Cool concept! I like idea of the trash you pick up remaining as physics objects at the top of the screen. I think the gameplay loop would've been even better if there were some kind of points system to show progress.
One thing I noticed too is that the player can still keep going even after they game over, which is a bit confusing.
Beside that, nice game!
Quite a fun game! The idea of a package running to catch up to a delivery truck is funny, and the procedural generation of the track makes things varied.
Where I kinda struggled is with the game's controls, it's a bit floaty and hard to steer where you want to go. That makes getting coins or powerups quite a hassle, and if you land in a wrong way, all your speed is taken away from you.
I do quite like the game, keep it up!
I really like the game visually, the children's drawing aesthetic is very nostalgic! The music is great too.
I do wish there was an explanation on what happiness actually does as a stat. The fun and money buildings using the same sprites doesn't really help in that regard either. Also, I don't know if there is a way to win, but I couldn't really get it to trigger.
I like the concept, and had an enjoyable time despite these minor points :)
Thanks for playing! I watched your review and I'm glad you were honest about how you felt about the game.
I do agree that my decision to couple the rock, paper, scissors action of the enemy to red, blue or green, and then not being consistent about that with the enemy's color would cause confusion, I never really thought of that. Your comments really got me thinking about how I could visualise the enemy's actions in a way that's, as you said, not just Simon. :)
The game was never really meant to be that much of a roguelike, I just wanted to make a fun little experience where you play rock, paper, scissors. In a jam where making a roguelike is the theme, I can understand the low score.
Thanks much for the feedback!
The spritework on this one blew me away! Such great quality sprites, amde me feel like I was playing a SNES game. Generally the quality of the game is great, like the sound mechanics and of course sprites.
I do think having a menu where stuff like the story or general premise is explained as it was a bit difficult to understand what I was supposed to do. Could just be me though.
Wow, thanks for the review! I'm glad to hear you had a good time playing the game! It's good to hear that you enjoyed the premise and art :)
I do agree that having a web version makes the game more accessible, I had originally wanted to make a web version, but every time I would test it, the game would not pick up on your inputs for one reason or another. After trying to fix that late into the night I decided to give up on it for this particular project. WebGL truly is the bane of my existence.
Thanks for playing the game!
- Update on the web build: after your comment I decided to try to build the web version and managed to fix the issue, so thanks for pushing me to try again!
Neat little platformer with some interesting level layouts. The enemy variety was good and I liked how the player character can only shoot upward. The particle that you're using for the jumping seems to be triggered anytime (even when not jumping) the jump button is held, which can lead to some janky visuals, but other than that, great game!
