*BREAK THE SYSTEM*
fight the “New Entertainment System” and well, break it!
3 different types of enemies
unfortunately I didn’t have enough time to incorporate the lore -
the idea was that the club (weapon) the character is using would be given and then the first line of the lore would be used, and before the final boss as you get new weapons the 2nd line of the lore would be used hinting that a boss arrives.

Enemy models by @yas.pes on Instagram
rest of art is from the unity asset store + some modifications on my end
-
music by context sensitive (existing music tracks that are free to use)

Programming was me 👀
SFX is bonk + modifications in code to make it sound pleasant and not repetitive 😛
Had to go back to this to try for a new score. I really like it! I do second other's suggestions of making the health-bars more visible, but I've seen it's on your to-do. :) I don't know if I have anything to add that other people haven't allready said in terms of improvement suggestions. It's a lot of fun. ^^
Also, I very much admire your submit-time, it's beautiful. The stress! 😂
Tysm!! 🙏🙏🙏 I live for the stress 😬 lol I was making last minute changes before submitting, this game started off as 2d and I started clean 48 hours before submission 😅 so I needed every second I could get
I didn’t want to modify the health bar and other major suggestions yet because I didn’t think it would be fair since it wouldn’t be just a small tweak and could give me an “advantage” over other submissions 😅 but I hope to take a couple days and improve it after the jam is over!! Building a todo list with suggestions so yea the health bar is on it! 🙌
Again thank you for coming back to it, it means a lot to me 🙏😭
Great game. I managed to get to wave 16. Would have liked a longer break between waves.
Definitely one of my favourite entries! You really nailed the feeling of progression and the difficulty curve was also well done, the only thing that made it a bit easy was that you can just camp on top of the raised ground and pretty much chill the entire time because the enemies struggle to get ontop of them. Also the enemy healthbars were more or less inside off them, so you couldn't really see them, but thats just a little nitpick. Great Game!
thank you so much for the kind words 🙏 spawning and enemy movement were pretty late in the jam so i just jotted something down really quick, recently learned of Pathfinding in unity and i’m hoping to apply it in this game in the future! lol yea i noticed the healthbar issue, I didn’t have enough time to debug the position per model, on my todo!
I accidentally played this game the longest out of any of them so far! :D
I guess that's a good thing. I got to a point that controllers were dying in one toss which was nice. Something I'd like to see are enemy health bars. Not knowing the health made killing the enemies seem like a chore in the beginning. All in all great job 👏
Cute art style and sound effects. Nice presentation. The attacks were satisfying. Only issues were 1) no quit button 2) Enemies could get stuck at the base of the raised platforms if you sit in the right spot and could just wail on them from there. Still presented a challenge when trying to get to upgrades though and if/when some spawned on the platform you were on. Just might suggest having them able to climb up to the platforms but not sure how that will change difficulty. Other than that great submission and had fun playing it!
re:no quit button, oops! I added proper menu settings and options such as quit and resolution change to my todo list!
2: yea the AI is pretty dumb right now 😛 hoping to use unity pathfinding next, just learned about it from a previous comment!
super glad you enjoyed the game!! thank you so much for the kind words!
I can play it now! The enemies spawned now. It was pretty fun, the bonk sound effect when hitting the enemies was amazing. I managed to walk where the bosses spawned and died instantly, but that was my fault.
Such a charming little game! I loved whacking the enemies. There are a few issues with the pathfinding and I didn't realize that I was hit before I died because the sound effect is the same for when you hit the enemy. Aside from that, great job!
Lol I added the sounds effect about 1 hour before submitting the game and after about 30+ hours of no sleep, so i took the easy way out and just added a “bonk” and reused it 😅
Thank you so much for the kind words btw 🙏 means a lot to me!
re:pathfinding, lol yea i just found out about it after someone mentioned it, i had no clue it was a thing - I only ever worked with 2d and never needed proper pathfinding, this is my first 3d game 😅
maybe i’ll publish an update for this game one day after this jam is over with actual pathfinding and not just “move in direction of player” 😛
I don't know what happened, but pressing F is not letting me open the first chest, and nothing is spawning at all. Maybe something with the Chest UI?
Gameplay was pretty fun. I definitely liked the microtranscation mechanic! But 3 things:
- The chest purchase screen never left after you got near one
- Enemy AI often got stuck. Maybe try out Unity pathfinding?
- There was no way to exit the game and unlock the mouse, so I had to force shutdown my pc (on Linux)...
Thanks for playing!!!
- The chest purchase screen never left after you got near one
fixed in 1.1, waiting for permission to upload a patch!
-Enemy AI often got stuck. Maybe try out Unity pathfinding?
o that would be cool, never tried it before
- There was no way to exit the game and unlock the mouse, so I had to force shutdown my pc (on Linux)…
o man I was testing only in editor, so mouse was free 😬 if you die it unlocks the mouse but it’s definitely not a proper solution 😅
