Started on the graphics around 4 days before the jam, while still unsure about entering. The music used was pre-existing, and has been freely passed around for decades.

I wasn't familiar with  this type of puzzle so I was struggling for a bit, but eventually it started to feel pretty good! The tension of the game meshed really well with the struggle of the character, very fun!

Thanks! It's a type of puzzle that we came up with for the Jam :)

This has great polish. Like. Serious, professional-level polish. I slipped from my "reviewing a game jam game" mindset to my "playing a real game,  for fun" mindset without ever really noticing. Good transitions, solid sound effects, and the ever-so-satisfying bleep of clearing a row managed absolutely hammed my dopamine receptors. Well done.

(I'd also like to shout out the fact that the blocks tell you how they form combos. Really fun aha moment, and the point at which the gameplay really clicked for me.)

I really like the presentation, everything feels polished and there are lots of satisfying visual effects and sounds for every interaction! The music fits the action really well, it's really good at setting the right kind of hectic pace to the action. The art is great and has a well defined and consistent theme.

The pace of the gameplay feels a bit on the fast side, it's not always easy to get a sense of orientation in a new level before the clock starts running out. The check for connections does not happen immediately which sometimes leads to overclicking since the game strongly encourages players to hurry.

Overall the gameplay is very fun and offers some interesting twists on the dropping block puzzle genre. Great concept and excellent execution!

Seeing this as one of the first submissions was really inspiring at the time!!! I love the old-flash-game-y kind of art style here, and the expressions and teasy dialogue are all really cute. :3

Stylish. Charming. Cheesy.
I loved every second of this, and each tonal beat that it hit served the feeling and the fun. I would love to keep this on hand as a game I just regularly play for the silly fun of it. Spectacular work.

Damn.
The marriage between gameplay and aesthetic here is amazing - the nostalgia current through the entire piece makes it so fun to engage with. The corny, retro edge, especially to Dr. Brainlicker's lines? It was absolutely fuel to go and try and improve my score.
Which - to say that this game starts at pace is an understatement. I also missed the 'pattern on the block explains the block' in my first playthrough, mainly because I was panicking so hard about being so close to dying at level one LMAO. A tutorial in game would definitely not go awry, even if it was just to explain the first couple of blocks. I also wish there was a way to zoom in the game beyond physically zooming in the browser, but that's more minor.

It's a great twist on the genre, and feels really complete for a game jam gam - I was just typing "I want to try and beat my score of 6" and just went back and got to level 7, lmao!

Thank you for playing, and for your feedback. We're glad you enjoyed! :D
At the main menu, you will find a "Help" option, which has an explanation of the rules! You may even find a few mechanics in there that you didn't pick up on before.

I absolutely adore this game!!!

The synthesis of a hypno-villain and a brain-melting falling block puzzle game work so well. You nailed the aesthetic, and oh my gosh do I adore Dr. Brainlicker's many lines. Who doesn't love an evil scientist hypnovillain? (If you do find someone, please send them to my office for a chat 𖦹)

I do only wish it were easier-although the difficulty keeps me coming back to try again!

Holy shit. I love this game.
I adore the soundtrack choices so much, real tracker module flavour. Sound design is also great. The visual style reminds me a bit of whatever aesthetic they were tapping into for Invader Zim, and I love the icons on the blocks telling you what you need to do to clear them (although I was a bit confused by the cyan face blocks). Simple concept executed with great polish. I liked the interactions between captive and captor, too.

Fun game, WAY harder than you'd think

Very gud game, the difficulty escalation is kinda wild

Wow, really cool. I love the music and how the level progression is synced to its ramping up. Resisting and delaying the likely inevitable takeover of the protagonist's mind is a great fit for this kind of gameplay and we love a cocky evil hypnodom (and a crux. Don't see too many of those).

It took me until seeing one of the other comments to realize that the shapes on the blocks corresponded to what shape you needed to put them in (i may be stupid), i have my assumption for what shape the arrows are supposed to go in but i haven't been able to actually accomplish it amongst the pace and the chaos of everything else so i ended up just ignoring those entirely. I'm up to level 5 so far. Really wanna see more of the dialogue though, so probably i'll be coming back to this one.

Damn that is fucking good. The sound, music, art, and gameplay all come together so well. Finally managed to beat level 5. A practice mode to figure out how to best arrange blocks would be a good addition if you ever update this.

Holy shit this is good???

First impressions when booting up the game is that this looks straight out of 2007 with the tracket music and the general... feel? of the title screen

When I started playing though my god this is fun, it's like bejeweled twist with one hell of a twist (haha) on things with how blocks clear. This gets hard fast, but honestly it feels unique in this block puzzle genre that i tried for a bit to push for survival. Made it to level 7, seems to be about halfway, there's a chance I come back to it to try and beat it.

Local block puzzle nerd approves

This is really fun. I'll definitely be coming back to try to beat it

The gameplay really gets you feeling as overwhelmed as the hypnotized character (in a good way :3 )

Also, big fan of how each block has it's own kind of pattern to destroy them

this is actually pretty fun
