Hello! You already saw the stream, but just a quick comment:
I enjoyed the experience, the mistery was... mysterious, and the puzzles were overall interesting. I got stuck on the mirror puzzle, since it wasn't really clear to me that the steps to take are the numbers to the password.
As a note, I would suggest against using the popup prompt to insert answers in the game since it appears "outside" of the game and is better suited for meta elements, and instead use the default system - even if without visustella core it doesn't allow free keyboard input
Dude, what a great game. I found the narrative of your game very interesting, which, as I said on RPG Maker Web, is sensational. In addition to leaving loose ends for new stories. And yes, I'm going to play the other titles you have just to understand your mythology and literature. Congratulations.
Thank you!
I did like some of the aspects of this one. For one I like the subversion of expectation with the page. It looks so bright and colorful and in reality it's a horror game. I wasn't ever particularly scared, since you don't often have control to avoid scares or deaths, it's just something to catch you off guard, usually involving loud noises, which I'm mostly accustomed to. But that's just me. I got stuck on one of the first puzzles involving the box and the television. I swear to god the TV says "4212" and it being a 4-digit code I thought the code was to the right door in the hallway upstairs. I thought maybe I saw the sequence out of order when I saw it so I tried "2124" "1242" and "2421" and when none of them worked I took a break. I got so hung up on it being a code for that door because it was the only place where I could put in a 4 digit code And the only other place I could put a code was in the living room, but that only had 3 digits. So I took a break and came back and put "421" into the box and it worked. I'm not sure if adding an extra 2 into the sequence on channel 2 was intentional but it definitely threw my off of what I was supposed to do. After that I breezed through the rest of the game without issue. I liked the puzzles. They were fun. I liked some of the bright and cheery visuals in contrast with some of the darker ones. I didn't understand what exactly was happening in the story but I enjoyed the weird mind games it plays. I did run into a bug when Dog Man is in your bedroom and every time you interact with him he'll play the event where he gives you the wardrobe key. I also ran into a few bugs involving assets carrying over from other rooms.
I wasn't entirely sure why this happened but it's something that happened several times with different shelf items. I also second the opinion from Starmage that some of the transfer events should be set to player touch rather than action button. I also feel like the game could use more SFX. Like background sounds or doors shutting. It feels too quiet and often the only sounds you're accompanied with are the menu sounds and jumpscares.
But overall this was a neat game. I like most of the puzzles and I liked a lot of the art. I like the layout of the house and the tileset used. It all looked nice and pretty good. Again I love the subversion of expectation, I wasn't expecting a horror game. I liked how you can access the right room early but are told to leave, I love how that's even an option. I thought that was really cool. You did good.
Thank youuuu a lot! I am really happy for this comment. The parallax bug is something I am about to fix. Didn't have the chance yet. The Doggo-forever -key-bug either. I was expecting to get most complains about the mirror- steps puzzle, but now I remember one of the tester trying to discover the door code too. The tileset is full RtP, I decided for this, the Rtp has its charm, I think. Yes, it is a colorful and playful game with a terror background. Thanks again. I will take notes for when I am able to fix the bugs and the transitions, after the jam. 🫰🫰🫰🫰
I just played this, but was stuck on the mirror scenes for some reason x(( I didnt know how to move forward and got confused with the facing directions, as Im quite unaware how to "face" a direction without my char moving a step lol. xD So if you can let me know the code in the mirror, thatll help, but its also okay if you dont share it xD <3
But yes, with what I played so far, it's mostly RTP and with some edited tiles, but it's used very well and you did a great job still making the rooms in the house feel very unsettling and creepy even with limited tiles, I love the mysteries about the astral projections and spirituality being sprinkled around the books and computer logs! Some of the jumpscares did got to me like the ghost pushing down the picture frame! xD Also doggo monster is cute, maybe he just wants to get petted. xD
Some feedback I have so far is it would be nice if the teleport events are set to player touch instead of action button? so we can move from room to room with ease. xD And the house could use more of those background sound effects of floors creeking and stuff to add to the creepy factor. I would also suggest a darker/creepier windowskin? But that'd be too much to ask considering the time frame now. xD
But so far you did a great job conveying that creepy and unsettling feeling! So great job with that! Congrats on finishing an entry! <3
aaaaahaaaa. Starmage commented my game! 🤩
Thanks for advices and suggestions. That would make the game nicer, yes! Improvements.
About the mirror puzzle: you need step out the tile to turn. The first is 3 steps then go one and vack one( face left), it gives you 5 down. You steps 5 tiles, go up and down, it gives you 9. You walk 9 and resets. So the password is 3, 5,9.
If you step the wrong tile it gives you wrong number. 🤭😈
About doggo monster: he is cute, but he is evil! Watch out cuteness! LOL.
Thanks so much for the code, I was able to finish it thankfully! And damnn, lots of creepy and unsettling stuff like the guys hanging on the balloon, or the room full of corpses :O And It's a super cool concept that she's having these nightmares is because she's being possessed or overtaken by the creature (I wonder if that was Lyca taking over Luna? Or was it the Doggo? lol) but yeahh, also adore that puzzle scene and her face turning scary at the end. xD <3 So again great job! This was a fun horror adventure, it was giving silent hill in terms of concept and idea. xD <3
Thaaaanks. 🤩
