I liked this a lot. I bet it would play really well on a touch device (alas, my laptop is not a touch screen). It’d be cool if there was a payoff of some sort, like you could see the key being used to open a box or door or something.

Very solid nice puzzle(?) game! Gameplay was good and challanging enough I think. Though I did play only the first 3 levels and checked what the fourth key would look like, I think there's a nice progression as well. I agree with some of the other comments here that some sound effects would do great things for this. And maybe some particle-effects when you're drilling the key, so that it would feel you're actually drilling metal and not butter. But hey, it's a jam game, and a great one at that! Nice job!

Absolutely solid game for this jam. Great spin on the theme, good controls, clear UI, solid level and menu design. Even the itch.io page is satisfying. Proud of this work. I might have missed a setting but I would have loved some more SFX for the different user actions to provide feedback. Other than that, excellent job!

Excellent idea for the jam! The art was very nicely done. Audio-wise, the music was decent (though, it was crackly for me, but I think that’s an issue with Godot web export), however, I think the game could have definitely benefited from some sound effects. A background rumble of the drill press, some clicks when pressing the buttons, maybe even some mild sliding metal sounds when pulling the lever and crank, I think these would have added just that little extra.

Speaking of the levers, I think a little more tweaking needs to be done with how the mouse communicated with the pull lever. A lot of times I seemed to move my mouse faster than the lever and as soon as my mouse left the levers handle, the lever stopped moving. This got a little annoying at times, but not a deal breaker, or anything.

Last thought was, when a level finished (like the scoring, by the way), instead of just sending the player right back to the main menu, there should be another option to go back to the level select menu and/or simply progress to the next level if there is one. Going to the main screen, then having to go to level select every time I finished a level is a annoying.

Over all, very very well made game! Excellent work! If you’d like to see some random internet dude play your game, here’s a link to me playing on stream :)

Wow, this was super neat. Managed to get 90+ on all of em, it was very fun to control. I think my only critiques would be:

  1. I wish I could pin the reference image to the screen somewhere.
  2. The guide lines could have lasted a tiny bit longer. I get not wanting to leave them on permanently, but I spent a lot of time mashing.

All in all though, really well done on this one!

Loved how the controls work! Great way to show the results at the end with some animations on the stars and score.

Neat game. Really well done, especially for a first GWJ! I'm kinda curious how you did the cutting piece such that it matched the drill placement. I spent some time very poorly forging keys and I was impressed with how I could basically build whatever shape(s) I wanted.

The music is great! I think I played long enough that the song ended and it didn't loop. Would have loved for it to keep going!

Also, the shake on the drill is a really nice touch. I enjoyed playing your game!

Thanks for playing, yeah we did the music at the last moment and I think we didnt test the looping.
As for how we are doing the cutting its basically a mask on the original key that gets applied every process

I liked the idea, pretty original

Thanks for playing!

Fantastic game!  I really have no complaints here, this is well on it's way to being a full-fledged game.  Works well on phone, too, which is a pleasant surprise.  I am impressed!

Developer

Thanks so much for playing. We might do a couple more levels after the jam but have no plans to take it any further after

The idea is really cool, and visuals are really cool too. As others have said, the lever for the vertical movement of the drill is a bit clunky but that's the only problem I encountered. Good job !

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and for the feedback, if we were to re-do it we would definitely make it more obvious the vertical part, we detected while we were developing but never got around to do a polish pass on it

Submitted

Really good, I never thought of forging keys! Really original, just the drill head height lever is a bit annoying because you drop it if your mouse moves off it, the spinny to move the key is really nice though

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and for the feedback!

Wow! The graphics, audio, the idea, its all amazing! My only critique is that it was a bit clunky to control, but otherwise a spectacular entry!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! And yeah, I think we really liked the concept of the controls but didn't really get them to work how we wanted to. It would definetly be one of the things to focus on if we had more time.

Thanks for trying it out!

Brilliant graphics, innovative gameplay, pretty good music too. Controls were just too fiddly for me to get on well well with playing it as it makes my mouse hand wrist hurt.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and I am so sorry if anything in our game actually made your mouse hand hurt. Next one its definitely something to keep an eye for

Very original concept and love the very tactile and intuitive control scheme! Plus the laser grid was super helpful, though it was a little annoying to have spam the button to get it to light up especially since it didn't seem like time taken was a factor in the scoring scheme?

Developer

Thank you for playing, time is def not one of the scoring aspects

Submitted(+1)

Great game, well done! Cutting into the keys was so smooth, I love how this jam has encouraged people to do interesting things with graphics. The lever to lower the drill was a little clunky on web, would be nice to just have a wider grab-able area

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the feedback

Really cool concept and take on the theme! The controls where a bit difficult to get into any kind of flow with. I'm on Firefox/linux

Developer

Thanks for playing, a lot of others referenced the vertical control, did you have any troubles with the other ones?

Submitted(+1)

Really enjoyed spinning the wheel to place it down. I also like how the lasers are not always on and are removed after some time. I'd love to see what we see the keys being used for in future

Developer

Thanks for playing, we might drop a couple more levels after the jam is over just to finish it

Submitted(+1)

Cool work, the music is mellow, game in general feels good to use, nice use of assets and sprites, simple and intuitive.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing :)

Submitted(+1)

Great job! However, when moving the drill down, the movement is very clunky, and some effects when things happen would be better.

Developer

Thanks for playing, we considered doing some particles on drilling it was just due to time and it was also the first time doing something in godot for all of us

Submitted(+1)

I like how you implemented the idea, I just noticed that the lever to close it is a little strange to be honest and the lack of sounds is noticeable, but quite fun and I was surprised by the scoring system

Developer

Thanks for playing, yes SFX would be the next on the list. We only worked on this on the first weekend. I am happy you liked the scoring :)
