How does your game fit the theme?
In Rooftop Rewind, a platforming game, you race against the clock to complete the level before time runs out. If you don’t beat the clock or if you die, you’ll be sent back to the beginning of the level, trapped in a loop. Players must be fast and precise in order to beat the levels and break the loop.

Nice platform game. Could use some music for the levels and a rewind sound for when the loop restarts to hammer in that the player is stuck in a loop.

A fun little solo-made game!

It was an enjoyable experience trying to complete the levels within the time limit. After a few tries, it became quite manageable. The sound effects fun. A few more levels, along with some extra VFX and SFX, could make the game feel even more polished.

Still, it’s impressive that you made everything yourself—great job!

The theme was there—check!

A solid jam entry. Keep up the good work and keep going strong! 🎮👏🔥

A simple fun platformer. The sound effects and death noises were funny to hear and added to the enjoyment but i really feel like background music would've been great, I did also get stuck a few times on some levels but loved the rush I felt to finish it as quickly as possible!

Nice job

I love the sound effects, footsteps, jumping, dying. Nice little 3D platformer. My only complaint is the player model getting stuck on objects if jumping/falling to close to them. Well Done.

I liked the movement of the character and the little feet slaps. I found it challenging but ultimately persevered! I was definitely cutting it close though!

Would love to see more levels!

A simple platformer that works fine. The player movement could use some tweaking as air time feels a bit too long. The SFX are okay but get repetitive pretty fast. I see the idea of looping a level when not winning as your interpretation of the theme, but it doesn’t feel like the most unique take. The UI is decent, but using a more fitting text style would help tie everything together. Also, some background music would really elevate the experience.

I win immediately after start?

Despite some bugs, I really enjoyed playing it. The airtime felt a bit too long, but overall, the level design was solid. Adding something like wall jumping could bring more variety to the gameplay.

I played all the way through because the difficulty felt just right!

Nice game

Ok I wasn't expecting all of this, great gameplay and short, the only downside is the animation, maybe it would be better to be a little bit faster.
Great work!

Short but sweet. The time limit on the last level almost made me ragequit, but I managed to make it to the end!

I liked the retro graphics, and overall retro feel. What would add to it even more is maybe some background music.

One thing I would change- sometimes it was hard to tell if the object can be jumped on, or is it slightly in the background. It wasn't much of a problem though. The time limits in the early levels were forgiving, and in the last level this wasn't a problem.

Over all- pretty cool, classic platformer!

Cool game. Neat you made the art yourself.  Could use an energetic soundtrack.

I found an error in level 1 where I somehow managed to jump over the (checkpoint?) that ends the level and was able to keep running quite a ways before I fell out of the scene. Or maybe this was connected to an easter egg?

Developer(+1)

Haha, let's go with that (Easter egg) instead of a forgotten box collider! Thanks for playing. I also attempted to make a song for the game but couldn’t come up with one I was happy with.

NIce game, as said before i also encountered one of the classic physics engine issues and that is walls are very sticky. The last round was very challenging for me but i made it to the end. Well done.
If i could change anything i would have a bit less airtime for the jumps it made it a bit harder

Developer

Thank you for playing and giving me some pointers! Sorry you experienced that bug. I built this in Unity and added physics materials to some box colliders to fix sticky walls. Which wall did you encounter this bug with, and do you have any tips to solve this issue?

Submitted

Sorry meant to reply sooner but totally forgot

This is the first place i encountered that bug, al you need is to jump and keep pushing forward. However how to solve it not sure as it does not happen everywhere it might just be the collisions shape of the boxes ontop of eachother what causes itWhen tying to reproduce this i did encounter an another bug, if you jump over the door (in at least the first level) you jump out of the level and have to wait till the time runs out.

Nice speedrun game! I found some bugs with the collisions between player and walls while jumping, player got stuck some times. Otherwise, congrats for the game!

Developer

Thanks! This was my second-ever game, and I’m new to game dev. How do you solve the sticky walls bug in Unity? I added some physics materials to the wall box colliders and thought I had fixed it, but I guess I need to do more playtesting and try to break the game myself, lol.

Unique concept and gameplay, this is the perfect speedrunning game. I managed to complete the whole game, which just shows how fun it is (its one of the few games I reviewed that I completely completed.) The sound effects are funny and add to the humor of the game, and the level design works really well. The entire game just fits the theme really well, and I'm glad to have gotten the chance to give it a play!

Developer

Thanks for the supportive comment, CodesNorth! I really appreciate it. You're right—it is kind of like a speedrun game (you have to, or you're stuck in a loop). Glad you liked the sound effects—this was my first time attempting to make them, lol!

Speedrunning: The Game 😉

Nice idea and theme interpretation. Both levels took me several tries to beat.

More ways to move or jump would make this way more interesting. Like the many ways in Super Mario 64. Even just like "faster, longer jump" (Z+A in SM64) and wall jump.

The camera feels a bit too close.

Developer(+1)

That should have been the name of the game, haha! Glad you enjoyed the little game and were able to beat it. Great ideas—Mario 64 has a lot of mechanics that would definitely fit into this game. I just didn’t want to bite off more than I could chew with the allotted time.

Everything in this game was created entirely by me, including the code, artwork, animations, and SFX. When posting, I was confused by the question about "what was made by you and what was not."
