I loved it ! The mechanics are great and balanced. Good idea to make a infinite respawn, it was a bit easier. The music is great also :)
dope top down action, altough I would fix few things with knockback and respawn - when I broomed into a place with turtles (I think those were turtles) and they smacked me with bubbles so many times before I could do anything that I thought I'm gonna get stuck there
I read that for the second time and it felt like its mostly negative - not the intention, I liked the game :D
Thanks for the feedback! And you’re totally right, I should have made the hero invincible for a bit after respawning, something like that.
Really strong execution here! I had fun learning how to use the different items throughout the world to solve the puzzles you've built. Thanks for making and sharing your game!
Great job, the game is fun, and I loved the "The Legend of Zelda" vibe. I think the graphics could be better, but that definitely doesn't take away from the game's shine.
This is really good fun and the puzzles are really well put together. Managed to find one side-quest, would've been nice if I could continue after returning the princess, but that's replay value right there.
I'm not entirely sold on the graphics though. The brown isn't doing it any favors, but other than that, it's a real solid entry.
Oh my goodness, I loved this! The puzzles were fun and engaging, while the different items kept things fresh and interesting the whole way through. The graphics are adorable, too! 5's across the board, gonna play again a little bit later to see if I can beat my time-- because I was definitely taking my time with it, haha! (Gotta find those side quests, too, didn't even know they were in there!)
Final time: 20m 3.400s
Dead witches: 6
Dead princesses: 2
Dead monsters: 21
Items: 9/9
Side Quests: 0/3
Game was pretty impressive with the amount you were able to get done for the jam, beat it in 13 minutes although I suspect that the princess wasn't supposed to just warp to throne room after the broken bridge. Still, was pretty cool though
It was good but a bit too difficult
Freakin' king has an monster infestation right outside his throne room and he's worried about the princess?! Guy needs to get his priorities straight... XD. This was certainly a fun game and was well-worth playing. I like the toss-up between, puzzle elements, platform elements and the sprinkle of combat that is scattered around the different maps. Switch equipment around all the time was a little annoying and I tended to hit the wrong button (I probably would have used [SELECT] or [START] to do that).
Nice job! Quite satisfied with the end results.
Notes:
Princess was already there when you returned? Oh no! She’s supposed to walk in with you, then walk up to her throne. I must have a bug somewhere.
Thanks for playing!
I had left her at where you rescued her, went back to the throne and she was at the throne. I tried to bring her back, ran into trouble, went back anyway out of curiosity and ended up seeing here there.
Guess she found her own way back.
omg good catch! I can’t believe I missed this. She’ll be on the throne if you enter the throne room while she’s afield (won’t happen if she died and warped back, just if you left her somewhere).
Sorry bout that! Will fix post jam.
Wow, this is my favourite one so far. I think this game out of all the ones I've tried has the most potential to become a full game. The idea of changing between different items and using them together to solve puzzles is awesome and I think it would benefit greatly from a longer game that can distribute the items more sparsly and take its time to introduce each mechanic and use them to its full potential. 10/10 would buy
I think the idea behind the game is great, it uses the theme well and it’s challenging to protect and guide the princess. It’s true that switching between mechanics takes some time, but it’s well implemented within the NES theme. I really liked the concept, although there are some parts where the collisions don’t work properly and the player gets stuck. Overall, the game was quite entertaining — it took me 21 minutes to deliver the princess, which was quite a lot to be honest.
A lot of fun really enjoyed the mechanics and pepper attack and the camera feature. solid fun
Had a blast playing, the game is mechanically rich and I really liked being able to use the abilities in creative ways,
I appreciated the cameo from the world's hardest game, I'm sure you intended to use an item to get past those spikes but walking past was really fun too.
Stopwatch for the win!
Finished it, the king is happy again!!
pretty cool and well polished!! I enjoyed the various puzzle and items (tried to drown some NPCs but nope hehe)
She died because she had an allergy to chili peps (and another time because she had an allergy to knives too)
great job!!
also, long live the chili peppers!!
lololol “allergy to knives”! I’m using that line in the future :D
i Cant even describe how many times this Princess has experinced death in my run but in all seriousness this game is absolutely Amazing if i saw this on a shelf in 1985 i would Definitely pick it up :D
The mechanics are well-crafted, and the gameplay is engaging and immersive.
I can tell a lot of thought went into this game and I could 100% see this being on my NES back in the day. All the items and power ups are neat, the camera to teleport was especially cool to me :) Awesome entry, one of the best ones :)
*** SPOILERS ***
Thanks for playing, and big thanks for recording it! That’s the first time I’ve watched somebody play it, and that’s super helpful.
I had never thought of your approach to the two switches, but it really ought to have worked. I’ll look into that soon as the jam’s over.
The intended solution depends on the treasure from the room just before that, the one behind the Zelda traps. (that item is also meant to be necessary to get past the knives, but ha ha, I didn’t think it would be that easy to slip past the knives on pure nerve, well done there!)
If you’re still stumped (I’ll write this backward because it’s even spoilerier): .retaw eht ssorca erusaert taht gnirb ot dnaw eht esU
Again, thanks for the very helpful review!
Very fun game, very nice soundtrack, i enjoy.
only problem i had with it was that esc keeps on crashing the game for some reason, and the controls are a little tedious.
Sorry about the Esc thing! That’s actually intended, it’s a “hard-quit” key. I should have mentioned that on the landing page but forgot to.
Thanks for playing!
i have a real problem of hitting esc when a dialog box appears, so thats kinda screwing me over.
other than that fuuuuuuuuuuuuun game 5/5
I saved the princess in 0:13:14:313 (it was not my first playthrough). DEAD WITCHES : 36 DEAD PRINCESSES : 1 DEAD MONSTERS : 54 ITEMS : 9/9 SIDE QUESTS : 3/3
The game is great, I love everything about it. It looks great and the tunes are super nice, switching music after you rescued the princess was a very cool touch. It controls perfectly, the structure of the dungeon is great and the puzzles are fun to solve including getting back with the princess, the boss fight is a great fight as well. Also witches are the best character to play with. I had a lot of fun playing.
Thanks for playing! And hey that’s not too shabby a score. …but can you do it deathless? :)
Probably not but that seems like a cool challenge so I might try to figure out if I can when the jam is over.
