Really fun game! Great job.

Good job, I liked the style of the pixels and the color palette. The atmosphere was great.

Submitted(+2)

good ol beat'em ups :p

Nice dog! I think ill take it xD Great game :)

Submitted(+2)

Oooo, this game is really fun! I enjoyed it a lot. The ending cutscene is superb and the cars driving through some of the scenes was a really nice touch. There are so many awesome artistic details in every scene. Awesome job!

Submitted(+2)

Really good, great pixel art :)

Submitted(+2)

I really like the graphics, the music is nice too! The cutscene at the beginning was well done as well. I would have liked to have more variety of controls, like a special attack etc... to make the gameplay less repetitive though. Curious to see if that gets improved in a post-jam version!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yeah I would have loved to improve on a lot of the mechanics but I had to make sure to "finish" the game first haha. There were several things that had to be left out in order to cross the finish line. Thanks again!

Submitted(+1)

I definitely see what you mean haha, ain’t we all in the same boat 😂

Submitted(+2)

This is great! My only feedback would be that there only seemed to be one move and no combos or anything like that, maybe having punches and kicks or something like that. Other than that, the story, graphics and audio work really well together and the cutscenes were soo rad too! great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for checking it out! I hear ya on the combat being a lil repetitive. I was hoping making it 2 player would have made it a little less so, but I don't think too many people are playing it with 2 players. If only there was more time haha. But I'm glad you liked it and I loved making those cutscenes!

Submitted(+2)

Really cool and fun game. I really like the cutscenes and the soundtrack fits so perfectly!

The tough enemies, with the danger of cars passing by, both add a nice challenge to the gameplay. Great job! :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks a ton for playing! I always like to incorporate some environmental hazards.

A nice little beat em up. There seems to only be one move, a punch, which is fine, but it gets a bit stale just spamming the same move. The game didn't overstay it's welcome and I love the little cutscenes. Audio and visuals are great!

Developer

Thanks so much for playing!

Great little short experience, would of loved  some sort of endless mode where enemies would keep spawning in because the ones here are really fun to fight!

Developer

Thanks so much for playing it! You're right that would be an awesome addition!

Cool little beat-em-up

Loved the overall personality of the game frankly. That guy getting yeet-ed into the water gave me a good chuckle. Along with the ending tbh

I kinda wish the combat had a little more to it besides button mashing your way out, but the number of enemies did force me to dodge around quite a bit

The brute enemy type was a cool addition as well to mix things up, however, it felt like the normal enemy with just a slightly bigger attack radius. It could have used some sort of different behaviour to really make it add to the general combat

Though the best thing about this game is definitely the audio as a whole, and the environments. They really go a long way in making this feel like a proper old-school styled beat-em-up. Well done there.

The final boss was cool as well, though I wish the hitboxes on his bullets were more defined tbh. I guess this game's only real issue is that it can be somewhat repetitive, but for what it is, and how much you managed in the time of the jam, it's a damn good job

Developer(+2)

I appreciate you mentioning the Audio. Means a lot!

Developer(+1)

Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed it! As always, I wish I had more time to improve the game but getting it finished and functional took up most of the jam. Its a new game style for me to learn, each game I make for this jam I try and do a different type of game entirely.

Submitted(+2)

It is a really polished game, I loved the backgrounds and it was nice you had different enemy mechanics (even cars!).

Developer(+1)

Thanks a ton! it was super fun to make but I wish I had more time. I had a plan for another enemy but jams be jams haha. Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+2)

Very cool little game, The dashing and punching feels hella responsive and smooth

Developer

Awesome I'm glad it felt good and responsive. I spent like the fist half of the entire jam just getting the movements and mechanics feeling smooth (enough) before trying to make all the content for it. Thanks for checking it out!!

Submitted(+2)

This game is great! My only gripe is that you can only punch which gets repetitive when fighting lots of enemies, but I understand why. Maybe if there were some sort of Strong/Weak punch mechanic. Other wise, I love the style of the game and the music is good too.

Developer(+1)

I hear ya there. I had some plans for this that never made it into the final version. I considered a heavy/charge punch, but was ACTUALLY gonna make your stamina bar a "rage" bar that had you temporarily hulk-out and increase speed/damage stuff. But compromises needed to be made 8( Super glad you played it thanks so much!

Submitted(+1)

Yep I understand the pain. My game was supposed to have 3 sections lasting 30 seconds so you can complete it in under 2 minutes but I ended up only making one part lasting 30 seconds lmao.

Developer(+2)

I am glad you liked the music! Wham! Bam! Pow!

Submitted

Wasn’t able to play or rate this because it’s windows only/requires a download.

Developer(+1)

Sorry to hear you couldn't, good luck in the jam!

Submitted(+2)

I don't have windows so can't play it, but from the screenshots it gives me great memories of Double Dragon from my childhood :)

Developer(+1)

Hell yeah! Double dragons were one of the inspirations to writing the music for this. Loved that game. Sorry to hear you couldn't play it :(

Submitted(+2)

Feels polished and good to play! I think there's a bug that keeps the player invisible for too long when being hit. And perhaps the sprites needs y-sorting so the feet of the fighter wouldn't overlay someone's head beneath it

Developer(+2)

Thanks for playing! Yeah making the player "disable" at no health was like one of the last things I added in the final hours. I almost broke the game trying to have the player die, so it was a rush job haha. Thanks again!

Submitted(+2)

Noo! not my dog.  I had to play to the end just to rescue the little guy.  The cars were a great addition, I like using the environment as a weapon.

Developer(+2)

Thanks for playing! I loved making the cars, giving a fun alternative way to defeat enemies. Got our boy back

Submitted(+2)

I'm super impressed! You managed to make a pretty good-looking, believable world with the tiny resolution we had to work with.  The audio was great too and so fitting.

Developer(+1)

Awesome thank you so much! All credit to the sound man Scott! I loved making the pixel art for this game. and bringing it all to life. The audio definitely helps accomplish that.
