Description
Hi!
This is my submission for the OST composing jam. There are 4 tracks, and they are mostly orchestral or wind ensemble-y type pieces.
The 1st track is the main theme, this aims to introduce the leitmotif of the game.
The 2nd track is the combat(ish) theme, it also has a lead up so it may actually be a boss fight. I'm not really sure either.
Track 3 is a big change from the two first. I imagined it to be an open-world game OST so I wrote an ambient track for it. It is inspired by 'the fields of Ard Skellig' from the Witcher 3.
Track 4 is sort of like the ending, I agree it is a little rushed but school and running out of time so this is what I could turn in.

It was a dark and powerful journey, one that was important and changed the protagonist forever (sorta like LOTR I guess).

Great stuff! I actually really like the oboe sound in the second piece- the default Musescore oboe for some reason has always sounded pleasant to me (at least as of Musescore 3)- that and the bassoon. I also use Musescore 3- and what I've been trying to do lately is take advantage of their new Mixer and Synthesizer features. You can upload VSTs to Musescore- select them through the Synthesizer and mess with them with the Mixer. That's what I did for my entry- I uploaded a GBA-like VST and composed and mixed everything within Musescore. Just a thought!
MuseScore is my go-to note software, but I really like you expressive you were able to make your tracks in spite of its often-less-than-ideal MIDI sounds! Really like your oboe placement – reminds me of FFVII. :)

Well done, especially given time constraints and the program you worked in. I haven't used musescore, but I imagine it's similar to finale, which I used to do all my composing in.
I loved trying to follow along in the scores for these, so thanks for including them. It reminded me of music school struggling to follow along in orchestral scores with a gazillion staves on one page so you have to turn every eight measures or so, so that was fun, a rare treat. Nice use of hemiola in your leitmotif, it helped make it very recognizable imo. If you can take some time to work this further, I know I would like to hear more tracks with the instrumentation you had in track three (probably my favorite one). I do like the rich orchestration in the bigger tracks, but I think there's room in your OST for songs with a full orchestra and songs with a smaller ensemble. Also, I would like to hear the leitmotif taken in a few more directions. (It started getting a bit repetitive for me.) But props for weaving it so thoroughly into every track.

You made amazing harmonies. I love them :) Also congratulations for creating something in Musescore :D It's impossible for me. In musescore you can't mix and master music (I can be wrong, but I think you can't) and it's a disadventage of your soundtrack, but overall idea is great and interesting. Good job! :)
Really liked it, the begining with the arpeggios anticipates the epicness to come.

Excellent writing! You should get a few sound banks to make this sound more realistic and you’re all set (or get your pieces to be played by professional orchestras if you have the opportunity). I’m pretty sure you’ll do excellent job with sound banks given how it already sounds great from musescore. Great attention to details !

Immediately, I specify that if there is a note that I particularly appreciate in this OST, yes a precise note, it is well this "B flat" which takes specially over little by little in the orchestration of the main theme. A real find which is not without recalling the masterful style of Clint Mansell, which one finds used sparingly in the harmony of the other pieces, which shows how much this choice is assumed. The presence of the scores in PDF is also an excellent idea to appreciate the detail of the work carried out, in particular in the contrapunctic side so difficult to perceive with exactitude with the ear. The whole of the OST benefits from a strong tonal unity, and the general atmosphere that emerges is particularly sad and resigned, very strong in emotions.
The melodies are quite good, and I love the musical ideas you have put into this. I think it has a lot of potential. Keep up the great work!

I like the way you changed things up with the flute in OST 3. I like the way OST 2 instantly becomes more dramatic at 0:35. You chose instruments and timbre's quite well.
