The controls are great, i like how you can choose the height of your jump. Simple and clean graphics, the concept is a bit overused but really well implemented, you had a few ideas and combined them nicely, that's good level design. A few tweaks could be implemented, like zero-ing out the speed once you die, I died a lot of times just after respawning bc the character just flew off the platform. But overall really nice entry!

Developer

movement is actually zeroed out after dying but yeah i do agree i'm not too happy about the respawning i think blocking input after dying for a very short time could fix that

I don't think I've ever seen a "death that leaves no body" in any games with a similar concept to this, so right off the bat it's unique. Plus I love the art style, it's clean, cartoony, and simplistic in a good way. It fits the music super well.

However, I think the levels need a few more checkpoints - it felt kind of tedious to have to go back a long way even when I knew I was making progress. That and I think there needs to be a controls rework, or at least some arrow keys support - the controls felt slightly unnatural and my left hand started to cramp at the end.

Overall, though, the game was still really good, and I had fun with it.

Minor edit: Whoops, looks like something bugged out and I might've sent this twice.

I love this game! Similar to  Death Again. Will there be a speedrunning leaderboard? I think it would be a great game to speedrun!

Developer(+1)

i might do that it sounds like a good idea

Love the idea of dead-body-platformer! Good job!

Fantastic use of the limitation, some of the levels felt a little too long when you have to throw your body at the spikes over and over again to progress.

The concept is executed very cleanly, the movement feels nice and the graphics do their job well. It is a little tedious having to do the same sections over and over because you had to die on the spikes to create a platform, but it's nice that the game gives you a checkpoint every time you touch solid ground!

I don`n know what to say. On one side is a very original concept, and you input good native tutorial, on the other side this mechanic is very frustrated.

When I  see few "suicide blocks" I want exit the game immediately, because the essence of platformers on reaction is opportunity to pass level the first time. I think, if I see that I have to die many times is controversial pleasure.

However, this is still one of the best games on this jam, good luck!

nice concept! enjoyed alot

Really really great entry, the movement felt responsive every mistake was my own. The levels were fun and that final gauntlet satisfying. The ending was funny and the art is clear and cute. The hazards were clear because of how dark they are compared to the background. Just fantastic. However, I will be honest and say this was the type of game I was expecting to see alot of because of the Limit. Ive seen games of this type before, but you guys had really good ideas that elevated the idea, imo. The use of a death that doesnt leave a body was clever, it allowed your to make levels that were hard to cheese and how common checkpoints were. Both of those took your game to a new level.

Again great work

Developer

honestly i'm surprised how many people like it let alone played it i was expecting to get maybe like 9 ratings and 6 comments

Quality game, smooth gameplay, and wonderful sprites! It's a little repetitive, but repetition is the core game mechanic, so it only adds to the gameplay. Overall, really enjoyed it, I would love it if you could take a look at my game too!

Submitted(+1)

It gets a bit repetitive after a while but overall it was fun and a cool implementation of the limitation and the presentation was great

Cool concept and presentation! But having said that I have to admit that, in execution, the concept leads into a pretty uninteresting experience (and a little bit frustrating at times). Maybe it was because I can see that concept working better in a puzzle type game or maybe it was the level design needs improvement. But either way, it still was pretty cool.

Nice concept and use of the limitation, I think with more time this idea can go fare

And also very good art, I love the transition !

Fun game.

1, As other people have said, the sawblades take to long to pass.

2, When you die, It is unfair that you have to go back to the beginning as if there are hard traps, you have to do those again.

Besides these, Fun game.

Very good use of limitation, well polished, my criticism would be that there doesn't seem to be much beyond dying to advance the platforming? Like if you have to die on each one of the spikes, it can become repetitive because you're repeating the same level N times until you die enough times to reach the end. I'd like to see something where maybe dying punishes you and blocks off an easier route, which makes you have to take a long path around. Or a golf-score system, where each time you die you get a strike, the goal is to get the lowest score at the end, so there's incentive to find alternate routes. The checkpoints and sawblades sort of address this though

Developer(+1)

Halfway through making it I sorta realized that dying 200 times and having to do it over and over again wouldn't be the most fun thing in the world but at that point, it was too late to make any changes

so after that, I kinda just gave up on trying to make it “good” so I've been surprised that people are calling it polished

very good platformer game with a great use of the limitation, if I could give some criticism it would be to either allow the player to remap the controls or make the arrow keys usable on top of the WASD controls for those who don't have a qwerty keyboard.

Otherwise very good job !

Developer

Yeah, someone else also said that I should have thought of that

Submitted(+1)

the aesthetics here are wonderful, making me want to play even despite the control difficulties WASD movement imposes on users of non-qwerty keyboard layouts

also that ending is nice :3

Developer

Sorry i didn't think of that

Submitted(+1)

Nice game!   Very Good Aesthetics and the mechanics   are perfect for the limitation! congrats
