*BREAK THE SYSTEM*

fight the “New Entertainment System” and well, break it!
3 different types of enemies
unfortunately I didn’t have enough time to incorporate the lore -

the idea was that the club (weapon) the character is using would be given and then the first line of the lore would be used, and before the final boss as you get new weapons the 2nd line of the lore would be used hinting that a boss arrives.

Hey there! I streamed your game and reviewed it before the rating period ended. I enjoyed your game and I hope you had a fun experience!

Developer(+1)

I saw the videos of your stream earlier this week! glad you got around to this one 😄 Thanks for trying it out and the feedback in the video!🙏

Submitted

No problem! It was a great experience for sure!

Amazing game well done on theme!!!
I love the sounds and music!!!!

I love the art style

Developer (4 edits)

TYSM! Glad you enjoyed it!!

  • Enemy models by @yas.pes on Instagram

rest of art is from the unity asset store + some modifications on my end

  • music by context sensitive (existing music tracks that are free to use)

  • Programming was me 👀

SFX is bonk + modifications in code to make it sound pleasant and not repetitive 😛

Had to go back to this to try for a new score. I really like it! I do second other's suggestions of making the health-bars more visible, but I've seen it's on your to-do. :) I don't know if I have anything to add that other people haven't allready said in terms of improvement suggestions. It's a lot of fun. ^^

Also, I very much admire your submit-time, it's beautiful. The stress! 😂

Developer(+1)

Tysm!! 🙏🙏🙏 I live for the stress 😬 lol I was making last minute changes before submitting, this game started off as 2d and I started clean 48 hours before submission 😅 so I needed every second I could get

I didn’t want to modify the health bar and other major suggestions yet because I didn’t think it would be fair since it wouldn’t be just a small tweak and could give me an “advantage” over other submissions 😅 but I hope to take a couple days and improve it after the jam is over!! Building a todo list with suggestions so yea the health bar is on it! 🙌

Again thank you for coming back to it, it means a lot to me 🙏😭

Submitted(+1)

Cool! If you make a post-jam update, I'll gladly check it out! :D

Developer

Oh btw! Did you get a new high score?? One of my friends got to wave 16 😂

Submitted(+1)

Nooo, only 8 this time, got unlucky treasures. And I'm also at work (if I spam-click to much, it may raise a few eyebrows). ;D But i will most likely try to beat their a** later! :D

Developer(+1)

I think a leaderboard would be a dope addition 😛 so far some friends suggested this should be a mobile game instead of desktop, would love to hear your opinion!

Submitted

I agree! Leaderboard would be really fun. ^^ I personally have played way to few mobile games where you have this type of movement and camera-control, but if you'd manage to solve it - I think it would be awesome. ^^

Submitted(+1)

Great game. I managed to get to wave 16. Would have liked a longer break between waves.

Developer

thank you so much for playing! I agree a break between waves would be useful - added to my todo! thank you!

Definitely one of my favourite entries! You really nailed the feeling of progression and the difficulty curve was also well done, the only thing that made it a bit easy was that you can just camp on top of the raised ground and pretty much chill the entire time because the enemies struggle to get ontop of them.  Also the enemy healthbars were more or less inside off them, so you couldn't really see them, but thats just a little nitpick. Great Game!

Developer(+1)

thank you so much for the kind words 🙏 spawning and enemy movement were pretty late in the jam so i just jotted something down really quick, recently learned of Pathfinding in unity and i’m hoping to apply it in this game in the future! lol yea i noticed the healthbar issue, I didn’t have enough time to debug the position per model, on my todo!

Submitted(+1)

I accidentally played this game the longest out of any of them so far! :D

I guess that's a good thing. I got to a point that controllers were dying in one toss which was nice. Something I'd like to see are enemy health bars. Not knowing the health made killing the enemies seem like a chore in the beginning. All in all great job 👏

TYSM that means a lot to me! 😭🙏

the health bar were glitched and i didn’t have time to fix it! on my todo!

Submitted(+1)

The art style was nice and the enemies were cute. And the telekinetic bat attacks felt good.

One thing: Some times the enemies spawn right below the character without warning. There should be a clearer spawn area or disable spawn when the character is on top.

Developer

Thank you so much playing the game and for the kind words! 🙏 added tweaking the spawn area to my todo list! thank you for the feedback!!🙌

Submitted(+1)

Cute art style and sound effects. Nice presentation. The attacks were satisfying. Only issues were 1) no quit button 2) Enemies could get stuck at the base  of the raised platforms if you sit in the right spot and could just wail on them from there. Still presented a challenge when trying to get to upgrades though and if/when some spawned on the platform you were on. Just might suggest having them able to climb up to the platforms but not sure how that will change difficulty. Other than that great submission and had fun playing it!

Developer(+1)

re:no quit button, oops! I added proper menu settings and options such as quit and resolution change to my todo list!

2: yea the AI is pretty dumb right now 😛 hoping to use unity pathfinding next, just learned about it from a previous comment!

super glad you enjoyed the game!! thank you so much for the kind words!

Submitted(+1)

I can play it now! The enemies spawned now. It was pretty fun, the bonk sound effect when hitting the enemies was amazing. I managed to walk where the bosses spawned and died instantly, but that was my fault.

Developer

Awesome to hear that you were able to play! Glad you enjoyed it 😄🙏

Submitted(+1)

Enjoyed it a lot! Will probably try for a higher score in a second attempt later. :D Managed to get to wave 15.

Developer(+1)

wow! wave 15, that’s really impressive actually - you actually beat my high score by one 😛 I managed to get to 14 while testing it

Thank you so much for the kind words!🙏
would love to hear any notes for improvement if you have some! 🙌

Submitted(+1)

Such a charming little game! I loved whacking the enemies. There are a few issues with the pathfinding and I didn't realize that I was hit before I died because the sound effect is the same for when you hit the enemy. Aside from that, great job!

Developer(+1)

Lol I added the sounds effect about 1 hour before submitting the game and after about 30+ hours of no sleep, so i took the easy way out and just added a “bonk” and reused it 😅

Thank you so much for the kind words btw 🙏 means a lot to me!

re:pathfinding, lol yea i just found out about it after someone mentioned it, i had no clue it was a thing - I only ever worked with 2d and never needed proper pathfinding, this is my first 3d game 😅

maybe i’ll publish an update for this game one day after this jam is over with actual pathfinding and not just “move in direction of player” 😛

Submitted(+1)

A fun game. The graphics are great. Enemies after death still hurt me, and I was able to continue playing after the Game Over screen. But I enjoyed it. Well done :)

Developer(+1)

TYSM for the kind words 🙏❤️

  • Enemies after death still hurt me
Aw man I think u downloaded it right before I patched it! 1.0.2 fixes this
  • I was able to continue playing after the game over screen
Oops, an unintended “feature” 😅 will fix it when I get a chance 😛
Submitted

hahah, yeah I played the version1.0.1 . But doesn't matter, really is a good work

(+1)

The game is okay and fun to play, but it's annoying that the enemies still deal damage even after they are dead.  They easily get stuck which is quite exploitable, but other than that, it's a great game made in a jam!

Developer (2 edits) (+1)

Thanks for playing!!

  • the enemies still deal damage even after they are dead

Oops! I’ll patch the enemies to not damage on death soon 😅

  • “…it’s a great game made in a jam!”

Thank you 😊🙏

I don't know what happened, but pressing F is not letting me open the first chest, and nothing is spawning at all. Maybe something with the Chest UI?

Developer

Thanks for trying to play! what platform were you on? was it consistently happening? what version did you play? 1.0.1 fixes some bugs, if this happens in that version too let me know and i’ll look into it asap! TYSM again for the feedback🙏

Submitted(+1)

I was using the windows build, and the version on the jam page when you posted about it in discord, which I think was 1.01. Hope this helps!

Submitted(+1)

Gameplay was pretty fun. I definitely liked the microtranscation mechanic! But 3 things:

  • The chest purchase screen never left after you got near one
  • Enemy AI often got stuck. Maybe try out Unity pathfinding?
  • There was no way to exit the game and unlock the mouse, so I had to force shutdown my pc (on Linux)...

Developer

Thanks for playing!!!

- The chest purchase screen never left after you got near one
fixed in 1.1, waiting for permission to upload a patch!

-Enemy AI often got stuck. Maybe try out Unity pathfinding?
o that would be cool, never tried it before

- There was no way to exit the game and unlock the mouse, so I had to force shutdown my pc (on Linux)…
o man I was testing only in editor, so mouse was free 😬 if you die it unlocks the mouse but it’s definitely not a proper solution 😅
