I love the Avatar the Last Airbender style music/art!
Really well done turn-based battle game! I played this on a video few days ago, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6J9tShhlYo
Visual feedback and indicators are thoughtful and well set. Good job!
oh booooooooooooooy. I don't play card games but I love to see 'themes' incorporated in card type mechanics. Especially when they are well done.
Everything about this game is perfect.
I really don't have much else to say man.
You guys are a great team of devs.
Just amazing, the game is entertaining and well explained, i could be playing hours.
Wonderful!
Super fun to play. You managed to keep the sense of fighting even though you removed all the urgency!
Super polished and well designed!
Very polished game! The art is amazing and the music and sfx fit the game very well. Good interpretation of the theme and unlike anything I've played before. I would have liked to have keybinds for the abilities (maybe just the number keys) so as to not need the mouse but I appreciate that you made it mobile friendly. The UI is very well designed and I like how obvious it is when the enemies are about to attack, although it would have been nice if there was some indication on the UI of how many enemies were left in a level.
I found the gameplay to be a little bit repetitive. The enemies only spawn from one of 2 locations and the player has very limited options for what they can do after attacking (either breathe in or move). This leads to the player not really having any counterplay options and instead just hoping that there's enough time between enemies to prepare their next attack. For example, I got into a situation where there was a melee enemy right next to me but also a bow enemy far away on the other side so I had no option but to take damage. This isn't too much of a problem because the game is easy enough that taking some damage doesn't really matter but it does leave the player feeling a little powerless.
The tutorial at the start of the game was really well done and I enjoyed having a little bit of a narrative element. I found the font quite difficult to read so that might be worth changing if you develop the game further for general accessibility. It would have been nice if the ending had some kind of dialogue or cut scene too as it felt quite abrupt but I would assume that didn't happen due to time constraints.
Overall a really excellent game and I could definitely see it being made into a very successful mobile game. All of the polish is there already, I just think that the combat could use some small tweaks to make it feel more fair and exciting. Great job!
Congratulations! You did a great paused combat experience. The combos and the different ways to attack make you take a deep breath to decide which is the next step to be done. Beautiful pixel art, lovely music, solid gameplay, new powers to be unlocked… Totally fits the theme. Awesome job here! Good luck!
I think we have a winner here. What to say? It's amazing and fits perfectly the theme. Definitely I'll keep playing this to unlock more moves.
What's there to say, this game is all-around well designed and executed and fits the theme well. Maybe encountered some potential issues with gaming the enemy spawning by sitting on either end of the arena and spamming the ranged attack but dunno if that's really an issue. Had a lot of fun with this one, definitely my type of game.
Ridiculous amount of polish, thematic to both the jam and itself, not easy. I love it.
Gorgeous pixel art, the technical part is at a high level, everything is worked out to the smallest detail.
A good battle system, but there are disadvantages:
With a double breath, it deals only one point of damage if there is only one enemy.
When enemies pinch, there is no option to get out of the situation without taking damage.
I liked that it was possible to move away during an enemy attack.
In general, the game is very good.
PROS:
- Extremely polished
- Game designed VERY well, It is clear what is going on, enemies are readable and I know when they are going to attack and how they work
- NOT boring due to this, I have to plan my attacks and I learn the patterns.
- Gaining new abilities actually allows me to change my playstyle and is fun and interesting
- Art, Check
- Animations, Check
- Color, Check
- Game Feel, Do the assets work well together, Check
- Sound, Does it fit the game, Check
- This so far is my #1 game of the Jam without question. (even above my own)
CONS:
- I need to get better.
- I dont understand the combo system / not sure if it works, but its not much of a hindrance.
I love turn-based strategy :)
Definitely made me think!
Wow, super nice polish presentation and a fun creative mechanic; what a great achievement for a jam! If the team plans to develop it further I'd recommend to allow to play only with the keyboard (having a key to cast each skill) or having a mobile version.
Incredibly polished game, lots of fun, mechanics are good, fit well with the theme, and are introduced nicely, with good explanation on every new action.
Fantastic take on the theme and is incredibly polished. I had a lot of fun playing it.
beautiful art, but found the combat pretty frustrating - buttons are so far apart and difficult to click on in time...
Great game. I almost can't believe how polished it is... with excellent pixel art to boot. Nice take on the theme. Decent balance in the gameplay. I like the breathing in as a waiting move, but I don't like how it's required in order to attack. It creates scenarios where there is no choice but to just take the hit, and it happens often. Maybe that's intended, but being left with no options doesn't feel great. The game is still fun. I can definitely see potential for a lot of strategic depth down the line.
Unfortunately, I can't give full points for creativity, since this game is more or less derivative of Shogun Showdown. Still, really great job.
Overall, think this one is a potential winner. Nice.
Incredibly polished and a very nice take on the theme!
I could easily see this one in the top 3!
This was fantastic, a great take on the theme, super polished, and just really fun and original gameplay. I had a ton of fun playing this, and I'd love to see it go further. The only feedback I'd give is that right now the action economy is pretty punishing. I might make the turn action free? It seems like right now a lot of damage is unavoidable, even when ignoring coins entirely.
