Oh, my goodness!  I found a game that actually has an ending!  I'm loved by the people!  Is there a bad ending, I wonder?

So...many...references!

Developer(+1)

It depends on what you would deem bad, but I'd say there are no bad endings, except if you end up at 0 rep and get a game over :)

Good to know!

Missed opportunity with the sword and the beggar!  "You can't expect to wield supreme executive power just 'cause some watery tart threw a sword at you!"

Developer(+1)

Believe me or not, but that exact quote was on my to do list. Then it slipped my mind somehow :(

Ah, it's okay!  You still had plenty of Monty Python Holy Grail references in there anyway.

Very fun and simple game with a good amount of polish! One of the most enjoyable games in the jam! Great work!

Developer

Thanks for the kind words!

Awesome game, loved that there was looping music and a new background for each stage!  Really had me thinking about a lot of the choices, but maybe some of them weren't that deep? hmmm

Nice work!!

Developer

Thanks for streaming my game - watching others play is really nice feedback!

Submitted(+1)

Very solid and polished game! I love these types of "pic k a choice" game, and this one did really well! Especially in the time-scale! I liked how the background changed with reputation, and I thought the dialogue was pretty funny!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! We tried to work as much as time permitted on the dialogue. Having 15 characters reacting both negatively and positively on 14 items meant a total of 420 responses, so in the end we had to settle with a bit less than optimal. A possible development of the system would be to hard code only a handful of meaningful responses (the genie and the lamp, the cross and the vampire etc.), while creating a pool of random neutral, positive and negative responses that can be used regardless of character. This would make expanding the character and item pool far less punishing, and it is something we might look at later on.

Submitted(+1)

Honestly, I kind of liked it that sometimes I felt like there was no right answer, and you had to decide "which is the least punishing"!

This was a lot of fun to play and easy to understand what you were supposed to do, although it was kind of hard to guess who preferred what. I think the feedback given was wrong sometimes as well, e.g it would display 0 when the little explanation at the bottom said it would be -5. You really stuck to the theme as well!

Developer

Thanks for the constructive feedback. The behaviour you describe seems like it's not intended. I'll take a look at it. Most often, a 0 is the result of a negative and a positive response cancelling each other out (a +5 vs a -5 for example). Generally, this is one of the things I'd like to improve on, as getting 0 is quite frequent, and not really exciting. One idea I have to alleviate this is to have the faction reputation affect the reactions - a positive reputation could mean less of a penalty for a bad decision, for example, resulting in a greater variety of number and lesser risk of numbers being the same on both sides.

Submitted(+1)

That's a really great idea, adding some more depth to the reputation would certainly enhance the gameplay and give the player a little more incentive to keep on going.

Like the art style and the game mechanic was interesting.

Developer

Thank you - I am glad you liked it!

Simple to pick up, nice pixel art. I played it through to the end and enjoyed it. Nice work

Developer

Thank you for the kind comment, and for taking your time to play the game!

good themeing but quite unpolished around the edges, reminds me a lot of old flash games but far from a bad one, its just the kinda feel i get from this game.

Developer

Thanks for giving your feedback! Given the time frame, after making the decision to create all code and assets from scratch (including music, which usually takes a lot of time for me, even with simple tunes), going for a very simple style was the natural way to go to finish in time. The goal was to create a framework for a game, to see if the concept worked, rather than building something polished. Nice thing is I have received some great feedback regarding improvements, so I might definitely flesh the concept out both content and design wise in the future.

Very strong use of the theme and simple enough to easily pick up.

Thank you so very much!

Not bad. Played for a while, was there an ending? Nice Art.

(+1)

Thank you so very much for playing our game - the ending (three diffent) are at 500 reputation.

Submitted(+2)

Cool game, I liked figuring out who prefered what items and how it wasn't always obvious (genie doesn't want the lamp)

(+1)

Thank you so very much for testing our game! We had the Genie in Alladin in our mind when we decided that the Genie would not like the lamp.

Submitted(+2)

Nice game. Some of the picks seem kinda random, but that's fine! Not sure if there is an ending, but played it for a little bit. Pretty enjoyable. 4/5

(+1)

Thank you for playing our game. There is an end, or three, when you reach 500 in reputation.

Great music loop, lovely sprites too! I've not seen a game with this kind of mechanism before.. deciding who to give the random item to the random 2 people each time.. it's really addictive! Although giving the shovel to the knight should (1) be a positive thing and (2) give an achievement!

Thank you for playing and enjoying our game! Achivements would have been really fun - I will put that in our Trello if we decide to take the game futher! And yes, any Kight would need and love a shovel ;)

The idea of this game is pretty creative and the art looks nice. Ultimately it's a kind of memory/puzzle game where you try to remember the value that each of the items has to each of the characters. A minor improvement could be a progress indicator, as I had no idea when the game would end.

(+1)

Thank you, that is a good suggestion! I will put that in our Trello as a feature if we decide to keep on develop the game!

Submitted(+2)

Like the art. I enjoyed reading the comments of the characters :)
