Damn.
The marriage between gameplay and aesthetic here is amazing - the nostalgia current through the entire piece makes it so fun to engage with. The corny, retro edge, especially to Dr. Brainlicker's lines? It was absolutely fuel to go and try and improve my score.
Which - to say that this game starts at pace is an understatement. I also missed the 'pattern on the block explains the block' in my first playthrough, mainly because I was panicking so hard about being so close to dying at level one LMAO. A tutorial in game would definitely not go awry, even if it was just to explain the first couple of blocks. I also wish there was a way to zoom in the game beyond physically zooming in the browser, but that's more minor.
It's a great twist on the genre, and feels really complete for a game jam gam - I was just typing "I want to try and beat my score of 6" and just went back and got to level 7, lmao!
