Wow, I loved the concept for this game! I'd love to see it fleshed out more with more content. Also, the options menu was great 😂
What I find incredibly cool about this concept is is expandability. One could easily imagine a whole series of crime novels or tactical plays taking place in a framework like this, with a map and characters and suspicion levels and all, maybe even with a multiplayer mode, and some neat little artwork for map and characters. Very creative stuff this. (Kudos for the hairy legs)
Thanks for playing! I definitely was aiming for that idea, so I’m happy it got across
The art looks great! The animations were so clean, but I felt that the game could last longer... I was just started on having fun when the game stopped
Oooo I wish this was longer! I would love to see the art for the manor fully fleshed out. I loved the character sprites too! Was not expecting the options menu LOL
I really like the vibe of this game! I'm a big fan of puzzle/logic games so this was up my alley. I really enjoy the character portraits and playing as the villain. I would love to see you continue to flesh out this game out.
thanks for checking it out! Heard a lot about your game, looking forward to giving it a play
Really nice character art. The options menu on the main menu was a very nice touch haha.
Really cool visualisation of the gameplay using the blueprint of the house. The writing really set the scene of each room and descriptions of the characters.
I really liked this one! I liked the mood and tone of it, the art and especially enjoyed being the evil one. It's a shame the other characters had to be cut from the game cause they seemed interesting as well.
I really liked the visuals and the written storytelling in this. I ran into a bug where someone was in a room after they definitely shouldn't have been able to, and I was worried it messed up the progression, but I was able to beat it anyways! It was a fun experience overall.
Nice idea of being the villain of the game and I thought the character art was great. The atmosphere is nice and with the minimalistic representation of the map with tokens, it definitely nailed the board game vibe. I did feel like moving from room to room by first clicking on the map and then on continue in the corner could have been a lot more straightforward. Overall, nice game and good job!
Looking back, I probably could have just instanced a small button under the room you circle, like a “are you sure”. Or maybe just make the player circle a room with their mouse. Thanks for checking it out!
The premise of the game is very interesting, as a puzzle solving game where you figure out ways to kill your patrons without them getting suspicious. It definitely needs more time in development than the constraints of a game jam however.
I love the graphics and audio, and especially the main menu when you check options! Fun idea, nicely executed.
It felt quite clear on how you would dispatch each guest for the most part, and I did not really see the guests guessing your identity come in to play.
I love the atmosphere of this game and the character portraits are very impressive. The unseen room was a creepy surprise! Seeing the characters' initials in there was quite unsettling - it's great what you can achieve with minimal UI. The writing was compelling, I'd love to see more characters and have the opportunity to solve more problems. Well done!
Love the mood and graphics!
Amazing writing and i'm usually not at all drawn to narrative games like these. The character portraits are amazing as well. Game could use some more polish with a nicer looking game map and maybe some sound effect and UI/Interaction feedback. But you do what you can within a week eh?
More characters or levels, and more reason to visit all the rooms as well as the polishes mentionend above and i think this could reasonably be released for a dollar or two. Good job
Just in case anyone else gets confused on how to play (I’m bad at building in-game tutorials):
Cool game, It took me a while to understand how to play, but after that I really liked the dialogue. Same for the visuals, very good.
Thanks for playing! Looking back on comments so far, definitely seems like tutorials / teaching the player is something I need to work on a tad (I’ve had that feedback in past jams too lol). Glad you enjoyed!
The art was really good. going to the options menu and seeing the dude with no pants is hilarious. The writing was also really good!
Very nice job, I absolutely love the character art, I'd love to see a full game with that art style fully realized. Short but one of the more fun games I played this jam.
The writing was brutal (in a good way!). I felt uncomfortable reading how I was killing. I agree with other comments that the UI wasn’t as intuitive for what to do. I also kept getting the same dialog options after using them. Maybe disabling them would help indicate the room is done? I loved the pixel art portraits and wish the same level could have been applied to the rooms and the main view.
Thanks for playing! I struggled for awhile on the kills, trying to make it “good writing” while not being too edgy. I agree that the UI could have used some work, definitely was a weird one to develop. My thought process for the room / map view was to make it feel like a board game, would have loved to push that across a bit more. Glad you enjoyed!
If the game is pixelated / font hard to read at first, use the fullscreen button in the bottom right. Should help
