Great art, I also like the soundtrack a lot. It's also cool you added a tutorial because I jumped straight into the game at first and was confused then I tried the tutorial.
Congratulations, this game is so cool and fun, good art, good music, good everything, good job and good luck in the jam!
One of my favorite games!! Amazing art, great music and sound, and really cool enemies. Great job!! :]]
This is a great idea for the theme. You still need to choose which polarity you are invincible to. I would have like the hitbox to be slightly more forgiving because sometimes my bullets just graze by the enemies this would improve the feel for the player too. Great game nonetheless!
A really good execution, my favorite thing is definitely the graphics, look just amazing I love how the enemies look. I think the sfx could use some pitch shifts, if they are there I'm sorry then they could be slightly increased.
Hey thanks for playing! In this case I think the pitch shift issue lies 100% with me as the programmer, our Music/SFX member made some really great sound effects and I've pitch shifted a few of them (the shield block FX are probably the most noticeable) but I definitely needed to up the range on the player shooting sounds in particular, hope you still enjoyed regardless!
It’s a fair enough nitpick. I did suggest bringing the default SFX level down slightly (in menu) and though this sounds simple - in this case it would’ve done wonders for the overall mix. Just happened to be one of those things that slipped through the cracks in the rush to meet the deadline unfortunately (I certainly don’t blame Calum for it, since the root problem was more balancing and quite an easy fix).
Thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed the game!
Super impressed by this game. Great art, audio, theme well incorporated, all-around a great experience.
Too bad I suck at these and my mind can't handle everything going on :')
Still definitelly among my top 5 in the jam.
P.S. This is not on you but you might want to know, on Firefox as soon as I press left mouse button the character starts flying down as if pulled by gravity
Really appreciate your kind words about the game and art overall. Sorry for the difficulty 🫡
This is hilarious considering how much trouble I had with your team’s game too (which I did manage to finish with great struggle).
Thanks so much for your comment. I genuinely found “Mockia” to be an unforgettable experience and recommend more people play/rate it.
Also keep in mind that the enemy waves in this game are somewhat randomized. That's how I learned to cheese the game and I've now beaten it three times, even if I'm not the level of beast that Calum is when he plays this game. He is able to swap his Polarity within seconds, I primarily scum the game with the Fusion Mode myself 😅Sometimes you get lucky with the enemy placement, and the shield they receive or better yet no shield at all
Thanks so much for your feedback and we're really glad you enjoyed it so much, especially if these sort of games aren't usually your thing as you said! Also thanks for letting us know about the movement bug, someone else had the same issue while running in Firefox so that gives me a good idea of where to start looking into fixing it!
This game is the definition of simple idea, great implementation. Switching colors to be able to shoot specific enemies is really clever and the mouse controls were also very simple to understand. This really is a nice game and the art was really clean. It is not easy to nail outlineless pixelart but this game handled that with ease and grace. The sound track is also very nice, it gave me nostalgia of an era I didn't even live lol.
This was a very enjoyable experience and a great game, I would love to hear your thoughts on my game, JANTA-9.
It is so cool to find a fellow SHMUP-enjoyer ~ Yeah, our team got really big-brain when they came up with the gameplay-hook based on a lot of our brainstorming and my base idea
Bravesun's aim for a vapourwave style music (however unintentional) was really smart because it fully sells the idea and feeling of an authentic arcade Gradius-like experience that I was aiming for when I suggested the music-style for this game, the imitation-Gradius effect is fantastic and it could genuinely pass for something you'd hear in an old arcade-game. And we all already know how good Jonah's art is so I don't even need to add to that discussion ~
Thank you for recognizing how much work we put into this! ^_^
The tutorial and settings were not working for me.Changing the colour of your force shield to be invincible to your enemies bullets was really creative. The art was also nice.
Nice work.
That's . . . bizarre. The tutorial does have the player ship in it, but just as a slide-image. The "background" is supposed to be there too. Because it is a slide it doesn't have any enemies in it, it isn't an actual tutorial level. Calling it a "tutorial" is a bit misleading because 'tis just more like "instructions" since all it has are still-images. What's happening with the settings makes no sense though . . .
Maybe this game is too powerful for your device? Although I doubt it. Does this problem exist with the exe or the browser-version?
Man, the new generation will never understand how good this style of game is. It really reminded me of one of the first games I ever played, Space Impact on those old Nokia phones. Simple but super addictive, just hits that nostalgia perfectly. I’d really appreciate it if you could rate my game too
You can see the passion put into this game, especially since you can’t even find a bug or a missing feature.
The attention to detail, like the music changing when you open the menu, is the cherry on top.
Super well done
Calum is a John Carmack -level coding-wizard. The smooth, bugless experience came at the cost of us having to leave out a lot of stuff that we originally wanted to implement into the game, but in retrospect I'm glad we did instead of half-assing and shoehorning in complicated features that would have more than likely broken without the help of a second coder. Calum was able to do a lot and in a reasonable timeframe considering he had the Herculean-effort of doing all of this by himself, he's one of the most reliable programmers I've ever had the hounour of meeting ~
I'm glad you noticed that Bravesun has essentially created two versions of almost every track in the game! ^_^ It was nice attention-to-detail that helps to really spice up the game in a special way ~
Suuuper polished, looove the aesthetic and the gameplay feels really smooth. Really great job man, good luck in the the jam. If you added more weapons, upgrades, maybe a star fox sort of progression system with levels i think this would really go crazy
This is really polished, and the mechanics are simple but effective! All of the art is really incredible! Overall, this game is really amazing and I had a lot of fun playing it!
This is like playing Gradius or R-Type again, but with the shield switching of Ikaruga. I enjoyed going through the 3 levels, but the ship kept going downward, which made aiming/dodging much harder. Not sure if that was intentional. Otherwise, good job with the game!
Hey, thanks for playing! The player ship should only move when you move your mouse so if it's always moving down that definitely wasn't intentional on our part, would you mind sharing the browser you were playing on? I don't think we've encountered this bug so far and I'd love to pinpoint what caused it!
Loved the whole retro vibe of this game! Such an unique twist to the classic Space Invaders! Great work!
The art and sfx are fantastic here, feels super polished, I enjoyed it a lot! Skipped the tutorial but quickly figured it out.
Wow what a cool, its so polished and cohesive.
The sfx a music are really good too.
The animation when boss in the sand area explode are really good and lil dude who comes out is great.
Great Job and good luck in the Jam
