Another uncover-the-hex game! Hello!
It took me a minute to understand what I needed to do, but the idea itself was good fun.
Hey, that's I neat game idea ! You used the assets well and the musics fits the ambiance. fyi, I found a bug where I could win the game without any tile placed by dragging the first path tile to both villages. Nice entry overall, cheers !
Not 100% sure what's going but I had fun!
Thanks! I'm glad that you liked it, I will work on the intuitiveness next time.
I like the music but I'm not too sure what I'm doing. I assume the general goal is to open the fewest tiles while still reaching the other side, but there doesn't seem to be much of a strategic way to go about revealing tiles?
Yes, this is the general goal. The revealing tiles is random at this point, that's true - so you will need a luck, too. I thought that it will be like if you play a board game and pull from the bag. But you still can strategize with trading, placing specific types of roads and not let roads to be destroyed before you use them. So to get the best result, you need to use the sources wisely and also have a luck.
Very nice game, had a ton of fun. The music was very nice, hope you fix that weird bug and add some more stuff in the future, keep up the good work!
Thank you so much! I appreciate it and definitelly work on it.
Neat game - well done - had fun - music was also good
that was a very fun game, nice work, i think snappier controls would help, e.g. the rotation speed of the blocks, but apart from that super solid game
Thank you! :)
I really liked your work!!! I'm a puzzle fanatic!! You made an interesting puzzle that fits the theme perfectly!
Thank you, appreciate it!
I'll admit I'm not entirely sure what I did, but I won without placing any tiles. That's gotta be a high score right there lol
It might've freaked out when I dragged the start tile near the start and the end while trying to figure out what to do.
I think there's a lot of potential here, and the music and sound effects were great. Though it felt a little lacking in the strategy department from what I had hoped for. There's a lot of luck in getting the right combinations of tiles so I can make roads (even with the exchanges for having a ton of one type of road). Maybe giving the player some information on the adjacent tiles so they can kind of plan which ones to pick? Not sure. Would need some tinkering to figure out the best way to improve it
But overall, good concept! I liked it
Wow - a highscore indead :D, thank you for your feedback and sending a screenshot, I will fix it later! There is definitely a room for improvement - thanks for the tips. I'm glad you liked it.
i'm kinda confused but the game is pretty cool! i'd also love if you could try my game!
Thanks, I will definitely try!
I really wish I could play the game in the first run I won after placing the first tile but now I always get an error message:
the game seems fun and the idea is very cool :(
I'm sorry to hear that. Unfortunatelly, this bug happens when you place a road on a tile right after it has been discovered or vice versa. (Please see the section "Known bug"). I will repair it right after the voting period, I have noticed it few minutes after the deadline. You can avoid it when you do not click so quickly. (I tested it on the touchpad and I won't do this mistake again. 😀)
First play, even though I read the controls, I completely forgot I could rotate tiles... Still almost made it by pure luck, but I finished the tiles before making it.
Second time went smoother, I completed in 2:40 with 93 tiles used, not sure if that's good or bad :D
Really enjoyable chill game, the theme is a good fit too. The trade system was a good idea, it would've been a bit frustrating without that
The concept is nice, need to envolve and make clear or more intuitive which resources are needed for what so you can have some strategy. I see great potential if you work on it!
Thanks, I will work on the intuitiveness. :)
Oh, it's a really original concept in this jam, didn't see similar games as long as I remember! Really fun, simple and effective!
Thank you! :)
I really like the idea of it, gives me settlers of catan vibes, but honestly, I did not understand what was going on with the resources and how they made path tiles, or what the purpose of trading was, I also got a path all the way to go between the towns and nothing happened so I guess i won? I really like the idea and the feel of it but I just don't know what I am doing.
Thank you very much for your feedback, I will try to better communicate the rules next time. The path tile is made when you have at least one resource of each type and you can also trade 5:1. There should be a victory screen like this I wonder if the path wasn't complete or if there was a bug. (I didn't encounter it yet.) Thanks for playing!
Nice game!
Me also likes hexagon and puzzle games like Yohsk. I liked to see gems like this! Great job!
I really like hexagon and puzzle like game ! I'll just say that I may have used R for rotate instinctively (oops) but I finally finished the road ! Other than that, like popcar2 said, the game feel a bit random right now, but the concept is really good. (^w^)
Thank you for making this game ! (^w^)
Thank you, I'm glad you finished the road! You're right, I didn't think of an "R" key for rotation - a button or other key would probably be a better option.
Really clever concept! I enjoyed the concept of discovering tiles and building roads. The presentation is clean and intuitive. I wish rotating roads was a bit faster, and I feel like the game is a bit too RNG-heavy. The big addition to strategy is trading, but a 5:1 trade ratio makes it pretty useless. You will need this resource later, so sacrificing 5 of them just isn't a good move. Instead, I put down what I get.
If you do work on it after the jam, make sure to add a little more player agency. Overall, it's a pretty polished game considering the time!
Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it. About the trade ratio - I was choosing between 4:1 and 5:1, I will definitely test it further after the jam. An hour before the deadline it looked like there will not be any trading after all so I'm happy that you mentioned it. :D
