The execution of the concept is brilliant. The pacing is a bit slow, and there isn't much to do outside of managing the star. The shaders are also impressive, especially for a web build.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback!

I agree, the pacing could use another pass for sure. I think more aggressive tuning could also open up more active gameplay (enabling/disabling buildings, replacing buildings, etc), so I’m hoping I might be able to encourage more active gameplay at the same time as speeding up pacing. We’ll see what I come up with :)

I love retro stuff and the stylization here was super well done. Presentation in general was well done. I did have issues with pacing as others pointed out  but in such a short game jam it really becomes difficult to playtest and fix progression, something I struggled with aswell. Also the "failure is progress" being twisted to not OUR failure was smartly done, did not think of it that way.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback!

For sure, the progression tuning was difficult and I’ve learned a lot about what it takes to pace a resource management game like this (which is something I’ve never made before). I’m looking forward to sitting down with some spreadsheets after the jam to see if I can actually plot some curves and math it out and see if that makes everything feel better.

I’m glad you enjoyed the game’s presentation – I grew up with a lot of the old spacey arcade games so that aesthetic is a comfort fallback for me :)

i like the style, simple, pixelized, with that "TV" effect. But player actually cannot do a lot after starting construction of the exodus package. I died because of starting production of this thing -> delete all extractors -> going afk and forgetting about silicon production buildings. At the end there was just a bit more iron needed to finish the exodus package. And i stayed on the platform forever :) star seems doesn't going to explode without extractors

Developer

Thanks for your feedback!

When testing the game’s pacing, I ran 4+ extractors the whole time and it definitely shows that I didn’t pay much attention to the natural star decay rate, haha. Future tuning will definitely address this, and I’ve learned to pay closer attention to such things in future jams.

The graphics and presentation are really great! The music makes the game so immersive!

The pacing is a little too slow for me, but great game overall!

Developer

Thanks for your feedback!

I agree the pacing needs adjustment. I didn’t leave myself enough time at the end of the jam to really assess the progression values and it shows. Live and learn!

Incredibly cool game with beautiful design! But building the last building was a bit long (5 iron in ~3 seconds is pretty slow). Small detail: it would be nice to close the description of the structure

Developer

Thanks for playing my game!

You should be able to deselect a currently-selected structure by right-clicking but I agree this isn’t clear.

And more iron can be gained by building more extractors, but this also carries risks ;)

Absolutely adored playing this, it looks great and felt like the perfect difficulty level, it was tense but not oppressive. Well done!

Trippy effect... I enjoyed playing , the idea is great and has been well executed. Great work! I would have wished for a way to speed up the game because extracting and building took a rather long time, alternatively something to do in between (manually shooting debris?). Also, a more detailed health/integrity status for segments would have been helpful.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback!

A fast-forward or set time speed option is definitely in this game’s future. I may also increase the baseline progression speed in general. The session length is definitely long, especially if you don’t decide to build 4+ extractors like I did, haha.

its a good game with a great art-style  and a interesting concept but is very slow I  recommend to add a button to accelerate the time because at the start is very boring

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback! A fast-forward button is a great idea, I’ll definitely look into that for future improvements.

I dig the art style and the main shader (I believe it's a CRT effect), however it makes reading the small text in the Resource Log a bit hard. Nice game!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback!

The Resource log was a late addition and it shows, haha. There are a lot of improvements I could make to it to make it more useful and legible.

Nice idea, good fitting artstyle. Kinda slow though, can leave it running in the background and come back to it.

Using words "iron" and "Fe" in the bottom corner might not be self explanatory if you don't know chemistry yet. So try to stick to common words or have hover tooltip explain them. I think there is enough space to just write "Iron" instead "Fe".

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! Great point, there should absolutely be space in the lower-right for the resources’ full names. And speeding up the game is definitely something that can be done.

Super cool concept and very pretty, progression though is a bit slow paced, lots of idling waiting for things to build. Overall though just little tweaks, nice game.

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! Yes, I have so many knobs and levers I can use to adjust the pacing of the game. I really spitballed the values in the last few hours of the jam, so I plan on sitting down and actually mathing them out after the review window.

Really enjoyed this!

Very unique concept, UI looks good, the graphics are good. I think the only thing that you could change is increase the speed of progression, but other than that great game.

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! I agree, the progression speed can be increased for sure. Something to look forward to updating after the review window.

Some how, I always get drawn by space games! this one in particular adds resource management with the idea of destroying planets just to harvest their resources. I really like the atmosphere, the pixel filter(if it even is pixel filter) and the sounds!
Its a bit slow paced compared to my liking, but thats fine hehe, Good job on the game!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I grew up in a household full of retro space games, so it’s a genre/atmosphere I pull out of my pocket for jams all the time ^^

I agree the pacing is definitely on the slow side, but that should be easy to fix.
