How does your game fit the theme?
It's a puzzle game inspired by the self-eating ouroboros snake which is an ancient symbol for infinity. You have to form a loop by eating your tail to complete a level.

Love the unique twist on Snake! The puzzles got pretty tricky, which made it so fun. Excellent job with the visuals and music too!

Great game! Loved the puzzles, and impressed you made so many. There was a huge difficulty spike on NOWALLATONCE (13) and then it got easier for a while, but otherwise felt that the puzzles were all well crafted and fair (got to 19 and had to stop to rate you before the deadline). Also really liked the tutorial, and how each one ended with “Eat Tail”.

Awesome work!

Puzzle games are my favorite. After playing your game, it became one of my favorites too. I really liked it. Great job! Don’t forget to check out my game as well!

Hi, I really liked the game! I'll definitely come back to finish it latter

Fun puzzle game with a surprising range of mechanics and levels! The cosmic snake visuals are awesome. As others have mentioned the ability to undo would help a lot, there were many times where I pushed a crate wrong and had to restart the level. Best snek. Excellent work!

smartest decision i thinkk yall made was not having a strict "tutorial."  its so much easier to get into a game when you get to play through the mechanics instead of just having a huge wall of text explaining what everything does.  the puzzles got pretty interesting and challenging real quick!  id maybe suggest adding a counter that shows the length of your snake so you know how many segments you are at instead of having to count.  there were a couple puzzles where i needed to eat some black holes/stars to get my snake to be at the right length, and it would have been handy to have a counter to know exactly how many i need to +1 or -1.  awesome game, super polished and enjoyable for the time frame given!  theres some really thoughtful puzzle design in there.

Developer

Thank you so much!!! In the upcoming post jam version there will be a length & move counter, many QOL updates and a ton of new levels if you're interested :)

Nice graphics, the game is very fun to play! The first few levels are maybe a little too straightforward, would have been nice to have 1-2 levels per new mechanics introduced. But the levels after are really fun and challenging! Good job!

The game is quite interesting. The graphics are also very beautiful.

It's actually impressive you managed to make so many levels

I enjoyed it and have some thoughts. it felt like the difficulty took a while to ramp up. Most of the first 10 or so levels felt the same solutionwise. walk path -> eat tale when getting to the box area. Not a lot of wiggle room so it felt like instead of figuring out a puzzle i would just take the only path possible. I think all the mechanics introduced in the first few levels could be introduced when they will be used. Once things got going though the puzzle got challenging and fun and i loved the oroboros theme to match the jam theme!
ps. an undo functionality would have been great qol!

Cool game. I saw the same game idea in this jam, but with different art, forgot the name though. Great work anyway

Submitted(+3)

This was amazing, the fact that you got so many levels in the game is crazy. Love the slurp sound as well.  Great job!
Sometimes when I would press next level it would load the same again.

Developer

Thank you! :)

We unforunatley didn’t catch the next-level bug until right after the jam dead-line as it only happens when reloading the game or leaving a level and then using the level select.

It’s fixed by now and there will be a post-jam build with new levels as well as some other additions and improvements. I hope you check it out ;)

Super super nice game! I love Puzzles

I could not stop playing this puzzler!  Though I had to so I can rate more games.  I will be watching this.  Hi quality and great artwork.  This team is awesome.  I could see this in the winners circle. Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the kind words, it means a lot to me! :)

If you feel like coming back and playing some more: we’ll upload a new build after the rating periods with more levels and a lot of QoL upgrades among other things ;)

Submitted(+1)

I will be doing that!

great game, i love how you have to replay the level to open the next one sence the next level doesnt work. (dunno if that a feature or a bug XD)

Developer

Haha, it’s a bug of course. xD The level select was pretty last second, so I forgot to correctly set the current level variable when entering a level through it after reloading the game or exiting another level. This causes the next level button to point to the same level once every time you use the level select.

It’s fixed in the post-jam build but as of right now the best way to avoid it is to replay the level once and then the next-level button will work again as long as you don’t return to the level select.

Very great game I liked it a lot. The art is amazing. I would change some small details. Instead of just the level ending you could make an animation or someway where the snake actually eats it's own tail to form the loop. And also instead of having to spam press the control buttons you should be able to hold it. But besides that is this game amazing I enjoyed it a lot!

Developer(+1)

Holding the button to move is a great idea - I just added it to our post-jam todo list. Also agree about the missing level end animation. We couldn’t quite do it in time but have now implemented the snake tail-eat animation for the post-jam version.

Thanks for playing! :)

I enjoyed the puzzles! It's amazing how many levels your team got done in such a short timeframe - respect!

Really cute puzzle game !

I love how you based an entire game on the classic snake game over condition, pretty original.

I do wish there was a rewind button to undo your moves, as I sometimes moved a bit too much and screwed the whole puzzle by accident, even when I was going for the right solution.

I also think the teleporter could be more different from one another, it's quite difficult to tell them appart with only the icon changing. Maybe try switching up the colors ? It's just a suggestion tho.

Keep up the good work !

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the great feedback! :)

Totally agree about the redo - button! I couldn’t get it working in time but I implemented it by now and will add it to the post-jam build.

About the portals: we figured that going by colours wasn’t the best approach anyways due to colour-blindness and already had the below sprites ready to go but unfortunately used the wrong ones for the build by accident.

How do you like this solution?

Submitted(+1)

They are way easier to tell appart I think !

And glad to see that the undo function is already a thing, cutting things from the game because of the jam deadline is definitely familiar to me, so I perfectly get it.

Really fun game with a few tricky puzzles and great background music. Love how it feels somewhat intuitive just from the way you built on the classic snake game, and the approach to the theme where you have to create a loop to beat the level is very unique.

A minor critique is that it was somewhat overwhelming having every mechanic introduced at once right at the start, it'd be much easier to absorb if mechanics were explained right before they appeared in the next puzzle. Would also like the menu buttons to be navigable by arrow keys since the snake is moved this way.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you!

For the jam we only manged to get the tutorial and more difficult levels done in time but we’re already working on some intermediate levels between every tutorial for the post-jam version. Good point on the UI-controls as well. It’s surprisingly easy to implement keyboard controls for Godot UI elements so I’ll make sure to plan for them in future jams

Really liked this. I also liked how you ramped up the complexity and challenge. The short starting levels gently guide you through new mechanics. Loads of potential in this.
