Got the bad ending and really enjoyed this! I especially enjoyed the characters, and the battles themselves are satisfying. Can't quite figure out the good ending, unless it is "sacrifice the other characters" then I'll leave things there cuz I don't want to do that to a cast I like this much hehe.
I also love the casualness of just having furry and human characters together, the variety is fun and theyre all so unique and cool.
Hello! I enjoyed streaming your game, so I have some observations for it:
The artstyle fits the game very well, with an atmosphere which feels very well constructed. You managed to even make the default RTPs look good when you used it. XD
For the story I kinda lost track at a certain point since the game has maybe too much story elements that only get narrated. And it's hard to understand the personality of the characters (Except the fox) with their dialogues.
I liked the gameplay, despite being pretty similar to the default one: with limited resources fighting takes a completely different mood, so being careful on not getting your characters killed makes the battles more important - and so more enjoyable.
For the exploration part, you seem used to make the player check twice a lot of already examined objects (the clock, the dolls, the drawer, the doors-!). But I found it confusing since as a player I usually never think of returning to check a previous object that didn't do anything useful for me. while for the doors, I don't see much sense in letting the player check every door each time he gets a new key.
I hope you enjoyed the stream, even with my critiques. Here's the VOD C:
Thanks for the feedback and streaming!
About the double checking objects and wandering around the map, I was trying to make the game more "dynamic" but it ended up being a little out of place...
About the story, I ended up cutting a lot of it to make the game short to be easily played but I regredt it a little since the story and characters intentions can be a little confusing XD
I'll try to make a remake of this game when I get more time to dedicate to it
I watched the stream, I'm really enjoying participating more actively with a game jam so that's it
The art is beautiful and the maps are reminiscent of old-school dungeon crawlers. You definitely have a really good style going for this project!
There are a few areas that need polishing, what with the overly-high encounter rates, and loading zones that aren't always obvious to the player, but I think with some touching up you'll have a really fun adventure! Also I would definitely recommend some kind of splash art for cutscenes, cause a lot of this game is just text over a black screen and it does take away from the drama of some of the cutscenes.
Okay. So... how to put this nicely. This game definitely has a lot of potential. I really like the character designs (raccoon and minotaur are my favourites) and the isometric layouts are interesting if not a little bit disorienting due to the characters on a 4-directional path on an isometric map.
Unfortunately, from grammatical/spelling issues galore to context I'm not fully aware of to translation not being complete (some are in a different language), it leaves a bad taste in the experience.
The battles are also another point of contention. Inconsistent battle sprites with the battlers, no follower gimmick. There's no faces in the UI, skills are the basic default skills but with a different name. There's not much in the way of actual strategy. The dragons (both salt and poison) are very tanky which makes it boring. I'm honestly felt disappointed. I thought it could be better. But I suppose you don't have much time to polish that aspect up and make due with what you have.
The story feels like its all over the place and doesn't have any consistent theming (if there is, the execution is a little wonky) other than the ending which is kinda abrupt btw. I honestly am a little lost on the whole prayer thing and the faith from the "other side". The puzzles felt confusing in some aspects and a little lost in others. (You have to interact with the same thing twice to get somewhere.) I feel like english isn't your first language and it kinda shows from the sentence structure to the lack of translation in some areas.
Honestly, this feels like it could go places. But sadly when you look past the surface of the pretty style/graphics, its lacking in the other areas.
Thanks for the feedback!
About the time to polish, I admit I ended up focusing a lot on the graphics and story, which ended up making me activelly work on the game on a very short time-
I'll try to keep my experience with this jam on the general as a lesson to better administrate my time during those projects
Guessing there's a bunch of alternate paths to take since I got murdered by a dragon after the statue collapsed. Hm.
I like the character art a lot. The dialogue is very, very difficult to read.
