The NES Jam is all about creating games that capture the look and feel of the classic Nintendo Entertainment System!
All assets must be created during the jam.
Graphics
The resolution of your game must be 256x224. (256 x 240 is also acceptable!)
Controls
Your game must follow the control scheme of an NES Controller: D-pad, Select, Start, B,A
Optional Theme: Save The Princess!
Some of the most iconic NES Adventures started off with a princess in peril! In this year's NES Jam, your quest is to make a game where royalty needs saving.
Only the participants who submit a game will be able to rate others. Games will be rated based on the following categories:
How fun is your game? Is it unique?
"Whether they're simple and easy or frustratingly addictive, we play games to have fun!"
How does your game look?
"Go for a classic NES style without stressing over hardware limitations!"
How does the music sound? How are the sound effects?
"Rocking chiptunes are not required, buuut greatly appreciated!"
Does it feel like it could be on an NES?
"Capture the timeless charm of a classic NES title!"
