cat on plane yayyy yayy yayyyyy
Love the Pokemon ranger inspiration, especially with multiple loops multiplying the damage. I agree with the others about needing more responsive UI and giving player feedback. But other than that, I think the implementation of the mechanic ended up creating a game loop with a confusing identity;
I can make loops of arbitrary size, so I could just circle around the edges of the screen and even dodge some projectiles while damaging all enemies.
Even if I couldn’t do that, and say the intention is to make tight loops by rapidly circling the enemy, then there is no way to dodge the projectiles.
I think some balance can be struck here, but I’m not too sure how. Still had fun playing, and enjoyed seeing another loop drawing game :P
I will fix being able to escape the screen, i always testing in full screen so i didn't realize until after the deadline.
As for the balance, I want to go with the frenzy of creating small loops but make attacks much more forgiving and avoidable. Enemies would "announce" their attacks beforehand so you could risk one last loop or snip the line.
Thank you for the very insightful comment. Also loved Ur game once again, see you next jam!?
I enjoyed this little Pokemon Ranger type concept. I think the art that you have is really good, I like games set in the sky with a lot of clouds and I enjoyed the work that you did on that front, it reminds me of that section from Chrono Trigger where they're in the sky. I think the game may either be too easy or I can't tell when I'm taking damage, so depending on which it is I would probably recommend to either have the game controllable by keys or an on-screen knob or something instead, or have a clear indicator of what my HP is and when I'm taking damage (some visual and auditory feedback would be nice). Good work on the game!
Yes Chrono trigger was one of my inspirations actually. On top of Pokémon ranger having "levels" in the sky.
Having key support is not something i thought about at all but i will look into it.
I will take all of this to heart, thank you!
this is fun, my team was thinking about doing a pokemon ranger circling type thing but we ultimately went with another idea instead
You're the first to recognize the Pokémon ranger inspiration, thank you
Love the art style and the concept, not gonna lie, it's quite fun drawing circles and looping!
I hope that the enemies can fly and move instead of just teleporting, especially to the edge where it's hard to loop around.
I hope the HP indicator and the damage that the enemy did to my plane can be clearer (Like an actual damaging sound) since I actually went to touch the enemy's plane on purpose, thinking the number popping up was a coin or something, until I realized it's damage done to my plane.
Thank you yes I've taken this to heart an adjusted speeds of player and enemies. See i kind of just ran out of time and it just ended up like that.
This game has nostalgic art. It reminds me of an old skying game. I think it could benefit from interpolation. As in, have the enemies fly to destination instead of snap to it. Have the player fly to the mouse instead of snap to it. Otherwise is a good concept for the jam!
Rough, not gonna sugar coat it. I think there is potential on webgames that go simple. But having planes as visual that move like coked up fireflyes whhile I have 0 awarenes of my own stats, hp, or what the rocks on balloons I grab represent is a big no no for me. Keep your player in the loop!
Thank you for the rough honest thoughts. I've fixed the speed issue already, i simply ran out of time and didn't get to adjusting the speed.
I didn't even think of labeling stuff like HP because of the same reason, now i know for next jam.
It's about the learning <3
Fun game! Not sure if the blue/red filters are bugs or are indicators though.
liked the concept real good
I like the art and yeeting my mouse uncontrollably was kinda fun too
Holding the mouse down and loopling like crazy is the way to go. This gave me good Porco Rosso vibes and I enjoyed the take on the theme. Well done!
I was making very slow progress to start, carefully drawing one circle around each enemy. Then I realised you can just manically whizz round them loads of times in one go and then we were flying!
Great to have the gesture of looping inform the gameplay. Nice job!
I really enjoyed the calming art style, especially in contrast to the chaotic ways of winding up enemy planes! :D
Good game :) It's neat how we had similar ideas
Cool art and great idea! Slower movement of both player plane and enemies would be cool though…
nice game really like it
Thank youuuuu
the idea of rounding up with the mouse is good, though teh game feels clunky, the airplanes teleporting especially feels weird.
nice entry
Yeahhh i just didnt get around to it unfortunately
I'll wrap up enemy planes as a cat on an airplane every day of my life. 10 stars, out of 9.
