Game Description
Build a deck to gain increasing control over a chaotic stock market and profit!

How does your game tie into the theme?
The stock market can be a chaotic thing to wrestle with - especially these days - but there are many things people do to tip the scales in their favor and conquer the chaos. This card game tries to capture those strategies and that feeling.

I thought that the gameplay and mechanics felt really thought out and I liked the music a lot. I did feel a bit overwhelmed by the amount of text sometimes but not being part of the target audience for such a game may be a factor. :P Nice job!

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I agree the UI was a bit "busy", and that's even after I did some work to cut the text/numbers down a bit! A lot of the layout evolved without a plan, so it could have been better organized & more concise. Thanks for playing and the feedback!

You and me both! Thanks for giving it a shot and the feedback!

The idea and implementation are great, but I guess stock exchange is not my cup of tea, i grew a bit bored after the first week, but still, good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing and feedback! It's not for everyone!

Love the concept and ended up playing it way too long! :D
You really captured the vibe of how I imagine the stereotypical day of a successful day trader. trading the news, playing your cards right while listening to Japanese City Pop. :D

  I recognized this one
As soon as the song started, I was hooked. My strategy was build a deck with lots of cashdash and fire sale cards, hodl circle and put my whole net worth into

triangle. then only buy/sell diamond for the rest of the run.

.  I had lots of +600k% buydiscounts or sales on the next trade. At a point i couldnt discard cards anymore because the numbers where so big that the ui expanded out of view to the left

My networth was this in the end.

I found a bug: selling x diamonds with bad news the next day, is playable when you have 0 diamonds and buys x diamonds with bad news tomorrow.

It was lots of fun, great game. contest winner imo :)

Developer

Wow thanks so much for playing and taking the time to write this out! I really appreciate it! I'm glad you enjoyed it so much and found some fun in the strategy. That's definitely the highest net worth I've seen, even amongst our play testing! Appreciate the bug report too, I've made a note to take a look at that. Stay tuned as we're looking into taking this game to the next level over the coming weeks/months. Thanks again!

my wealth was build on these cards :D

one more suggestion: maybe add some kind of scaling penalty for buying too many cards because it felt like i could buy cards for years.

For our updates to this, we'll be redesigning from the ground up! We had a lot of (I think) really cool ideas we had to cut because of jam time limitations, a messy codebase with a bunch of limitations, and a lot of this sort of evolved as the week went on. We leaned towards making the cards too strong and making the shop cheap so that players could feel their deck was "broken" (in a good way) quickly and experience a lot of the cards since jam play sessions are usually short. We want to strike a "balanced challenge" for the redesign, something that lets you build crazy combos (such as the one you shared!) but not quite as often/easily. Think Slay the Spire, Monster Train, or Balatro. Thanks again for your comments and feedback!

I see. I played for way too long for a jam, i admit. like 4 hours i think. but thats a good sign :D

Developer

Love to hear it! Follow me here on Itch or on BlueSky (@cinderous.bsky.social) for updates! We're still early in our planning, but I'm building out some tools to help expedite the card creation process so we can hit the ground running as soon as we solidify some core ideas around the game. We would love to have people like you engaged in the early versions to help guide the direction of the game!

I was a little confused at first. I thought the day would end when it said "Turn 20/20". Neat game!

Developer(+1)

I agree that is a bit confusing, I had some sort of UI elements (clock maybe?) slated to better convey that but unfortunately had to cut it for time reasons. Thanks for playing and for your comment!

Clean play.  I am a sucker for card games.  Good job.  Fun and creative.

Nice work! I loved the variety of cards and the flavor text in the news display!

Developer

Thank you! Thanks for playing and for your comment!

I had fun playing this game. Background music was really nice. The game was super responsive to the player input. I specially liked the concept you gave to it. Got stuck playing it for a little while. Good work!

Buy high, sell low, right? The game was fun to play, I liked how the companies had their own identity and effect. Special mention for triangle CEO caught with other simple shapes!

There's a slight bug on an orange card that made me buy shares instead of selling them. Kept wondering why I was always so low on cash!
A very nice game overall. :)

Developer

Thanks for playing, and for your comment! I'm glad you enjoyed the little extra flavor :) sorry that bug slipped thru and hit ya, definitely one of the biggest challenges of this - play testing all the cards after all the tweaks!

I got sucked into playing this for a bit, really cool and interesting concept. This would have a lot of potential as a fleshed out game. Great job with this one, really well done!

Developer

Hey thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it! We're definitely looking forward to expanding on some of the things we had to cut for the jam :) Thanks for your comment!

Really fun game! I love the concept of mixing a card game with the stock market.

Developer

Thank you! I sort of stumbled into the idea mid-week and I'm really glad I made the pivot! Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it!

Lowkey the stock market stresses me out so much (i don't understand it) so was surprised how much time I spent playing this game! Also love the music you went with :)

Developer(+1)

I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed it - that was one of the goals; to take the 'fear' out of the market and turn it into something fun! Thanks for playing and for your comment!

I have determined that I am better off playing stock market games than I am trying to time the real stock market. Fun game and well made

Haha you and me both! I'm glad you enjoyed it, thanks for playing and for your comment!

I went into this not really expecting to like it but man, I was I wrong. Very polished and well thought out. More sound effects on the buying and selling and I would have been sucked in for awhile.

Developer

Thanks for playing and thanks for your comment! I'm glad you enjoyed it. +1 on the sound effects, it was unfortunately one of the things I didn't quite have enough time to get in there in favor of bugfixes/polish but would love to have!
