Good use of visual effects like particles and screen shake, fun concept that I could definitely imagine playing on a mobile device and having a lot of fun!

Two pieces of critical feedback would be: it gets quite confusing when there are many nodes in a cluster, I often didn't know which way the hexagon would travel next. Two ways to help with that visually would be to disable every other node's activation circle visibility until that one is the next one or two nodes in line, another way would be to have the next node's circle be bright and colorful to grab more attention.

The second problem I had was with the sfx when successfully boosting as there is a short but sharp sound that would hurt my ears, resulting in me having to lower the sfx volume, which is unfortunate because every other sound in the game fit rather well. Having the option to control volume levels btw was very appreciated! Awesome work overall!

I love the palette! good job!

Excellent tutorial! Colors are well chosen and the game looks great, I would increase the speed of the base unit as sometimes it can feel a little slow between nodes. Another quick note would be to change or remove the sound of going over a node as I felt it was a little more grating against the rest of the aesthetic! Its been said but repeating areas (seemed like I couldn't boost off the nodes I already had?) is a little bit of added tedium.  Ultimately I think this game executes well in presentation and felt polished. Nice submission.

Thank you :)

Okay yes the speed, will definitely have to experiment with that then to see how it feels to move at a higher constant rate.

The sound of going over a node, are you referring to the harsh click noise when you went past the nodes - if so that was a webgl error haha

Great art style, idea and gameplay. Maybe you could somehow avoid making the player going over past nodes because that slows the gameplay down a bit.

Developer

Yeah this is most prominent in the last level I believe, and you are not alone in your thoughts as other people have pointed out the same issue.
Thanks for your feedback :

Cool idea and really nice and juicy! Excellent tutorial! I liked the anticipation of waiting to see what the picture was going to be but I also felt like it dragged on a bit, maybe it'd have been a bit nicer broken up into smaller little sections? Not too sure, might just be my terrible attention span. Also I felt like a lot of the time my hits weren't being counted, maybe I really was too slow, but it felt kinda unfair, it probably wasn't unfair and I was just too slow but I definitely had that feeling while playing. That said, I think you made something really nice and polished! Great work :)

Developer

Hey, you're actually right in that it's a kinda unfair. There was a bit of a disconnect between how we approached the boost mechanic visually and from inside the code. The result is somewhat misleading but we intend to correct this in the future.

Thanks for playing! We really appreciate the feedback.

Ohh thanks for letting me know that I'm not crazy :P. Well wishes for your future game endeavours!

I liked it alot, and love the art style. But the camera is too slow and too zoomed in so i sometimes can’t see the nodes that im going to connect to, and sometimes i press space at the right time but it slows me down… The last level was too big but when i saw the end shape i was amazed, didn’t expect it. Overall really enjoyed it!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback!

Really cool idea the game is simple yet very enjoyable! Well done!

Love the visuals! Very impressed by the care you put into the tutorial!

Very good visuals love the minimalism

A really nicely implemented tutorial makes a huge difference! Really elegant use of a simple shape and making it look very aesthetically pleasing. There seemed to be times where it seemed like my key press was within the given window, but it didn't register or give me the speed boost. Giving a little bit of leeway outside the circles and/or some visual feedback showing when the player gets inside the zone would do a  lot to help with the overall feel. Overall, super impressive and could easily be expanded with other mechanics to make for a cool time-waster.

Developer

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback, much appreciated :)
I think I detailed the error in another comment at the bottom somewhere, we realised that if you reach a node without boosting, and then try to boost while still in range - it won't boost. So you have to do it before you actually reach the node while within the range indicator (if that makes sense).
Will try to fix that :)

Excellent mechanic, maybe it's just my space bar which is very bouncy or it's intentional for the design but I would have preferred using basically any other keyboard key or mouse button to trigger the boost. Other that that great idea that could definitely be expanded into a really addicting and fun game.

Developer

Thanks! We will experiment with a different input method :)

I like the logo at the end. Simple yet amazing visuals. The gameplay is very satisfying as well, my only suggestion is to make the next to-be-connected node a different color so it's easier to identify when the lines are overlapping.

Great game, well done.

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad it was an enjoyable experience for you, and I totally agree with your feedback - will take it into account :)

Really pretty visuals and a fun little artsy game!

Huge fan of how you used the nodes to draw things such as the heart.

My only real criticism is that sometimes when going over past nodes, some of them would be connectable but some would not, causing you to lose your speed if you incorrectly guessed.

Perhaps a better way to show overlapping nodes to identify which needs to be connected.

Either way, fun little game :D

Good job chief!

Developer

Thank you kind sir :)
Yes I know what you mean, is what your talking about happening mainly on the last level?

Submitted(+1)

Yup it was primarily on the last level!

Developer

Ah yes I know what was happening then, will defo fix that!
Thank you once again

The visuals on this game are quite good! I'd add some more variety gameplay wise, but i had a fun time with this entry!

Developer

Yeah with some more time on our hands we would of added some cool new nodes and maybe even obstacles!
Thank you for the feedback and we are glad to have provided you with an enjoyable experience :)

this is a fun take on the theme

Developer

Why thank you :)

IMHO

Long lines - shorten.

Short lines - Increase

Level with a sword. There wos is a very long lines. And there wos is a very short lines.

For the rest, I liked it. good luck.

Developer

I did intend for a bit of tense-release design within the levels, so there's tight bits and then relaxing bits but I agree that each are respectively too long and too short, so appreciate the feedback!
Thanks for the feedback, glad you enjoyed it! :)

As there are lots of lines overlapping, i would suggest the passed nodes turn white, so that player can see which node is the next. but overall is quite cool, the music and visual is joyful.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I totally agree with what you are saying as it would remove quite a bit of visual clutter making it a little easier to see what is next :)

This game is a MASTERPIECE it looks amazing and its very juicy , I wanted to stop in the last level but i

also really wanted to know what I drew in the end , best game so far 10/10

Developer

Haha thank you so much! We really appreciate it and I'm glad you enjoyed your experience.

Nice. I didn't expect a game like this, but it's really fun.

I think more visibility for the trigger zones would be nice, since they are really small. That would make it a lot more possible to do.

Though simple, the artstyle is really nice.

Nice little game, reminds me one of those rhytm-based games (or flappy bird).

You probably should add controls section to the description. Another minor complain is detection precision. It always feels like the game cheating me in the small nodes. Maybe, it’s WebGL issue too.

Overall a complete game with TUTORIAL on a jam is an accomplishment.

Developer

Aha thank you!
It could indeed be a WebGL issue, but you have helped me realise that you cannot boost if you have reached the node but are still in range of it then you cannot boost. So you have to boost before you reach the node and while in range. This was not intended and may actually have been what you were experiencing :)
I'm glad you liked the tutorial haha :)
