How does your game fit the theme?
I made an idle simulation game about managing an island. You asign tasks to villagers and feed them. The game is cyclic, based on moons.
Each moon you have to feed the villagers, when a villager is not fed, he dies. So at the start of each moon, you make sure that while assigning tasks to villagers, they are also producing enough food.
How to break it.
If you do a great job at managing the Island, you will have plenty of food, for many moons. So you won't bother about moons passing again.

Even though it initially looked a lot like a work app, it was still fun to play! š
Unfortunately, the game broke for me, and I couldnāt produce any more wood or stone etc.—which I assume wasnāt intended. I was close to finishing my research center! The āpunch treeā action was stuck, and the progress bar wouldnāt fill anymore.
Visually, it did feel like a work app, but with some added game animations or visual elements in a future update, it could definitely become more engaging graphically. The background music was nice but became a bit repetitive over time—switching to a different track now and then could help mix things up.
That said, I still enjoyed myself and was curious to see how far I could progress.
A solid foundation mechanics-wise, and with a stronger visual layer, this could really shine. Keep it going! š³āļøš®
Thank you for your review. Iām working on the visuals
This game definitely exceeded all my expectations. At first glance, since it was text-based, I assumed we would have to process a lot of complex information. Fortunately, the experience turned out to be the opposite, thanks to the way we progress through the different moons, making it both rewarding and satisfying.
Even without the typical visual elements found in most games, you managed to capture the essence of a great management system. It keeps the player constantly wanting more, creating an ongoing evolution process where, even through words alone, the significant progression is clearly felt.
You implemented this system very well, and I can easily imagine what the game would look like with graphics. Without a doubt, visuals would bring it even more to life and make it feel more engaging and appealing.
However, when you decide to add graphics, try to maintain the simplified version of the experience that the game already has. I strongly believe that this is precisely what makes it so good. Youāve masterfully captured a mechanic that keeps players engaged and makes us feel victorious and intelligent.
The only issue I initially encountered was a bug when trying to open the game in my Chrome browser (which is up to date). The buttons didnāt work at all, and at first, I thought the project was incomplete in that aspect. However, when I opened it in another browser, everything worked perfectly.
Congratulations on the project! Itās clear that thereās great potential for further development here. I hope you continue investing in it. Good luck with the jam!
Thank you for your feedback.
I agree with your view, keeping the visuals minimal will be better.
Its a really nice base for an iddle game! Its a pitty it does not work on Firefox, but I just played it on Chrome and it works fine untill day 11.
It would add a very nice touch to have some animation of the villagers, maybe in the footer of the page or something like that.
As for the gameplay, I do reccomend to make "needs" visible when you click on them (or to have them displayed all the time), not only when you hover your mouse over.
I liked the music and the nice touch of increasing the speed to match the moon speed level!
Thank you for your feedback. Iām glad you liked it
I get what you mean on how to break it! Hehe.
I thought it was a fun and was disappointed when it ended.
I have played other idle games with the same minimalist visual design, and I found it just as engaging (if not a little more) than some more flashy idlers.
Thank you for playing my game.
Iām glad you liked it
The game is supposed to keep going on. How did it ended for you?
This game is pretty addicting. I was disappointed the game stopped working on day 11. I never got to get more villagers which would have been a nice dopamine hit. Overall, I think you got a nice foundation for a fun village builder.
Thank you for playing. Iām glad you liked it
I agree what have been said before, i think you made a solid base for an interesting game where you can build further upon. However it did need some visuals, but since you already have a game loop that is just the next step.
I see what you did there. This looks like the best way to test your quest system. I gotta say it is working perfectly now. I think what you can do is to upgrade this into a full game with graphics and integrate other systems into it. One thing you can also add is an graphical indicator or a warning for some things such as for food. I know there is a blinking red indicator but it is easy to be missed once we got busy with other tasks. Overall, I did enjoy it since I love games with systems like this. Good job and good luck on it!
Thank you for playing my game. Globally Iām glad that the system is working. Now Iāll focus on making the game more visually appealing
I think this game needs visual, good idea but no visual graphics kills the game sadly :C
Tank you for your suggestion. I think everyone agrees that the game needs some visual improvement. Iāll work on it
I like the concept, but the graphics could have been a lot better.
Yeah you right
I feel like this could have been a lot better if there was some visual representation of what was happening in game, even if its just basic shapes or downloaded assets, just watching a number go up with a progress bar just isnt very interesting to look at. Other than that some other gameplay features to do while you wait for tasks to complete could have been a nice addition. The idea is good it just needs some features to make it more interesting to play.
Thank you for your suggestions. Indeed some visual representations would be great. Iāll work on it.
It took a little while to figure out how the game works, but once I did, I enjoyed the progression of managing a little village. Cool concept!
Thank you for playing it. Iām glad you liked it. Do you have some suggestions for the game?
I tried playing, but after clicking 'Punch berry tree,' I couldnāt do anything else. I attempted different starting actions like punching a tree, punching a rock, and making a stick, but once I completed the 'Punch berry tree' quest, nothing happened - moon progression stopped, and I couldnāt click anything... I do like the music and the option to adjust the speed, but since the game is also missing artwork entirely, I canāt give it a high rating.
Thank you for playing my game.
The tasks need a villager to be started. You start with one villager, so when you punch the berry tree, no more free villager is available. You need to stop punching the berry tree to start another task.
I tried that, but it did not work for me. I stopped hitting the berry tree, but still moon progression and everything else stopped as well.
Sorry to hear that. Can you send a screenshot ?
I basically start the game, click "Punch berry tree", then a berry is gathered. The moon does not progress any further and altough I still got a villager, after stopping punching the tree I am not able to click anything else.
Something is broken, but I donāt know what it is.
You have gathered one very, at least the Food amount should be one.
Can you please open the JavaScript console and send a screenshot of it.
Iāve uploaded another build of the game here. I hope that one will be fine.
Sorry but I don't got the time here. I am using firefox browser, maby you can recreate this bug.
Yeah thank you. I got the same error on Firefox. I found the issue, when you completed the first quest, the activity log tried to scroll to the last content using the function scrollIntoViewIfNeeded(). Still, Firefox doesnāt recognise it as a function.
The game is all ready broken, gave you flat 3 stars. please rate my game.
Thank you for your comment. Iāll check your game.
