RPG Marker MV,

How does your game fit the theme?
The character has to always walk in a loop around a cliff and decides to smash the cliff so he no longer has to take the long looping route, and thereby break the loop XD

Yooo that was clever and funny. Considering the limitations of RPG Maker I think you did well to integrate the theme into the story, and setting. It is just short and easy, I was hoping to see more.

Nevertheless, the important thing is you finished on time and the game is functioning fine. Good work!

Thanks! As I discuss in my (rather hurried) devlog, I've struggled with creating jam games that I actually feel are properly finished. In GoedWare jams in particular, I felt only the first of the several games I submitted were finished/did not feel rushed or like they had big chunks of the game not fully implemented. I'm really happy to say that I feel this game actually feels finished to me -- and that a lot of people seem to be enjoying it :)

This was an interesting little narrative-driven game!

The story was enjoyable (even though it had a lot of text at the start before the action), with some nice bits of humor sprinkled in. The exploration wasn’t too difficult, and with just a few screens, you could always find your way forward. Still, it was engaging enough to want to complete the story, find the items, and break the loop... or maybe not? 😉

The pixel art looked great, the music was calm and relaxing, and the controls worked smoothly.

The theme was present—check.

Of course, it would’ve been nice to have more story branches, items, and options, but for a game jam in just a day, this was a complete and polished experience with a clear beginning and end—and that’s a big achievement in itself.

A solid jam entry, especially considering the time you put into it. Well done! 🎮📜

Thanks! I'm working on an updated version of this game with some minor edits. I might try reducing the amount of text in the intro, though I can probably only cut so much while still keeping it entertaining and informative.

Nice game but to many words

Probably the simplest way to integrate the theme to a game and you did it well. The story does touch the theme a little and it is short, which is good enough for a gamejam. You have the foundation to create a whole game based on what I can see. Also, knowing how you made this in one day makes me wonder what you couldve built in 1 year. I did see some bugs though, which some of them are already mentioned by others. The art is also good, though I cant seem to take my eyes off the weird door XD. Anyway, definitely good job on this one and keep making games like this.

This is a really charming and fun RPG! This game probably had the most intricate storyline out of all that I reviewed - great work on that! The graphics, music, and theme fit together really well too, and everything felt consistent. However, the gameplay could get a little boring for me sometimes, and it would be cool if some of art was original. (I get that the jam was only 10 days, and that makes it a lot harder to get as much done.) I think the game fit the theme well, and you put a lot of care into this submission. Nice work!

Thank you!

(By the way, you don't need to post a link to your game. The icon under your post is a link to your game, so adding the link is unnecessary and might make you come off as pushy or even get mistaken for spam since you are adding it to every post.)

Thank you for the warning, I deleted the link

Very nice, a bit short but seeing you made it in one day is still an amazing feat. The walking on the cliff was a bit weird but somebody already told that.  I actually had a chuckle when getting the second pickaxe.

Developer

Thanks. That's the one in the cave, right. My initial thought was there was going to be a riddle guru for each pickaxe, but decided one riddle was enough to think of.

yeah the one in the cave that basically came down to don't be so nitpicky and take the pixaxe

Fun short story! I liked that there were so many interactive elements—it felt like a fully fleshed-out game. Great job sticking to the theme, literally! Haha

Loads of dialogues in the beginning, when I want to DO something :D It definitely fits the theme, but there is no new mechanic. It is kinda strange that you can walk “onto” the cliff, if it is usually in a certain height. However, I like the overall story and way to keep on moving (Searching a first pick axe, feeding the cat etc.). Nice cozy little game.

Thanks for your feedback. You're not supposed to be able to walk onto the cliff. I'm assuming that occurred in the one spot there are pebbles at the edge because that is the only weak spot I found. It appears they are making a sort of bridge past the "barrier." Thank you for catching that!
