Thanks! Actually Toss the Turtle was a big influence for this game, I'm probably a similar age haha. I agree, more upgrades would be nice. I was working on a more ambitious game in a completely different genre but when I realized I couldn't make that game in time, I pivoted to this last minute thinking it would be easy to finish. But even though it's pretty simple, I wasn't able to add all the upgrades I had in mind.

Great art, I also like the soundtrack a lot. It's also cool you added a tutorial because I jumped straight into the game at first and was confused then I tried the tutorial.

Funny and creative take on the theme, now I really want a chili dog! Unfortunately I can't get past the roof sequence the game freezes at that point (I tried on two separate browsers). Also I noticed a few bugs with the menu, the sound options don't seem to work also the controls part isn't implemented, clicking that button doesn't do anything. I like the game though and wanted to get through to the end but can't.

Cool idea, I think it's executed pretty well and also pretty funny. Like others have stated I wish there was more feedback for the player when you use a specific attack.

Damn what an excellent job! One of my favorites so far. The game loop is fun, the art is consistent and the game is very well polished. The only minor criticism I have is the game starts a little slow for a game jam game, but it is a lot of fun when you start getting more upgrades.

Looks really professional, you did a great job. The game is really difficult for me though haha

Really cool concept and nice music! I'm really bad at these types of games though I still really enjoyed playing. Great execution!

Nice art, I liked playing and seeing what the different gems did. For feedback I would say the enemies moved a little too fast and they bugged out a bit like getting stuck on a wall. The jump maybe should have a little more height or coyote timer, I had a hard time jumping on certain platforms, but that could also just be a skill issue on my part haha. Nice job!

Really creative idea and great art. I really like the comic the game starts with it's a great idea to introduce the story. This game reminds me a lot of the family guy video game in the best way possible. Great job!

This was really good, I had a lot of fun playing this. A couple minor bugs and the expensive troops seem to be not worth it. Regardless this was a lot of fun, and I really like how the defeat screen UI is implemented it feels very professional. Great entry!

This has some of my favorite art I've seen so far! I couldn't really see what the upgrades were though because the text was blurry not sure if that was because of the filter, so I just had to use trial and error to figure out what they did.

Funny story, I like the sun drawing a lot.

Really addicting game and easy to learn. I had a fun time beating it!

Thanks I'm glad you liked it, I appreciate the kind words!

Very creative idea, I like the artstyle a lot

The visuals are really good, I liked the art style a lot. Fun and creative game, great job!

You succeeded on the most important part of making a game which is making something really fun to play and progress through. Great job! I did find the distortion on the shooting sounds a little grating after p[laying for a while, but that is a very minor thing I noticed.

Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed playing. The ammo is actually for shooting Jack himself to keep him moving

Fun game! I really liked the music, I thought it went with the setting very well. There's a lot of potential here to keep expanding on the powers and upgrades!

The web build isn't loading for me in firefox, do you recommend a specific browser to play it in?

This game has a lot of potential it was fun to go through the first level. Some sound effects would really enhance the game so the player can hear if there are spiders nearby or walking which would add another element of strategy to this. This was a really cool game though, I'm not sure what to do at the crystal part.

This was a lot of fun! I kept dying on level 5 but I was determined to finish because it was so much fun

Thanks! The ammo is to shoot Jack to propel him and keep his velocity so he doesn't stop.

Thanks I was going for a flash game feeling to this haha

This was really fun! It was very creative how you incorporated the hacking and map building! I can easily spend a few hours playing this.

Thanks I'm glad you had fun! I did base this game off of some of my favorites like Toss the Turtle and Learn to Fly so I'm glad you got that haha.

Wow this is a good idea, it was a lot of fun to play! Good job

I don't get it? I scored on the cpu first try and the game state is stuck. There is not another ball or anything.

The setting and art for this were great! It's a really cool game. I couldn't figure out how to toggle 'raccoon vision' though.

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the game! Yeah I should have put some kind of indication in the game that you can cycle through weapons, that's something I'll keep in mind for next time.

(1 edit)

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it! This is my first game that wasn't just following a tutorial, so I had to learn a lot to make this. I wanted to make it longer, but I ended up breaking the game when I tried to add a new feature a little before the deadline so I was spending a lot of time just debugging that issue and was too scared to add more things to it since the deadline was fast approaching. I definitely want to add multiple levels at some point.

This was one of my favorite entries. You did such a good job, finding secrets feels so satisfying! The game starts to lag a bit the longer I play in the browser, but I like that you can choose the level at the start so it's easy to resume where I left off if it gets too laggy.

This is a really solid game, the gameplay is really nice. I enjoyed it a lot actually. I wish the guns made sounds though.

Thanks so much for the kind words, it means a lot to me that you enjoyed the game! I appreciate the feedback about the bullet damage and changing them to sprites. I playtested the game so much and it became so easy for me that I had a hard time gauging the difficulty so I made the bullets damage more but in hindsight maybe a bit too much haha.

I like the art style, this game was really charming and creative. If I were to give some feedback it would be to make the player move a little faster since the maps are so big. Also the weapons should be given to you maybe at each level instead of the two at the last level, because I felt I didn't get enough time to test the shotgun before I got the blue gun.

I really like the idea for this and would love to play it all the way through. For some reason this is the only game that doesn't work for me. The game completely freezes every time I try to play it so I haven't been able to see much of it besides the beginning level.

You definitely should keep expanding this further! This was an amazing job, especially for such a short time period.

Thanks for the feedback. I agree the level is pretty sparse, I wanted to remake the map but I didn't have time so I ended up just expanding the level I was using to prototype everything. Also there is a secret room hidden on the map, but I agree not a lot of points of interest.

I like the idea, it's creative and has potential. I think it would be better if you could pick which card to throw at the enemies, however, since you damage based on color. It will give the player more options to think about and being more strategic on taking out enemies.
