Really fun and unique game

Submitted

Incredibly enjoyable and unbelievably addicting. A very well made and polished game, and in my opinion, the most fun to play game of the jam. It might not fit the theme too well, but the game is so fun to play it doesn't matter. The core dash mechanic is simple but feels incredibly rewarding especially when you get a combo going with your dashes syncing to the music. My only complaints are that we don't get more!!! 🥺 🥺 🥺 Also the difficulty could definitely be increased, maybe give the enemies more damage (personally I felt I could tank a lot of hits, because I knew I would heal it later), and maybe add an endless mode?

Submitted

Great game. Had so much fun playing it. I really loved the combat mechanics and how you added the theme into it. Nice variations on the levels and enemies also. The graphics and sounds were really cool too.
Awesome job...keep it up!

Such a great game. So crunchy. Such good game feel. Probably the best I’ve seen in the jam so far. image.png It was way way too easy which I guess is good for a jam game. I wish I could control the length of the dash by the length of the key press. Increasing it felt like a problem because it always had to be that long and sometimes I need to go short. The last boss/bosses were annoying because I didn’t upgrade movement speed so it was hard but possible to go around them. The enemy behavior didn’t feel like it belonged in this game.

This is something I would like to playtest again post-jam.

How did you make the graphics look so juicy, retro and popping?

Developer

Thanks a lot on the detailed feedback and the compliments! I'm glad you liked the game juice :D
also glad you were annoyed by the boss xd
The graphics are a combination of a pixelation shader, post processing, general camera shaking and a lot of hit feedback including particle systems and scale/color lerping. And i think sounds also might've contributed to the retro vibe.

Very high polished, well made!

Developer

Thanks! I appreciate it.

really fun game!

Developer

Thank you!

Nice idea and good execution, but upgrades are overpowered and level change gives too much time, leaving basically no difficulty, zero tension.

Also chromatic aberration and background hurt the eyes

Developer

Thanks!
Yeah, sorry about that, I didn't have much time left to add post processing toggles, and I couldn't risk making the game too difficult for unfamiliar players.

The gameplay is amazing!

Thank you!

It is quite a surprise how much fun you can have on a board game with simple figures. As a developer I always underappreciated how much fun you can have, without the usage of complex visual assets. A true example of a what a game jam should be. Simple but polished with an awesome gameplay. I really like your idea and execution. Possibly one of the best games in the jam.

Developer

Well, in a tight game jam like this one, I gotta make do of what I have by focusing on solid gameplay, then juice, otherwise, the game becomes more difficult to sustain, especially without a dedicated artist.

Anyway, thanks a lot for your kind words, I really appreciate it!

Submitted

I totally agree. You made the right decision. And I will keep that in mind for my next game jam!  Again, good job on the game!

Developer

Best of luck, my friend!

This is awesome. I completed it with 543 seconds left on my character.

Loved the movement, the perks, and the retro feel of the art style.

Probably my favorite game of the jam.

Developer(+1)

Wow, great job dude! I think mine was in the 400s xD
Anyway, thanks a lot! I'm very happy you enjoyed it.

Feedback: First the bad ones, then the good ones I’m writing it this way because your game is really big and very good overall!

The bad ones:

The graphics could definitely be improved.

There’s a bit of a lack of variety in my opinion, that makes the game a bit too easy.

Why not make it endless? It would fit perfectly with the “Timeless” theme.

The slight movement of the board (for whatever reason) gives me a bit of motion sickness.

The good ones:

Great sound and music design in Germany we’d say “Es fetzt!” 😄

Really fun gameplay it’s impressive how you achieve so much fun using such “basic” shapes.

Strong mechanical foundation. The game feels very polished, and the post-processing effects are a nice touch.

Conclusion: Of course, all my points are subjective that’s what games are about: everyone has their own opinion. You don’t have to care about mine 😉, but I believe that honest feedback helps good games become even better.

Thank you so much for your valuable feedback, I truly appreciate it, and it's extremely important to me!

Your points are very valid and I agree with you, the board movement or shaking disabling was actually implemented in the settings menu but apparently it broke xD. Thanks I guess for the heads-up, I'll have to fix it in the future.

Also, I would say the reason I didn't go with the endless approach is because I wanted the game to be a bit contained and have an objective, but its definitely a great idea to try and add after the jam!

And Also Thank you for the compliments! I'm very glad I learnt something new about Germany today :D!

This is such a fun and intense game! Man those enemies with their shield’s are annoying, and I won’t even begin about how hard I struggled with the end game boss hahah.

Really well done!

Developer(+1)

It warms my heart knowing how annoying my enemies are to players xD

Amazing gameplay... please rate ours

Developer

Thanks.

It's my favourite entry at this moment. While others may be slightly better in terms of graphic design or environmental narrative, your game is definitely the most fun I had. Like I just beat it and I straight away thought like 'maybe I should play it once again'. Great, great job! Game design at its best!

Developer

Thank you so much, my friend, these are such HUGE compliments! I really, really appreciate it, and I'm VERY happy you enjoyed it!
