Was very fun!

Won on my second try, where i didn’t immediately put the minions on the sacrifice thing lmao

I struggle seeing the elements of the original in this one, if I’m being honest… Progression path was very clear, the only thing i could have wished for was how many waves were left and what the next wave(s) are.

Audio was pleasant and appropriate. I think a bit more sound dedicated to the enemies and the hero would have been nice, so it gives more of an impression of a battle happening than it currently did. But good job on it despite this nitpick!

The UI appearing on top of the thing i’m hovering was quite annoying, and the text also taking a second to appear also did bother me a tad (I guess that’s medicine for my own game in round 1 LOL). Furthermore i did figure out the money thing, but that was very counterintuitive, I would have expected a normal kind of stat as money, and leveling the money thing would just give one more coin or something.

ALl in all i did enjoy this entry quite i bit though, an incremental game just never misses, and having to engine build while allocating resources to defense is just a true and tried good gameplay loop that doesn’t fail.

Thanks so much for the in depth feedback. You bring up a lot of good points. I've had a few people recommend a "hover to show tooltip" which I wish I would have thought of. More battle sounds for enemies is also good feedback. I was worried that with the constant clicking and other sounds it would be too much, but I do agree that making the battle feel more prominent is a good idea.

I am a bit confused about your comment on the money though. As far as I know it works as you describe? Every time it's leveled you get 1 money. Is your recommendation that every time it's clicked it increases?

Well, the level itself is the currency. Which is not obvious at all. I was constantly looking for an indicator of where my money was xD Figured it was just a hidden variable since it wasn’t that important or the game was unfinished or something.

Figured it out though but yeah, I think that is not intuitive.

My suggestion would be a money counter, and that the money “skill” can’t decrease. Also adding a symbol to indicate which cost money would have been useful, but I wouldn’t detract points for that in a jam

Developer

Ah. I see what you mean now, and I can see how that would be frustrating. Thanks again for the feedback!

I liked the concept, and the art is cute.

Developer

Thanks!

Such a cool experience! Took me a few rounds to figure out the strategies, but really appreciate the different starting Legends! The SFX were fun to listen to, the constant drip of the cave was also nice with the music!

The elephant dude was my favourite hehe

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yeah, I was wondering about an overall tutorial. Maybe I can add something to the starting selection to indicate what kind of strategy works best with each critter. I appreciate the feedback!

Was the game fun to play?

I enjoyed the challenge of reaching a legendary creature status with all three characters. The minions are a fun mechanic but once I figured out how to create more of them, the game became too easy, still fun though especially because I could set my own challenge and try to win with as few as possible. I think it could be cool if 2 minions on one space doubled the speed of the upgrade but in trying that I noticed they can stick together.

Did the game include the core elements from the original?

The unique creature designs felt very Tamagotchi to me while still being original and I think being able to choose which one to start the game with is a great idea and all 3 look great. I also like that they have different starting stats. Increasing their strength and speed stats with minions fits well with the general idea of building up a character’s stats like in the original.

Was there a clear path of progression?

Surviving the waves of enemies and being a hero was a very clear goal and I appreciated that upgrades take progressively longer over time and that there are different enemy types and numbers of them in the waves. The upgrades to the player with the minions is a really neat way of increasing the player’s ability and is definitely a highlight of the game.

How good was the audio and sound FX?

The music is pleasant to listen to and the attack sounds are nice and crunchy and provide good feedback. The dripping sound effect while not bad or anything, it did feel a bit too frequent to me and I think it would work better as a notification sound for when an upgrade is complete.

How well implemented was the UI?

The opening character selection is brilliant and sets a great tone. The writing is clear and it makes the game very easy to pick up and play. While the hover over text works well on the menu, I’d recommend making the descriptions static, perhaps in a fixed corner so they don't block the view of the minion area.

I am so thankful for your thoughtful feedback. Thank you for taking the time to write all of that out. I'm also glad that a lot of your critiques are some of the same that I have with the game. Thanks for playing, and I'll take notes on what you mentioned here.

Bro, you have the honor of being the first guy to ever draw fan art of one of my games. This is so dope. Thanks for taking the time to draw that! I'll be sure to return the favor sometime

Submitted(+2)

no problem it was fun and you made such cool characters I really wanted to draw one.

I am actually on a roll and doing a group shot I will pm and give to you once I am finished 😀.

This was so good man!

It was not what I expected when I saw your initial planning, but it was a pleasant suprise!

I had a blast playing it and it felt really addiciting.

I really like the art-style you went for and the sounds are great.

Such a good and creative submission and def a 5/5.

Looking forward seeing you in the finals, which I could have been there with ya!

Guin for the win! :D

In an alternate reality, I'm there with you. Thanks for playing bro, sorry that life got in the way for you this year.

Appriciate it brother 👊

Ohh this one is really addicting, nice work!

I liked the addition of minions upgrading your legend, it was more interesting to manage them than if you just clicked things yourself.

The gameplay is enough to get someone hooked, but a leaderboard could introduce some competition between players.

Looking forward to playing again once you add endless mode!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Yeah, I had a hard time getting everything to worn together so I didn't focus on replayability as much as I wanted to. Hopefully a future update though!

One of the most satisfying mechanics! Really cool concept, I liked the ritual vibes 👌

Also, I agree with thecrudeforge, the endless mode would add a lot of replayability to the game 👍

Great work, and good luck in finals 😉

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Yes, endless mode was an oversight that I'm regretting. Once I'm allowed to, I'll change those two lines of code to make it happen!

Submitted(+1)

:) would have been really fun if there were a endless mode.

Game did as intended and got relative easy to beat when hitting 5 minions.

Liked the simple sounds and ambience, and goofy hand drawings.

Developer

Yes, endless mode was an oversight that is really simple to add. As soon as I'm allowed, I'll change those two lines of code to make it happen. Thanks for playing!

I really like the upgrade mechanics of having the little guys helping out with the increasing the pet stats. Fun game, well done!
