely interesting.

Developer

thanks for reaching the story ending, also the story is actually based on a secondary plotline of my main game development project, since I only had 48 hours to make it I wasn't able to actually include all my ideas but in the next game i will elaborate entirely on all my ideas present here.

I'm not sure what's going on but I like it

Developer(+1)

Honestly same

Developer (1 edit)

One thing i should mention is that there are multiple endings.Have fun figuring that out.also that although it is stated that i used pre existing audio, that's only because i couldn't make a sound effect for the pickups, i did make the song.

Submitted

Very interesting idea. it was short and weird at the end and i liked It :) Very well done :)

Developer

thanks for trying it, it definitely a strange project to make, being given only 48 hours to make kinda prevents too much progress from being made, but the thing i mentioned at the end will certainly be a much better project.

Submitted

Kind of reminds of those games I used to play on my phone, though a little different since I'm only moving one block. Loved the puzzles though! Great game!

Developer

thanks for that

Submitted

Interesting little project - hard to grasp at first, but liked it.

Developer

yeah i also agree that the tutorial could've been a bit better but it did get the main point across i think

Submitted

Surely an interesting little game, glad I went through and played it fully :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for trying it
