This is a really cool concept. I love the simple gameplay loop and the dice roller to move. I would love to see the mini games reworked a bit. Nicely done!

I love the concept and the design of the monsters. The grid reminds me very much of another game of yours, Apoplex! I think it was the snail tactics one.
I'm guessing probably others have commented on this, but the letter minigame itself is pretty hard hehe. I died so many times! I think it's a very interesting mini-game, but a tad too unforgiving. Maybe instead of losing after instantly touching the wrong letter, there could be a small buffer where you could still get away - that way you could feel like it was indeed your fault for not positioning yourself better.
Balancing is tricky, and in game jams it's something I find very complex myself because we can't simply patch the game to fix balancing issues. My game has a similar issue with the last boss, in which depending on your choices, it becomes extremely difficult (if not impossible in some cases) to win against.
Visually speaking the game is absolutely lovely. The description card, the menus, and even the borders during the minigame are very good - it nails its style in a very charming way. Despite the difficulty, I had fun playing it. Great work!
thank you for the thoughtful feedback! and glad you still remember Apoplex! :))
due to lots of feedback about the difficulty, i've made a post-jam version on the TIC-80 website where the minigames advance at 50% speed: http://tic80.com/play?cart=3493
(the build on the itch page is untouched.)
yeah balancing is tricky, and i still easily fall into the trap of 'developer difficulty' - making the game challenging for myself, and then noticing it's almost impossible for others.
i'm glad you had fun, that cheers me up!
This is super cool, the minigame is a bit too hectic which does lead to some accidental losses but the rest of the game, presentation graphics and audio work really well together
Love the concept, as others have said the minigame is slightly too difficult but the graphics are great, and you made a tremendous amount of content. Really enjoyed it.
Game looks quite nice and the monsters are cool! I wish it was a bit easier. I didn’t get very far because the word minigame was quite difficult.
Super fun! The art is really nice and the music and sfx are well done. Great job!
Art's incredible! Love the inclusion of so many different monster types; really adds to the replay value. Overall concept very cute and fun. Gameplay's a bit difficult, though I might just be bad at the game.
Visually perfect game! Cute and colorful.
But for me, the main minigame is just too hard. Manage to win a couple of times by sheer luck )
Hope this is just me )
Really cool one! Hope you will continue, but damn I'm bad at it xD
This was such a fun concept!!!
I’m so frustrated that I’m not good enough to beat even the first encounter most times…
Mixing Pokemon with a brick breaker type minigame is very cool!!
My only criticism might be that, the player speed being the same as the letter-block speed makes it incredibly difficult.
Ps: It took me a while to realise you can read the creature’s description and special ability by pressing Z when the dice is rolling, but each description was adorable! Good flavour text!

Interesting choice of combat system! I also made a catch’em all, but with only 6 monsters so I’m impressed you made so many.
The game feels a bit too unforgiving for me though.
Intesting concept indeed, but very hard, or I was very unlucky to be close to the bad letters :p
