your spaceship game is very well made!, your pixel art is wonderful! both the spaceships during the game and the background!, congratulations

Developer(+2)

The pixelart is specifically Kekaiyø's, our artist's. Say hi Kekaiyø if you're around!

Submitted(+2)

hi kekaiyo!! :D

Submitted(+3)

Great art, I also like the soundtrack a lot. It's also cool you added a tutorial because I jumped straight into the game at first and was confused then I tried the tutorial.

Submitted(+3)

Cool theme interpretation. The art is phenomenal, so so good.

Developer(+2)

Thanks a ton! A Skele-ton, even ~

Submitted(+3)

Congratulations, this game is so cool and fun, good art, good music, good everything, good job and good luck in the jam!

Developer (2 edits) (+2)

On the behalf of the whole team, I'm extending our warmest thanks to you. It means a lot to hear such positivity from all of you towards our game! ^_^

Submitted(+3)

One of my favorite games!! Amazing art, great music and sound, and really cool enemies. Great job!! :]]

Developer(+3)

Thank you that really means a lot and I'm glad you enjoyed! I'm sure the rest of the team will appreciate it too as they put a huge amount of effort into the project!

Submitted(+3)

This is a great idea for the theme. You still need to choose which polarity you are invincible to. I would have like the hitbox to be slightly more forgiving because sometimes my bullets just graze by the enemies this would improve the feel for the player too. Great game nonetheless!

Developer(+2)

Thanks for playing! I'll definitely have to take a look at that once the jam is over as I think some of the hitboxes could use a few tweaks, hope it didn't impact your experience too badly!

Submitted(+3)

A really good execution, my favorite thing is definitely the graphics, look just amazing I love how the enemies look. I think the sfx could use some pitch shifts, if they are there I'm sorry then they could be slightly increased.

Developer(+3)

Hey thanks for playing! In this case I think the pitch shift issue lies 100% with me as the programmer, our Music/SFX member made some really great sound effects and I've pitch shifted a few of them (the shield block FX are probably the most noticeable) but I definitely needed to up the range on the player shooting sounds in particular, hope you still enjoyed regardless!

Submitted(+2)

I did!! it was great really, just usually try to give some feedback and this one just stuck with me the most. But really a job well done on the game!!

Developer (2 edits) (+2)

It’s a fair enough nitpick. I did suggest bringing the default SFX level down slightly (in menu) and though this sounds simple - in this case it would’ve done wonders for the overall mix. Just happened to be one of those things that slipped through the cracks in the rush to meet the deadline unfortunately (I certainly don’t blame Calum for it, since  the root problem was more balancing and quite an easy fix).

Thanks for playing and glad you enjoyed the game!

Submitted(+3)

Super impressed by this game. Great art, audio, theme well incorporated, all-around a great experience.
Too bad I suck at these and my mind can't handle everything going on :')
Still definitelly among my top 5 in the jam.

P.S. This is not on you but you might want to know, on Firefox as soon as I press left mouse button the character starts flying down as if pulled by gravity

Developer(+3)

Interesting little glitch. Thank you for enjoying our game! ^_^

Developer (2 edits) (+2)

Really appreciate your kind words about the game and art overall. Sorry for the difficulty 🫡

This is hilarious considering how much trouble I had with your team’s game too (which I did manage to finish with great struggle).

Thanks so much for your comment. I genuinely found “Mockia” to be an unforgettable experience and recommend more people play/rate it.

Submitted(+2)

I did just go back to beat it and have to say it really is not the difficulty itself, it was just me :D I got the hang of it in the end, and now I want more

Thanks again, and thank you for the game!

Developer(+1)

Oh that’s awesome to hear! Nice work and thanks so much 🫡🫡

Developer

Also keep in mind that the enemy waves in this game are somewhat randomized. That's how I learned to cheese the game and I've now beaten it three times, even if I'm not the level of beast that Calum is when he plays this game. He is able to swap his Polarity within seconds, I primarily scum the game with the Fusion Mode myself 😅Sometimes you get lucky with the enemy placement, and the shield they receive or better yet no shield at all

Developer(+3)

Thanks so much for your feedback and we're really glad you enjoyed it so much, especially if these sort of games aren't usually your thing as you said! Also thanks for letting us know about the movement bug, someone else had the same issue while running in Firefox so that gives me a good idea of where to start looking into fixing it!

Submitted(+2)

As I wrote to your friend, went back to beat it and enjoyed it thoroughly.

It's always Firefox creating problems, at some point the best fix is to ask people nicely to use any other browser :D

Submitted(+2)

The game is cool actually , but the sounds can be improved , Also the game is enjoyable , Keep going ! 🔥💜

Developer(+1)

By sounds, what do you mean specifically?

Submitted(+2)

For some reason, the SFX gives me a slight headache. You could try adding random pitch variation. That’s the only issue 😅 But the whole game is great 🔥

Developer (1 edit) (+2)

Ah, fair enough! Apologies for causing ya a headache, glad you were able to enjoy our game despite that! ^_^

Developer(+3)

Thanks for the feedback. Our programmer did add pitch variations to the shielding which I think was an excellent call. We could’ve randomised damage sounds as-well to make them less grating for sure (though I did try and keep these pretty quiet)

Submitted(+3)

Great idea and execution, I absolutely love the graphics! Really great work!

Developer(+3)

Hey, thanks for playing! Glad to hear you enjoyed!

Submitted(+3)

This game is the definition of simple idea, great implementation. Switching colors to be able to shoot specific enemies is really clever and the mouse controls were also very simple to understand. This really is a nice game and the art was really clean. It is not easy to nail outlineless pixelart but this game handled that with ease and grace. The sound track is also very nice, it gave me nostalgia of an era I didn't even live lol.

This was a very enjoyable experience and a great game, I would love to hear your thoughts on my game, JANTA-9.

Developer (2 edits) (+2)

Thanks so much for the comment! Really appreciate it. Glad I was able to give you ‘false nostalgia’ with the soundtrack lmao

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

It is so cool to find a fellow SHMUP-enjoyer ~ Yeah, our team got really big-brain when they came up with the gameplay-hook based on a lot of our brainstorming and my base idea

Bravesun's aim for a vapourwave style music (however unintentional) was really smart because it fully sells the idea and feeling of an authentic arcade Gradius-like experience that I was aiming for when I suggested the music-style for this game, the imitation-Gradius effect is fantastic and it could genuinely pass for something you'd hear in an old arcade-game. And we all already know how good Jonah's art is so I don't even need to add to that discussion ~

Thank you for recognizing how much work we put into this! ^_^

Submitted (1 edit) (+3)

The tutorial and settings were not working for me.Changing the colour of your force shield to be invincible to your enemies bullets was really creative. The art was also nice.

Nice work.

Developer(+1)

That's unfortunate to hear, my sincerest apologies. They seem to be working out for everyone else, could you please describe what exactly is happening with them when you try to interact with them? Or is nothing happening at all?

Submitted(+1)

When I open the settings or tutorials, There is just the players spaceship there with the background. No enemies, no message, just the ship and the background. From there the game freezes and I have to close the app.

Developer

That's . . . bizarre. The tutorial does have the player ship in it, but just as a slide-image. The "background" is supposed to be there too. Because it is a slide it doesn't have any enemies in it, it isn't an actual tutorial level. Calling it a "tutorial" is a bit misleading because 'tis just more like "instructions" since all it has are still-images. What's happening with the settings makes no sense though . . .

Maybe this game is too powerful for your device? Although I doubt it. Does this problem exist with the exe or the browser-version?

Developer(+1)

Hey, programmer for the game here. Sorry to hear that parts of it weren't working, I hope you were still able to enjoy it regardless! Would you mind letting me know what browser you were playing on so I can hopefully get that fixed after the jam ends?

Submitted

I downloaded the game.

Submitted(+3)

Man, the new generation will never understand how good this style of game is. It really reminded me of one of the first games I ever played, Space Impact on those old Nokia phones. Simple but super addictive, just hits that nostalgia perfectly. I’d really appreciate it if you could rate my game too

NOKIA 3310 é bom para jogos? - Roda Liso

Developer(+2)

EYYYYY, A FELLOW FINN!!!! (unless you just so happen to have a Nokia-phone without being Finnish yourself 😅) God you unlocked a core-memory for me with that one. Space Impact was the shit with my very first-ever phone, I'm glad we were able to illicit this golden experience for you!

Submitted(+3)

You can see the passion put into this game, especially since you can’t even find a bug or a missing feature.
The attention to detail, like the music changing when you open the menu, is the cherry on top.
Super well done

Developer (1 edit) (+3)

Calum is a John Carmack -level coding-wizard.  The smooth, bugless experience came at the cost of us having to leave out a lot of stuff that we originally wanted to implement into the game, but in retrospect I'm glad we did instead of half-assing and shoehorning in complicated features that would have more than likely broken without the help of a second coder. Calum was able to do a lot and in a reasonable timeframe considering he had the Herculean-effort of doing all of this by himself, he's one of the most reliable programmers I've ever had the hounour of meeting ~

I'm glad you noticed that Bravesun has essentially created two versions of almost every track in the game! ^_^ It was nice attention-to-detail that helps to really spice up the game in a special way ~

Submitted(+3)

Suuuper polished, looove the aesthetic and the gameplay feels really smooth. Really great job man, good luck in the the jam. If you added more weapons, upgrades, maybe a star fox sort of progression system with levels i think this would really go crazy

Developer(+2)

That was originally meant to be in-place. If the rest of the team is interested in pursuing developing this game further, I'll definitely be championing their implementation back into the game!

Developer(+2)

As the insider, here's proof of concept of what it would have potentially looked like ~

Developer(+1)

We were also going to have two more playable ships to choose from to spice things up

Submitted(+3)

This is really polished, and the mechanics are simple but effective! All of the art is really incredible! Overall, this game is really amazing and I had a lot of fun playing it!

Submitted(+3)

This is like playing Gradius or R-Type again, but with the shield switching of Ikaruga. I enjoyed going through the 3 levels, but the ship kept going downward, which made aiming/dodging much harder. Not sure if that was intentional. Otherwise, good job with the game!

Developer

Hey, thanks for playing! The player ship should only move when you move your mouse so if it's always moving down that definitely wasn't intentional on our part, would you mind sharing the browser you were playing on? I don't think we've encountered this bug so far and I'd love to pinpoint what caused it!

Submitted

I'm using Firefox. My friend also hit the same issue as well, though not sure what browser he was using.

Developer

Thanks for letting me know, I'll be sure to check that out!

Submitted(+3)

Loved the whole retro vibe of this game! Such an unique twist to the classic Space Invaders! Great work!

Submitted(+3)

The art and sfx are fantastic here, feels super polished, I enjoyed it a lot! Skipped the tutorial but quickly figured it out.

Developer

The tutorial only consists of slides telling the player what they need to do. But it seems like you didn't need 'em! Did you by chance make it to face the Doctor? ~

Glad you enjoyed our game! ^_^ A lot of effort went into making it, to be sure ~

Submitted(+3)

Wow what a cool, its so polished and cohesive.
The sfx a music are really good too.
The animation when boss in the sand area explode are really good and lil dude who comes out is great.
Great Job and good luck in the Jam

Developer(+3)

Thanks for playing and I'm glad you enjoyed! I think you're the first person to mention seeing him and I'm sure the rest of the team will appreciate that, best of luck to you too!
