This game was actually very well designed. I like how you introduce mechanics, how many mechanics there are, and how simple it is to all understand. This is a pretty great puzzle game and you were able to make a lot of levels, overall a very good submission

The game dragged on for too long, i completed the game but i was more glad that it was finally over than happy about escaping with my friend, for a game jam a shorter experience is better in my opinion, i spent too much time on this.
Hello Lysdal, sorry if my comment sounded too aggressive, I was frustrated because your game was easily one of the best of the jam until I got tired, the level of polish is incredible, the mechanics are engaging and the music/sound/art design is pleasing, I wanted to keep playing because I don't think I can give a fair review if I don't see the whole experience the games has to offer, I didn't know if there was a save system so I was scared that I would have to restart from level 1 if I quitted.
While it's true that it was my fault that I didn't have a good time, I think it's valid criticism since that could happen to anyone, not just me.
When you develop a game, you usually expect the player to want to keep playing and see all the main content it has to offer, I just wanted to tell you my experience, which wasn't good, but that doesn't mean the game was bad, enjoyment is subjective after all, and maybe the challenge of the game is not for me, I hope you weren't discouraged by my words.
That's fair and all, enjoyment is subjective. I just don't feel like "It dragged on too long" is constructive criticism in the context of a puzzle game for a game jam. Btw I have no affiliation to this game, just sharing my thoughts as I didn't want the developer to limit himself because of this review :)
I just checked and the uploader is Rattus, my bad! It was too late at night so I got confused on who made this, anyway, I guess what I didn't like was to redo all the changes every time I fail, the developer doesn't necessarily have to cut or make less levels, but I do think that making too much levels could be detrimental to the overall experience of the game.
I do agree that for a typical puzzle game, length should not be an issue. However, I understand what you mean about it being too long for a game jam game. My hope is for people to play through most of (if not all) of the game, and I do admit that I pushed myself to create an arbitrary amount of levels that may have been more than needed and so I appreciate the feedback. Thank you!
We escaped !! Damn that was hard but rewarding. That last level was insane. Those puzzles were really nicely crafted. The 10 was a pretty big step up but then it feels a bit easier to anticipate, I’m not sure why. The only thing that makes me rage a bit was to redo all the changes every time I fail especially on the last level.. Well done tho, the game really felt good and rewarding.
Very nice game! I really enjoyed figuring out the puzzles. The balance of simple instructive levels and harder levels was very well done.
I kept forgetting that the thin blue ones could be rotated too, which made some levels way harder, lol.
At some point, I got annoyed with the slow speed at which the sound had to move through the bigger levels. Later, I figured out what the top slider was for.
If I had to change something, I would make it so that the orientation of the blocks remained the same after a failure. Setting up all the blocks, then forgetting to rotate the player and immediately failing, and then having to set up all the blocks again was a bit of a pain.
I contrast to what some others said, I think it was nice that some levels had unnecessary blocks, so that figuring out which blocks to use was part of the puzzle. However, a few levels had bigger sections of the map consisting of blocks that weren't used (for example the last level), which felt a bit dull, but not terrible
All in all, great game!
I'm glad you eventually found that top slider, especially with the later levels being far longer. Perhaps I should have made it more obvious what it does lol. I definitely agree that the orientation of the blocks should have stayed the same, and as for the unnecessary blocks I appreciate your perspective on that. I did feel a bit cheap at times adding "artificial difficulty" in the more of useless information like that, but it's interesting to hear how it may have been enjoyed by some. Thanks for all the feedback!
I definitely agree with a lot of the reviews here that this is an absolutely incredible game! Especially given the time constraints.
The visual style is simple but charming, the mechanics are intricate yet understandable and the overall presentation is wonderful. It's definitely difficult enough and the included option to change the echo speed is the exact kind of attention to detail that shows a lot of care and thought was put into this project.
I normally try to give critiques but honestly I'm struggling to come up with any as this game is just so well put together. I think if you added more levels and mechanics you would have a game worth paying money for!
Wow! We have a winner. This game was a gem! Nice puzzles, good difficulty and fun gameplay! My nitpicking is that the music and sound should be controlled separately so that I can turn off the music but keep the sounds. The music was nice, but on level 10 I started to get tired of it. But holy, what a great job!
I really enjoyed this one, but the design of the puzzles was a bit confusing at time, I think the problem is that, in some levels, there are many unnecessary reflecting objects that throw you off because you think you need to take them into account, but you don't. Also, the difficulty curve is a bit off, some early levels are way harder than many later ones. Btw, a hint option would be nice, but I know it would have taken too long to implement. I think the game is already very fun, the gameplay is addictive, and I really appreciated the inclusion of an option to change the echo's speed, I found myself using it a lot.
I really really like this game, it feels very complete. So complete i would probably pay for it on something like steam with more levels of course. The fact that this was made in three days is amazing. The art style and color combination is all really nice. The difficulty is perfect, it took me a while to beat the game. I loved the pace of introducing new blocks and how they work, i didnt even notice the tutorial button before i finished the game
I enjoyed the puzzle aspect of your game, It was fun to try an figure out. The theme was also super fitting. For your first game in such a short time span, this is really good and you should be proud :).
one comment I would have is when introducing new blocks to the player, I wasnt really sure what they did until i shot at them. I did notice you had a tutorial screen showing them al but I couldn't remember all the blocks XD. But otherwise great game, i did enjoy it :D
I absolutely love this game! The charming 2D pixel artwork is fantastic, and the puzzle mechanics are enjoyable. It strikes a nice balance of challenge, especially with the gradual introduction of new mechanics through the levels. Even if you didn't read the tutorial, the introductory levels effectively convey the ideas and mechanics, gradually ramping up the difficulty and testing your knowledge of each mechanic. It's a great approach that I really appreciate!
I must also commend you for the seamless integration of the theme. It fits perfectly and adds to the overall experience. If I had to nitpick, and I mean this is a very minor point, it would be the music. Personally, I feel like it doesn't perfectly align with the game's atmosphere. However, I understand that music preferences are subjective, and the retro chiptune sound does have its charm. It's just that it doesn't quite evoke the feeling of being in a cave trying to rescue my cave pal imo. :/
That being said, I want to emphasize that I'm being extremely picky here because overall, I adore this game! It has easily become one of my favorites. The combination of delightful pixel art, engaging puzzle mechanics, and a well-executed theme make it a standout experience! def playing this more in my spare time haha!
