So happy I found this! I loved seeing the progress throughout the discord! Great work, so glad I finally got to play it

Racing felt nice and fast, plus just having a pompadour here just raises the slickness of the game. Loved whenever I had the chance to fully fill out my slick meter, the boosts that you get from drifting feel rewarding enough to encourage you to drift extremely often. I do wish the drifting meter was explained a bit better, as I went through as much of the track as I could on my first playthrough without realising that drifting long enough gets you a boost. Maybe just a simple sentence explaining that drifts give you boosts would be enough. Aside from that I really got into the gameplay once I started drifting just about everywhere. Awesome work here! Me and my team also have a bit of a car game on the jam here (though it focuses more on destroying cars than racing). Feel free to check it out whenever you have the chance!

sure I’ll try it when I get a chance!

Holy slickness!

I can't believe you actually got Daniel Day-Lewis to do a cameo, awesome!

Too bad I suck at racing games, I didn't finish the track in time :(

But drifting felt hella slick and I like the rivalry between the two characters

Great job!

Well looks like I'm not slick enough... From a Mario Kart player you did a great job.

Took me a second to figure out the drifting mechanic but once it clicked it felt very smooth. Great presentation overall!

this game is very fun and slick, i would've liked a minimap/progress bar just to see how far i am in the track. drifting all over the place feels sooo good. very nice game.

I really enjoy this game! This was my best time

Developer

Nice! You currently have the best time so far.

I really love the aesthetic. I ended up learning how to drift hop and when I got fully charged up I drift off off the map it was pretty funny that I could do that I don’t think you intended it I had to restart but then I was able to beat it really fun little game

slick game. coulda used more obstacles or things to dodge to keep things interesting throughout the run

Developer

Agreed, though a number of people already found the game too difficult already haha

This game is really slick. I like it.

This game kicked my ass until I finally remembered to just be slick. Hold that drift button like an Eastern European eighth grader with a pirated copy of Mario Kart DS. You'll thank me later

Submitted(+1)

I'm sorry but you can't be as slick as me

Developer

now this guy ^ is SLICK!

This game was great! A nice take on the classic mario kart style drifting with a very smooth (one could even say slick) character controller. It made sense to me, playing this game was not too difficult by my standard, though a tutorial would've helped a lot in the start. Good job!

fun. but really hard, not that i can talk haha. i love the feeling of the boost

Developer

Seems you're not the only one who feels that way haha.

ive tried a few times im going to get it ill try again. i just had the finish line in sight and lost twice in a row lmao, but i am hooked

I was not slick :(

Developer

ahhh I'm seeing alot more people complain about difficulty than I expected I honestly thought the game was too easy :').

The sense of momentum is *really* dialed in, phenomenal work. I wouldn't say no to more responsive turning while drifting and less side barrier friction, but that's more personal preference. The sparks fx and sketch-style UI is wonderful. Great stuff!

i really like the art style of this game, idk how to describe it i just like the 2d guy in a 3d world especially the little things like him getting squished on angles

Oh Slick!

If you're like me and had a hard time on keyboard, try again with controller! Wayyyy more fun. I feel like I could barely get off a drift with the keyboard, but the controller was muuuuch easier. Beat the track with <0.5s to spare phewwf

I thought the oil would make you slide or sthg, but instead slows you down. Echoing suggestion for some sort of progress that would be nice.

Developer

The oil does make you slide but I thought it should slow you down too, the sliding didn't interrupt movement enough to slow my times down. If I had more time I would've made hitting the oil look more slick/slippery. May add progress bar, I'll see what I can do for that.

Yup finally played it. The webbuild had the dialog and then black screen. That’s one crazy track. Wish there was more and that impacting the railing was a bit more forgiving. Lots of potential.

Developer (2 edits)

Developer input here I thought the game was way too easy and the railings did barely anything, should've got someone else to test this before submitting hahaha. It only slows you down slightly more than being airborne so you might need controller to avoid the sides because you can actually bump them a good bit without slowing down if it's only for a moment.

The order of difficulty is easy, medium, hard, developer
