Really liked it, glad I got to this before the end of the voting period.

Lot of potential to expand. The game looks great, and the mech controls well.

Would love to see more from this, great job!

Great audio and very authentic NES-era palette, looks wonderful! the spritework is so high effort, and the gameplay is really fun honestly. I like that it feels like NES armored core fr, the sort of slow clunky buildup and intentionality in the action follow-throughs really make this feel like something that needs a full release. I hope this pilot finishes their VR training and sees some real missions soon, this is so cool!

If you expand on this, consider adding unlockable weapons, moving enemies, some other mech parts etc, maybe like a flight boost-dash and different legs etc. a hover module like the quad legs in armored core would rock too. Awesome work!

I was very impressive with this game. Love the visual and the gameplay for it. Felt like a well polish game and has potential if worked on more. My only critique is while i know there was a dash mode, i felt the mech walk too slow, i know he should be on the slow side but i feel like he could go just a bit faster with walk like 1% or 2. that all i can say. Awesome job on all this.

THIS ONE IS A GOAT

There is some really awesome mech artwork here. The art in general was also good. The game play was hit and miss for me -I saw a lot of potential here, though. The biggest issue I had was with the movement. It was slow and clunky, and I had to move around quite a bit and dodge things which made it harder than I thought necessary. I noticed there was a bug where my gun would fire automatically until I swung my sword.

Other than that - great accomplishment in such a short period of time!

This is really cool, the mech and all his animations look great. I think for a VR training session you had quite a lot going on, this would be a fine special stage for a full mech game, I'm looking forward to seeing what's next.

Nice game. Walking feels very clunky, but dashing feels nice. Maybe walking should be somewhere in between.

Love the aesthetic and mech movement! The slowness of the normal mech walking forces me to get better at using the booster, and I love how the occasional big clusters of targets encourages the melee sweeping to really bring out the coolness of that attack feature. Really enjoying all the energy that went into the game feel and design., seeing the recharge times in the bottom left helped a ton. What a treat to play!

Lots of mechanics, good visuals and nice audio! Overall pretty solid entry. Thank you.

At first, the walking speed is really slow, but then you remember "Tab" - makes the game so much better.

The best thing about it is the sword. The slash animation is really amazing.

One point of criticism: a bit hard to tell where the enemies are. Maybe introduce a minimap or something.

Best of luck for your bigger mecha project!!

Overall solid entry! The mechanics were working excellently! They quickly reminded me of the neo geo golden days!

The sound design was excellent and appropriate, and the theme was executed to the point.

Great job on part of the team!

Note: The only thing I think was a bit off was the title screen sound of the buttons they were a bit loud and jarring but aside from that everything was really cool!

Impressive and polished entry !

Really had a blast playing this, i like how responsive everything feels, with the melee and gun each being instant with dedicated keys no weapon swaping that’s great to chain targets. The Dash/Hover mechanics are also pretty well made.

Visually the spritework is incredible, very detailed for an 8bit style rendition :D

Solid entry now all it needs is a campaign with levels and enemies and you’re set !

Good job guys :)

This is the best game jam game I've played ever. The sound design, the art, the music, the game play and it fits the theme perfectly. 5/5 stars.

I love games with unique player controllers and this one definitely has a unique feel. There were a few quirks that made it feel unresponsive though.

Idk this was a glitch or just part of the auto aim design, but a lot of times I would aim at a target and the bullets would just miss. They would fly over or under where I was aiming.

Another issue that might or might not be a glitch is that sometimes you can’t move laterally in the air. I thought this was part of the design where if you just jump straight up, you don’t have momentum, but after testing it out I found it to just be inconsistent. Sometimes you can move in the air and sometimes you cant.

I really like the concept and hope you keep working on it. I’d like to play a fleshed out version of this in the future

Love this mecha retro style, like a nes game overboosted. very good music and sound effect.
The control of the mecha is bit hard, but that give an heavy feeling, and stick to the retro look.
The training level with laser to force the player to dodge and move is really good idea. This can be easily was a tutorial for a larger game !

My small score :

Really fun game and awesome sprite work. The controls were a bit unintuitive but I figured it out after a while. Given that the player is supposed to be jumping and avoiding obstacles, the mech felt a little too weighty.

But overall, it's really good!

Overall sprite design, animations and audio are pretty good.

The controls are a bit stiff and take some time to get the hang of it.  (Although it is kinda the point as in learning to pilot a mecha)

Other than that a few small issues, its a good work!

Cool game! I like the sprites, music, and mechanics. I did find myself wishing the mech was slightly more agile, but it makes sense if it's supposed to be a heavy tank-y type of dude. Great work
